- Winter is coming, and having heated seats helps ease the bitter bite of the cold. HERE are the seats I used in this video: amzn.to/2Dkd8sW and here is the fuse tap that you use to get power from an extra fuse slot: amzn.to/2FoGsPI
Remember that there needs to be a 12v flow through your seat wires. So if there is not a 12 volt flow, then the ground might not be as clean as it needs to be.

I have did this on my motorcycle as I travel to my college early morning. I even have the heated handlebars, but the right one does function properly now.

I am in a process of looking for my first new car. Some units with considerable discount can be bought and are not picked by people due to lack of winter package (in Poland you might use them for more than half a year, especially in mornings or at night). This video shows actually a great alternative for me and I might end up getting car without such package if installation is as easy and cheap as presented.
The sets are so cheap that I might even install it this / following week on my 2007 Ford Fiesta just to learn the process and see how it goes. It will keep me warm if needed 🤗 It's such a shame that I found out about this after 6 years of ownership! 😅 I would have made the installation much sooner then.
Make sure to disconnect the battery, or you will get a permanent SRS light as the car believes there is an issue with the seat mounted side airbag (if equipped).

Coming from a detailer here. Putting heating elements in a cloth seat will possibly ruin the heating elements if you ever decide to get the car detailed. Extracting the seats will naturally get them saturated in water and cleaning chemicals. All cars I have ever detailed that have had heated seats have had leather seats. If you decide to do the DIY do it with LEATHER SEATS.
Civics come with heated cloth seats
Lot's of cars have heated cloth seats, including my 2011 Outback Premium.
This can’t be true right, so many cars like Hondas and Hyundais have heated cloth seats
My vw jetta has heated cloth seats iv extracted and they're fine

Late reply but to anyone reading this, my upholstery was glued to the foam (2009 Honda fit), so I had to use seat covers and it's been working well for months already :)

Just a quick question! When plugging the fuse into the fuse box for the heated seats is that fuse for both the driver and passenger seat?! Also! Agree with everyone you should advertise this channel on your main! You pump out awesome content!
Each seat should have their own button, and fuse. And thanks! I'm sure Ill mention it over there someday. For now, I like having the smaller chill audience over here.

I'm confused... You left the fuse that came with the seat heater connected? So it's going through 2 fuses?
Just search for automotive fuse tap. It will tell you all about them.

This beats a $20 heated seat subscription everyday. You might even be able to use the ones already in the car but just add your own switch. I'm sure it would turn your dashboard into a Christmas tree of errors though just because you modified your seat lol. Remember the days when you could change out your head unit and not lose all the interior functionality.

I did this for my seats but the air bag light keeps flashing on the instrument cluster now. Is there something that can be done about that?
I should let it be checked or check it myself with an OBD (2) thingie cuz you never know when there is a problem with your airbags
Yeah that tends to happen when you "jerryrig" crap into your seats. Your car has what is called a passenger presence system that detects weather not somebody sitting in your passenger seat as well as how heavy they are to determine how much power the airbag needs to have behind it when it comes out in a collision. Some Vehicles when you take the seats out you have to recalibrate the sensors with special weights. Hard to jerry-rig that but hey at least your butt's warm

All cars here came with heated seats, don't have to install anything.
Shame they don't work in my car though...
just wear a thick winter jacket and winter pants and you are good to go, you dont need to do all these work.
