A good second view that I have only just come across. The twin motor performance I have on order for delivery in August has 19” wheels, a blue interior with no seat back pockets, and a grey exterior, all other wheel sizes, trim and colour options are at extra cost. Heated seats and steering wheel are also an extra cost option. It’s not a cheap little car. Latest models have badge on the boot and the side badges deleted, and the steering wheel switches/paddles are modified.
A fan of the EX30 design and offering but just BEWARE that the cheapest version does NOT have a HEAT PUMP so expect to have at least a 30% reduction of the range when running in colder climates, which is very poor considering the max range is 209 miles!!! So getting only around 140mile range for a £33k electric vehicle is shocking and no excuse and heat pumps should be standard on all EVs.
My EV without a heat pump claims 214 miles but in reality is 180 ish summer and 150 ish winter. It does drop 15% in winter, not sure if a heat pump will actually make a lot of difference.
Not having a heat pump on your EV may not dramatically improve your range if you run your EV in a country/climate that is constantly 20-30’C all year round but if you get climate extremes, a heat pump is a non brainer and not having one is just manufacturing cost cutting. In addition to provided efficient cabin heat, a heat pump can aid in preconditioning the battery pack to improve range, efficiency, performance and prevent battery degradation.
My tesla from 2019 dont have a heat pump and it aint really a big deal and i live in Sweden. But allways better to have a heat pump for sure. The EX30 Extended range is trully nice. Way better then all other
Great review. I had a test drive last week loved the car, but alot of drivers having software issues, waiting for so called updates, so won't be ordering one at the moment.
Thank you for another second look. I notice the film production is also improving, though a work in progress. One way of looking at this car is that it is Volvo’s interpretation of Geely’s platform. There is a lot to like about it - Scandie design, very green, drives well. The showstopper for me is just too much is in the iPad on the dashboard which in my view makes it unusable. To look at the alternative interpretations of this platform, Volvo are going up against at least Zeekr and Smart. In my view Smart has it especially if you go for one of the Brabuses against the 4WD EX30.
@@pprender1 I have yet to try it, but I usually do not like Mercedes handling, so am not surprised. The speed and four wheel drive count for a lot though.
I really really want to love this car but I just can't reconcile how much the Renault Megane ev is just so much more practical and better value for money, including actual displays and push button controls. The volvo is probably a really nice drive but is it value? Not sure. Maybe a future iteration of this will pull me in, or the Cross Country version.
Please include insert shots, like when you are talking about the squarcle, i would like to see the steering wheel so that i can see what u are talking about
Thank you for your review. I am considering (next year) giving the e-Golf to the kids and getting used i4 40 or Polestar 2 RWD (if coming off 1 year lease). Thoughts?
And the Allegro introduced the Quartic steering wheel - way before all of these squircles. And yes, Squircles are a thing : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squircle?wprov=sfti1
Unfortunately, this trim is too expensive, not only compared to Tesla (that offers more features at a lower price) but even against the other cars build over the same platform, I mean the smart #1, smart #3 and the Zeekr X. The only real competitive Volvo is the Core, that has almost the same internal features of a Panda... A shame, because is so nice in terms of drive and esthetically speaking.
To me the interior looks cheap a bit like the vw id3 but now VW have learned and now updated the interior space with better materials, every time you touched anything like the glove box etc it sounded so cheap
It has a higher ride height than a golf. I took delivery of my EX30 three weeks ago, it has almost identical ride height as the Toyota C-HR that I had previously. Like the C-HR, it has similar space to a Golf / Cupra Born.

In that white/baby blue colour it looks absolutely gorgeous
Very eye-catching
No one mentions how nice sounding (closing) the doors are! Thump

Fantastic car. Back seats are a little cramped for adults but great car nonetheless.
I think so too
This car ain’t for the people that have adults in the back.

Apparently, the Smart is a pig to drive 🤷♂️

Hard to argue with you.
I’ve driven both, the Volvo is in another league entirely👍
Best car on the roads for sure!!!
Ordered my Ex30 single motor extended range 🙌how do you activate adaptive cruise control 🤔 my Ex30 will be here end September 🙌🙌🙌#1stEV
One of the panels on the steering wheel activates it

Noted. This video shows it's all.

@@NevoEVReviewIreland thank you :-)
“Squircle” is an actual word .. so we’re good 👍.. great video by the way.
Yes! Thank you!
I love it.

I would go for the used Polestar 2. It is super solid, rides so well and you get it for a good price now.
I’m planning on buying one 😊
Nice! Any decision on colour?
@@NevoEVReviewIreland either the crystal white or onyx black (or whatever car JPMG have in stock in Cork) 😊

Glad you enjoyed that 😁
Squircle was originally used by Fiat for the Panda!

Welcome
I wish cars still came with lever/button controls as I dont like touchscreens. They look awful with prolinged use.
Cheers mate
In the rear and not in the boot lol

Hello mate Geely are doing well
Yes they are
When all said and done…just a Smart#1 but less versatile, more expensive with no eye-line Speedo
Have you driven both ?
It's a cracking car
I seem to have unsubscribed.. resubd!
Mad money for so little space.
Needs a HUD to differentiate between this and the other small electric SUV with no display in front of the driver
The dash is not for me. I like to have old style dash.

Is it fair that Volvo calls this an SUV? Isn’t it very similar to a Golf?
It has a higher ride height than a golf. I took delivery of my EX30 three weeks ago, it has almost identical ride height as the Toyota C-HR that I had previously. Like the C-HR, it has similar space to a Golf / Cupra Born.
You've missed the fact that the software is shite. And the filler cap doesn't lock which is cheap.
Massive update coming next week
So two comments by you hating the Volvo? Have you had a bad experience owning/driving one?
The silly dated Tesla interface spoils it for me. Annoyances everyday.
When will they ever listen? people want a driver display and sensible buttons.
And your point about the key is bollocks.
Explain please?
Why on a bespoke EV is there still a sh!tty pull like a bonnet?
Lazy camera work, slipping in. (Then a camera goes down)
I know I know.
Tell me. Do you prefer the POV or my present and edit in b roll?
