  • Avenged Sevenfold perform "Chapter Four" at the Sands Steel Stage on the last day of the Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA
    8/11/13
    Happy 10 Year Anniversary to "Waking the Fallen" !
    Sorry for the shaking camera. I'm short, and the people in front of me were very tall. Also, the seating section signs were blocking the view. This was one of the harder shows I've taken videos at

    The post chorus harmony is one of my top favorite guitar harmonies in metal. Love it, but Syn come on man, that hairstyle reminds me of bruno mars.

    I'm fucking amazed at how down to a T Shadows can always nail the lyrics live. I would kill for the ability to sing a hundredth of the way that he can.

    Agreed! I'd love to hear all of those live as well. I want to hear them start playing "Burn it Down" again. One of my all-time favorites from them!

    Ive noticed this too, they never really vary the setlists, they have so many great tracks that they never play :(

    Once the new album comes out the set will feel more fresh.

    Harsh, Syn looks quite happy quite a lot. Just because he's not hugely animated doesn't mean he's unhappy. He's never really been happy and smiley.

  • @michaelsmith4691

    Syn's not "unhappy", on stage. He's focusing. Zacky's the same way.

    Agreed. I went to Sabbath the night before. I've been seeing A7X for about 10 years now and I've noticed that their sets have been getting shorter and shorter... and they pretty much stick to the same songs. We'll always hear "Bat Country" "Unholy Confessions" "Afterlife" "Almost Easy" and "Critical Acclaim." I get that they're set staples, but when your set is only 10-11 songs long it gets a little old and tired knowing half of it before they even start playing.

    Yeah, I've noticed that. It's been that way for a few years. This night was like my 15th time seeing them, and it seems like he's just going through the motions now. His playing was kinda sloppy as well. Maybe when they add some new stuff to the set he'll look like he's back into it.

    @TomWhaley621  11 лет назад +1

    Agreed. I'm getting a little tired of seeing them live to be honest. As great as the show is, and the performances they put on, I can only sit through "Bat Country" and "Welcome to the Family" so many times haha I'd like to hear some deeper cuts from "Waking the Fallen" and "City of Evil." Definitely their more interesting stuff.

    If you had to go on stage almost every single night for the past 10 years i think you'd look a bit unhappy on stage to

    • @TomWhaley621
      @TomWhaley621  10 лет назад +5

      Yeah, sure, it can definitely become a repetitive career... but that's why you gotta change things up. Play different songs. Do different things to keep you on your feet. Avenged looks tired and bored. Maybe they'll swap some songs out and freshen things up a bit for this upcoming tour.

    • @xryguyx05
      @xryguyx05 10 лет назад +1

      Tom Whaley
      Yeah shadows said they want to play at least 3 songs from every album(excluding sounding the seventh trumpet)

    • @TomWhaley621
      @TomWhaley621  10 лет назад +2

      Ry Guy The problem is that they rotate the same 3 songs from every album on their tours. Their setlists are so predictable.
      Waking - Unholy Confessions, Chapter Four, MAYBE Second Heartbeat
      City of Evil - Bat Country, Beast and the Harlot, MAYBE Seize the Day
      S/T - Critical Acclaim, Afterlife, A Little Piece of Heaven
      Nightmare - Nightmare, Welcome to the Family, Buried Alive
      Their setlists range from 12-13 songs a night, and you can walk into any show and name almost 10 of those songs right off the bat. It makes it so hard for a fan like me, who has been with them since the Waking days, to travel and spend money on these shows when I've heard them play their singles for 10 years now while ignoring an amazing body of material... No other band I see live ignores their discography as much as Avenged. I know STST is the odd-album-out here, but it was their first release... Why not rework something from that album every once in a while for the die-hard fans? It might be a fresh five minutes on stage for them too.

    • @xryguyx05
      @xryguyx05 10 лет назад

      Well when they have songs that long it is hard to play deep tracks because anyone who isn't a die hard fan are going to want to hear the singles. They did take out some songs during uproar 2011 that they hadn't played in a while like M.I.A. and I won't see you tonight part 1

    • @TomWhaley621
      @TomWhaley621  10 лет назад +4

      Ry Guy And that Uproar Tour was one of the most exciting tours they've done in a while, because we had the chance to hear something different. Avenged needs to play longer shows, because they're really alienating a lot of people with their setlists. They're well established by now, with millions of fans worldwide. It's time to start catering to the actual fans now, and not just the ones who heard the newest song on the radio... I've seen hundreds and hundreds of shows, and I swear, Avenged is the ONLY band that I see that doesn't do their discography justice. People who became Avenged fans during, say, Nightmare, or even the self-titled, have NEVER heard half of the songs off of City and Waking live... and those are the groundbreaking albums! I will give them some credit for the Hail to the King tour because they did play 14 songs and a guitar solo, which is two more than usual... haha but they're a band that needs more than an hour and 15 minutes on stage. They've got six albums out and they're selling arenas. Give the fans a 2 hour show that shows respect to your body of work, and for the fans that want to actually hear something that isn't Bat Country or Welcome to the Family.
