Made it !! Was a hit for the family I baked it up a notch with passion fruit. It was difficult to cut but your instructions to use serrated knife help work a treat 💙💚💙
In Hungary calls it krémes, one of my favorit dessert. And here is another witch one called franciakrémes / frenchcream. On the custard is whipped heavy cream and on the top of pastry layer is a touch of caramel gloss. Yummi😊
Can i question your baking temp for the pastry , i tried it at 150 C as per your written recipe no way does it cook , i then researched other versions and most said to bake at 200 c 20 plus minutes.
Wow, looks fabulous! Thank you for this recipe! I've made puff pastry from scratch before (under the guidance of a French Michelin star chef!)! It tasted amazing and far superior to that of store bought puff pastry! Love your channel!

Interesting, this makes me think of a typically Dutch pastry called a ‘tompoes/tompouce’ which is crème Suisse or pastry creme between two layers of puff pastry and topped with a thin layer of pink sugar glaze. They are rectangular instead of square but nevertheless look quite similar to these vanilla slices.
This looks very similar to the Greek dessert called galactoboureko which I've made before. However it uses phyllo dough instead of puff pastry. Anyone having had it knows how yummy it is. Look it up!
I have been looking for a great custard dessert recipe! How hard do you think it’d be to turn the vanilla custard into a chocolate custard? Thank you so much!
make the same recipe. let it cool. then take a bit of ur vanilla custard and heat it a little bit up. just so warm like ur body temperature and mix in ur melted and tempered chocolate. now mix everything together. then u will have it in the chocolate version:)) if ur vanilla custard is too cold ur custard will have chocolate pieces in it like stracciatella ice cream. u wont have a smooth custard. :)
Yes, it is "kremówka papieska". Or named "napoleonka". Popular in Poland. Available at any pastry shop. I'm curious how it is made here in Scran Line :) Certainly delicious too :D
I made this according to the recipe but the custard didn't turn out firm enough. Not sure why. I used extra large eggs so am thinking maybe that's why?
A proper vanilla slice needs a thin layer of icing on top, not just a dusting of icing sugar. And you certainly do not need to add any butter to the crème pat (confectioner's custard).

So impatient to watch it. Looks so yummy 🥺🥺😍😍😍😭😭🤤🤤
Showing my learning curve here as a first time cooking geek!…why does the butter go in last? Why not mixed in with the flour & eggs? Does it matter?
Mmm reminds me of custard squares which were my late dad’s favourites might have a go at making this :3
This looks very similar to the Greek dessert called galactoboureko which I've made before. However it uses phyllo dough instead of puff pastry. Anyone having had it knows how yummy it is. Look it up!
I used to make vanilla slices every Friday for a time when I was in grade 4:) and 5 etc
We call this a custard slice in South Africa. Fantastic recipe!
It’s really good with coconut icing or passionfruit icing
I would love to see you make puff pastry. All the recipes and videos I can find are for rough puff, and I would like to see one for full puff.
Looks yummy, Nick 😋

Do u have to add butter to custard?🤔 Never seen that part before thanks🤗
You definitely should do pouf pastry from scratch!!!!!! 🥰❤ U. And thank you for being AMAZING!!!!😀
I always love ur videos
Yummy!!!! 😋😋
This dessert looks like Mexican pastry "Mil hojas", you should try to do it 💖
Do you let the custard cool completely before pouring onto the pastry?
Can you use granulated sugar instead of caster sugar for the cream?
Is this Bavarian Cream?
It's KREMÓWKA PAPIESKA
Yes, it is "kremówka papieska". Or named "napoleonka". Popular in Poland. Available at any pastry shop.

If you can make it, that is a marriage prize.
Here in Norway, we call this cake Napoleon cake 😋
I made this according to the recipe but the custard didn't turn out firm enough. Not sure why. I used extra large eggs so am thinking maybe that's why?
Can i use vanilla essence
mix your vanilla cream with stiff peak cream. thats another level, trust me. we do thst everyday in our bakery. we call them mille feuille
You could also make this using phyllo dough. :)
I didn't even think of that! You totally could!
Looks nice, but i was after the recipe where the custard is mixed with heavy cream. ❤

Start a channel, create a recipe video and I’ll be totaly embarrassed that this recipe ranks #1 on Google.
in my country this is called kremšnita!
I've made puff pastry...it's not hard, it's just time consuming..
Cut your Pastry to size before baking
I can't get to the recipe
Score the pastry in squares before cooking it.

These are custard squares.
