At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

They always said she was a danger to the dynasty, but ever since the sultan freed and married her, she’s been doing a lot of good things for the people, and even did many more good things for the people as she got older
This is why this part of last seson became one of my favoritts as it shows Hurrem and Mahidevran staying out of the intiges haveing had enough while comeing to terms with things and seeking peace for everything bad they done it is rather beatiful to see and to me more powerful then any action or powerplay seens

One constant? She was the most inconsistent character on the show.
@princess7jasmine ummmm I mean she was on the show from beginning to end.... more so than 95% that left at some point.... and played by the same actress right thru.... I don't know how much more constant you can get 🤷♀️🤔⁉️
@@eastsider7301 By inconsistent I don't mean she disappears from the show or gets replaced. I'm saying her personality, relationships, and the like change all the time. For example, she's never really been Hürrem's friend because she's on Mahidevran's side until Hürrem and her magically get along now? Forgetting everything they've done and said to each other? Even if they somehow made amends (this was never shown) it would not be enough for Hürrem to entrust her with Suleiman.
Earlier, Hürrem claims she knows Gulfem to be impartial and fair, except this isn't true because at that point Gulfem was on Mahidevran's side.
Fantastic grave scene. Vahide gave us all acting lesson.
