    Per The Cannon Pod/Different Knock, Martinelli is statistically the most isolated winger in Europe. We need balance, and he'll be back to his best. Xhaka was that balance, now we need to get in a consistent 6/8 to make sure that he's receiving the ball going to the center of the field rather than deep on the touchline.

    Love this show so much. First thing I turn on when I get ready for the day.
    I'm personally sold on Sesko as our striker signing, I am very high on him and think the profile fits really well.
    However, when we talk about "91 goals, do we really need a striker", just remember that in 13 EPL matches last year we scored 1 or 0. I'm not saying we have to score every match, but I sure want to. And I think our 91 goals stat is a bit skewed by the "piling on" effect of some of our bigger wins - we get a second or third and it seems we hit 5 or 6 when the opposition is chasing trying to get back in the match.
    The point is: we don't need a striker and winger generically because of lack of goals; we need those two in order to give something different and effective when we're 0-0 or 0-1 in the 75th minute.

    When plotting ratings out of 10, EDGE magazine is a brilliant example of how to grade.
    E.g. 5 = average. 6 = decent. 7 = good. 8 = excellent. 9 = astounding.
    10 = revolutionary. That last one doesn't quite translate to player ratings.

    I think Havertz's form will have changed Arteta and Edu's requirement of a new striker. I think instead of a big name, they can now look at a young striker with potential that Arteta can coach to a top level and slowly integrate into the team via rotation.

  • @HolloVVpoint
    @HolloVVpoint 29 дней назад +2

    There are fine margins at the top and despite how well the team has done goal wise, we still need an instinctive striker someone who can sniff out a goal in those games like the Villa game or the others in which we failed to finish our chances and there was a load of them. Havertz has been great but he doesn’t have the instincts to be a striker and that is apparent in some of his decision making.

    Hi Charles,
    I agree with most of your ratings except Odegaard. That guy covered literally every blade of grass in every game. Never stopped running. Simply put, the midfield/team won't work without him. Definitely a 10 for me. Would have probably given Saka an 8 not in terms of performance but, purely because there were games were he could have clearly done more.

    Hi Charles, considering last season the 6 depth was Rice Partey Jorginho with Havertz at 8. With Havertz now at CF and Rice seemingly first choice 8. Is it not important to sign a first choice 6 and have Partey and Jorg as backup 6, rather than one in and one out. Otherwise the numbers will be shorter than last year and there will be a lot more games next season. Selling Partey would mean we need 2 midfielders and not sure we'll find someone on the level as Partey that's reasonable priced.
    If for example Partey, ESR leave and elneny has already left. Partey gets replaced by Bruno G and ESR gets replaced by Nwaneri. I'm not sure Jorginho Vieira Nwaneri as depth is strong enough to last a whole season across all competitions

    Hi Charles,this is (in my humble opinion)how we move forward next season,bare with me. 1. We have to think about playing Jesus as a left 8(he is tenacious likes a tackle,and wants to be amongst the play) because,he can pull out left,Martinelli(they have a good connection) can cut inside and he(jesus) can exchange with Kai and go past him if he drops in the 8 In match play 2.Get Osimhen and Zirkzee(sell Eddie) 3.Get Nico w or Kudos, to cover B. 4.At the back Diomande(good on the ball,two footed,good at breaking the lines) and if(flexibility)we play three at the back,he is the middle of Saliba and Gabriel,finally!he could also be ideal cover for Thomas p in DM (allowing Thomas to play one more year while he (Diomande beds in. An Alternative to Jesus as an 8, Frankie Djong 8 or 6 or Yusuf Fofana.

    The whole front line across the board, including the midfield, needs quality additions in order to sustain itself a full season. We need not only a striker, but also a number 8, perhaps a pacey winger too if one is available. The left back position is another one we have to get it resolved, we can't keep rotating it with three or four players, without any consistency and ryhtm there.

    My choice of signing for the forward line would be Rafa Leao - more of a wide forward than a striker but a player who allows Jesus, Havertz, Martinelli, Trossard and Saka to interchange and rotate. It would give Arteta more options and tactical flexibilty and with rotation the quality drop off would be minimal.

      Obi Martin is 16-years old and, while clearly promising, can't realistically expect minutes beyond a few domestic cup games in the short-term. I really don't think we need to worry about blocking his progress for at least another 2 years - by which time we'll have a more concrete idea about his standing. While there's to suggest Obi Martin could be exceptional, on a more general note this club's fanbase needs to learn to stop hyping up youth academy players... particularly given the half-decade dry spell in meaningful first team promotions. Ideally, we'd bring in a level raiser CF... Ideally you look for someone superior to Havertz - someone with a different profile and greater prowess as a finisher. Isak is the dream but it's admittedly unrealistic.

Wrong question: Scoring 6 hat tricks against Sheffield and West Ham or beaten up Chelsea is not the same as 2 goals against City and Liverpool away.We desperately need a striker who settles tough games in our favor by scoring the game changing goals. Not adding the 3rd in a game we have already won.

    Your scoring criteria doesn't make sense. ESR, Partey & Tomiyasu made next to zero impact on our season, why did they all get above avg ratings? They didn't do anything, that's not good or even average, that's bad, very bad.
    Also just generally you both just seem to really overrate our bench players. Tomiyasu's fine, he's not a bad player, but "an 8 for performances" is just not true, I know absence makes the heart grow fonder but let's at least try to be honest.
    Same thing with ESR, you say how great he was when he played but he wasn't, otherwise he would have played more, he was average, you all hyped up his average performances and then were shocked when he wasn't rewarded for those average performances with more game time.

    • @scorpionsrock1511

      You hit the nerve with me. It’s baffling how some of Arsenal podcasts hype up ESR to the Ronaldinho level and bash Arteta for not giving him minutes. Arteta has given him minutes more than he actually deserves. He played mediocre at best. I can play better than him. ESR had more minutes than Viera and didn’t actually played any better. This biased views about players, is very off putting to listen to podcasts. Honestly.

      I think Arsecast Extra and Arsenal Vision was analysing ESR and I really understand being biased towards academy players (because I’m not only Arsenal supporter, but also England supporter).
      The thing where it frustrates me is that as fans/supporters, we don’t know the full story of what’s happening behind the scenes.
      We consider certain situations as black and white and jump on either camp very (often) quickly, be this on Arteta’s or ESR’s! This has become a “bashing contest” for the opposite camp.
      I feel sorry and very bad for ESR, but on the other hand, isn’t that what Arteta is getting praised for (setting some standards at AFC about non-negotiables)?
      Plus, podcasters have extra responsibility to respect all AFC staff, from cleaners to Directors.
      Otherwise will be on the same page with AFTV, and will lose the sensible fans/supporters.
      The biases towards ESR and talking crap about Arteta’s handling it, is way of the mark! It reminds me of Auba’s situation when a lot of podcasters (Arsenal fans) jumped on Arteta’s throat.

    • @Nostradanus86
      @Nostradanus86 28 дней назад +1

      @@scorpionsrock1511 I personally think ESR was drastically overweight & felt a niggle throughout the seasons as you said it's too hard to nail down the actual issue, given Nketiah has been given many opportunities but again some game time have been miserable 2min to 10mins.

    • @scorpionsrock1511
      @scorpionsrock1511 19 дней назад +1

      Exactly. I thought he looked very overweight and it affected his ability to run. I don’t know what these podcasters are watching, are we watching the same game & same players? They claim that ESR played great! Did he? Really?
      They’re so quick to jump on Eddie for not performing though?
      At our daily work, I’ve got a lot of staff that are over performing and under performing, but I don’t try and put them in the same category just because they’ve been there longer (equivalent to academy). I try to keep it fair and treated based on performance. I hope I made sense.
      What if ESR is behaving like a rat in training? We don’t see that, do we?
      Some time ago, there was a video of Lacca throttling a young player and Cedric got in the middle to separate them. Lacca throttled Cedric?! WTF??? That’s a proper rat’s behaviour.
      About Eddie, I stand (and agree with you) that he’s had his chances and best interest for both parties is that he carried on with his career at another club.
      Arsenal FC have raised the standards way above these players (at this moment in time) and they’re just not moving up with the club. There’s no need to overly compliment or bash them.
      I fell in love with ESR against Chelsea a few years ago (before Christmas time, when we couldn’t buy a win), but his performances have deteriorated massively and looks like Arteta and his team are not able to turn the situation around… But it might have something to do with ESR attitude? He might not want to turn the situation around???
      That’s what I would have liked to say.
