Great review brother. I was debating whether to get this bag or the Base Camp Ops Expedition. I really like the features of this one but went with the Exped bc of its lower cost and temp rating. That said, if I were going to be using it primarily backpacking, I definitely would have gotten this bag and just added either the TS1 or Thermalon liner to take it lower if needed. I love that Snugpak offers such a variety and you can get gear that's either durable and inexpensive OR lightweight and durable. This allows those on a budget to get durable kit without breaking the bank, and those that are either more experienced or have a need for higher quality to get gear that's been proven to perform in extreme conditions and temperature ranges consistently. I've got some of both types and it all performs amazingly well. Case in point : I wore my Sasquatch jacket at work yesterday where the temp is -20°F not counting the "wind chill", and it performed as well if not better than the -20° parka that my company supplied me. I had a better range of motion and stayed much drier as was warmer for longer overall.
Yes the Snugpak sasquatch and other jackets have a great freedom of movement 👍 many people go for the elite range of bags as they can also extend. I have a TS1 lined bag called the tactical 2, rated 0c and very comfy but I had to get a separate expanda-panel for it which I find more practical when I don't need it. Snugpak offered me a expanda bag but I didn't like the bright couplers so I got this osprey and the hawk, covered for any adventure now. Trouble is I have so much gear I find it hard to choose what type of shelter to take or where to go, too many options isn't always a good thing but atleast it's there for when I need it.
Nice review mate, great tip on the zips when stuffing, 1 tip for you though... I always start with the foot box that way air is forced out the top whilst stuffing.. great review Luke
I really like the softie sleeping bags, have a few myself, softie 6, softie 9 and the Antarctica one also. Had these for a long time, at least 23 years, (bought 97 onwards) and I've Just bought the Carinthia Defence 4 just now so I can do a comparison this winter in Canada.
Thanks Robert much appreciated 👍 it's a snugpak mml 3 smock, very nice and still going strong, just look out for fire embers as it'll soon burn small holes in the smock. Hope this helps, peace
This looks like a very good bag. I was all set to buy the Snugpak Elite 4, but it seems out of stock everywhere. The Snugpak Expansion 4 is similar with the softie insulation and only about £80. The Osprey is another £50. Is it really worth the extra fifth quid ? Thanks
Sorry mate but you just don’t come across as being interested at all in this bag. You repeat yourself far too much and sometimes get it wrong ( weight 2kg… then further on 1kg) all comes across as disinterested. I suggest you view your own material and try to appear interested!
To be honest there wasn't much to say about this sleeping bag, only having used it a few times it was more of an overlook than a review, thanks for the feedback I appreciate it

The osprey can pretty much the UK winters, plus UK made. The other bags are China made gear, good stuff but I use the UK
Is the inner is slippery poliester or more comfy, soft cotton?
Polyester fabrics, but not as slippery as the cheap tents
