It’s obvious that Americans have lost their minds and want the literal best their money can buy for pennies and nickels. I think it’s the older folks though.
I remember when all the gm vehicles only had 3-4 trims im looking at 99-06 we had silverado (base/wt) LS,LT and lastly SS and gmc it was similar but both do have vehicles you cannot buy even if you want to such as a 3/4 ton suburban that only the government is allowed to have now a days but also the suburban and tahoe did get a wt trim that was sold to the public at one point but you do not see them too often and when you do its very strange because it doesn’t seem right
One of the kids in my middle school's parents had a base Suburban from the '80s, that was REALLY basic. My dad's base model pickup was slightly nicer - it had the double-skinned roof panel (a sheetmetal "headliner") on the single cab, while Suburbans omitted that and you could see the bare roof support ribs. Vinyl seats, rubber floor mat and if you didn't get the third row, no mat behind there at all just a steel pickup box floor enclosed with windows. This is not that, and if there's anything close now it's fleet only.
@@diecastcarsmodels5496 I really do agree, but for a full size truck or SUV this is as good as you can get for the money. We are lucky to get a V8 these days.
I don't know what chevy was thinking with this new column shifter they designed. What was wrong with the old ones that actually worked like a column shifter and not this weird pull pattern. They were on the last generation, and they worked perfectly well.
Yes this is still overpriced in the current market. It should be in the 55-60K range for a base model. I guess the discounts will get you just under 60K. The funny part is that "all of the extras" you get on the base model isn't out of good will. It streamlines the assembly line to avoid too many combinations of add ons that actually improve profitability for the company. Just like in the 1900's when power windows were an option till they could just put them on every trim and eliminate having to make two different door cards and improve the profitability overall of a vehicle.
I'd say this is a fair price considering it's a Suburban (not a Tahoe). You're basically paying extra for all that massive cargo space. But yeah, if you don't need it, might as well save some cash and go with the Tahoe.
i mean the car is beautiful but there were a lot of complaints about the axel in the back being too down and hitting stuff...like off-roading or sand dunes.
Base does not mean stripped like the sixties. You cannot sell cars priced this high without offering a lot of standard features. Higher trim equals more complexity and more expensive repairs.
They must sell so few of the base models that its cheaper production wise to slam all the major features into all of them rather than make different lower trim parts for the couple base models they sell
“Typically you never see these around.” Yeah you do! Ever since GM started out pricing the LT, and Premier models, the majority of buyers are opting for the LS. There’s no reason a base model Suburban should cost over $50k, they cost around $11k to manufacture, and that price hasn’t changed since 2007! Plus these things tank in value. After a few years you can find them on used lots for half the price!
Great Review but I will stick with my 17 K2XX Suburban as to replace it with one of the same trim level would be over 100k CDN. The only mistake that you made during the video and its not a surprise as you are not the only one to make it is calling the Suburban an extended Wheelbase Tahoe, it is not. The Suburban is not a bigger Tahoe with a bigger storage area. The seating and storage is quite different from the third row back. One of GMs mistakes was renaming the GMC Suburban the Yukon XL, it should have got its own Name and not be confused with the Yukon. @@G-RatedI live in Canada and heated seats are not a gimmick. Ventilated seats are totally unnecessary on a cloth trim car though. This is very carefully thought out by Chevy. If this had heated seats I would buy it in an instant. Thus they excluded it.
@@TheBMurda Contrary to what you may believe, it gets freezing cold in the States as well. People here have been buying Tahoes and Suburbans in cold climates without heated steering wheels or seats for decades. Suddenly people believe they actually *need* a heated surface area or Apple CarPlay in a base model truck or else the price isn’t justified but that’s just asinine.
@@TheBMurda I’m fully aware of what N. America is, “the states” is what I meant. There was no need for you to mention Canada as if the states don’t also get freezing cold was the point. You’re the one acting like they’re two separate entities with completely different climates. It’s colder right now in Cleveland than it is in Ottawa.
To those complaining about its price do keep that in mind that in the current carmarket breaking even is not easy, and since they use people on contract and not temporary agency workers their costs is quet high. If more people would buy GM cars their prices would probably be lower, much lower. It is either government bail out or high prices, or both that keep the American Motors alive. It is good to see that as it was in the best GM getting back into making cars for their users and not based on general frameworks - thinking of the middle seating in the front row, although I think it needs some work design wise, as it could be better. Yes, it is important to prevent incest of economkes, but it shouldn't be at the expense of those that could actually work on its own, instead those that did or could only work at a lost should have been outsourced to foreign designs.
Do u actually believe that if GM, or name a corporation sold more product, they would pass savings on to customers, instead of passing profit to shareholders????
@billydanzz Well, honestly, I believe they are restricted to take as much profit as they want in the form of dividends as GM, AM, and god knows who else has been receiving financial support from the government, in this case, from taxpayers. So, they are required in exchange to employ a certain amount of people whether they break even or not. That is why they stopped back then Pontiac from manufacturing as they refused this deal in exchange for a bailout, so they decided to go bankrupt instead. Plus, they also had to provide a market for foreign products as that is how the global economy works; you allow as much as they allow you to bring to their market. Would they pass savings onto their customers is an ethical and moral question as the whole country supported their operations for quite a long if I am not mistaken, they've been operating with a loss since the 60s. They were just too blind and proud of their national symbol to admit it. Keep in mind that at the beginning of car manufacturing, there was a market as only some people had them, then they manufactured cars that lasted decades without a problem that is when they realized that if their cars lasted long, they would be left with nothing to produce while because it was a status and national symbol they were to pay their workers no matter what. So, they allow foreign cars to break into the market and have a reason to let people down.
Y’all say anything outside of your personal preference is “ridiculous”. The reality is the 24-inch wheels on this Suburban look like proportionate 22’s.
I’ll never buy another vehicle with a front bench seat. I’ve had both a center console and a seat like this in a vehicle this size. No center console is a deal breaker.

@@G-Rated You can call it a gimmick but it’s not a gimmick. Is it necessary? No. Is it a gimmick? No. And Canada is part of North America…
They make base models????
All those goodies but no power tailgate?
The wheel/tire size is right. The optional bigger wheel sizes look ridiculous, IMO.
Y’all say anything outside of your personal preference is “ridiculous”. The reality is the 24-inch wheels on this Suburban look like proportionate 22’s.
@ That is correct. Btw, tiny little wheels on jacked up troops look stupid too. Deal with it.
If Chevy already has the Suburban, what's the argument for a 9-passenger Tahoe?
@@TheFJ61 suburban doesn’t fit in the garage.
Both can get 9 passenger seating, but you just get to pick the amount of cargo space you need
@91326 lol I have a friend who has a Silverado and THAT doesn't fit in his garage.
Only 36.000 miles waranty for a brand new vehicule in USA? 😢
wow I'm so glad I do not need a car that big, those MPGs are sickening.
I’ll never buy another vehicle with a front bench seat. I’ve had both a center console and a seat like this in a vehicle this size. No center console is a deal breaker.
If GM thinks people will pay 3k for super cruise and then also have to pay a monthly subscription for it to work, they and crazy.
Mindless consumers will pay it.
There are alot of standard luxury features for a basemodel, why not make a barebones model for a good price whitout all the luxyrys for 40-45k as a base price
i wish if it came in saudi arabia like that
This vehicle would be perfect for Uber!
Hello
Car Confections,
I have a question would you buy a 2024 Honda Pilot or 2024 Toyota Highlander for Family, just asking which is a better option
Right now we have a 2022 Honda Pilot AWD Touring and has 34K miles on it and it rides very smoothly, but again I'm a really big fan of Luxury SUV'S I would change it to like a Mercedes Benz GLS 450 or 580, or the Cadillac Escalade V series or even the BMW X7
They just did a best 3 Row Midsize Family SUV, believe the best one was the Toyota Grand Highlander.
I’d say the grand Highlander is the better buy
We prefer the Honda Pilot!
@@CarConfections I agree ❤
Should be $20k.
still too expensive
Is this price before or after the transmission gives out?
They won’t. Be positive about stuff .
This ain’t Kia or Hyundai. Not sure where you’re getting that from.
i got 150k on escalade transmission doing Uber in NYC traffic it just started shuddering
2025. When screens are getting bigger and engines are getting smaller.
Air Force probably didn't answer because that's a Navy jet
