Literally what I was thinking when listening to that! I was thinking I'm sure this is indirectly at phreak and is just hitting every other streaming rioter
What happened with Phreak? Haven't been playing league since 2019, only showed up cus of artwork of new Twitch skin and my brother complained to me about Skarner rework while I remember in my past that I dislike reworks of old champions because old champions dont get an alt skin that pays homage to their original design either by colour or some accessories also some reworks tho they look good but i feel they ruin the character's original appeal which kills my interest in playing them and more not wanting to play the game.
@@xRocketzFighterx Nothing specific but everytime he opens his mouth on stream he is instantly clipped spewing a weird balance take that no one agrees with in an aggressive manner that belittles anyone who asks a question. Keep in mind he is the lead gameplay designer and yet he constantly comes off as pigheaded and close-minded.
You can't tell me a skarner recall emote will require the company too much money... I can do it in a day MAX easily. That's just pure laziness from riot
@@peterszabo-toth2063 Sweet baby shit I am sure. Maybe they looked at the old one and said he is a MALE Scorpion he can't be stand on his tail and become tall.
Get approval from management and investors for making an animation for a low cost skin (ignoring that investors will always say no,) Design emote via storyboarding art, pass to mamagement for approval, pick an animator with experience in inhuman designs, have them make the emote, pass to management for approval. Make adjustments. Send animation to programmer, add it to the game, playtest, bug fix, send to manager for approval, and done. Considering wages, one emote at minimum costs a few thousand dollars. Alternatively as a solo dev, animate it, add to game, done in about an hour. Ive yet to see a single case where a bigger team makes more content.
Quickshot "has gone" (forced to leave) probably because of the brilliant idea one of the caster colleagues had by uploading a video on twitter where quickshot did a mild joke dancing and saying do like hitler or smothing like that (which ngl was hillarious) while pointing the arm upwards. But as you know, in Germany there are laws against even doing jokes about nazism and this type of stuff, so as per riot, they clean their hands and avoid all possible PR damage to their brand. (Just to make clear when i said there are laws that prevented from people from doing jokes i meant it as downplaying or straight denying what did happen)
@@jasoncarnelian3325 That is NOT what is illegal. He tried to IMITATE the hitler salute, which in Germany is mass instigation/hate speech. You can make a nazi joke, just don't be as stupid as the guy that probably will have some lawsuits incoming now.
Yea, If anyone giving RIOT an excuse for taking more than 2 years to Rework a champ while also degrading the quality of that REWORK champ's skin then they are pure idiot.
To be absolutely fair if I owned this skin I would be more pissed that Skarner looks more ugly now than before. He grew from cute little gold scorpion to a fucking yellow truck, I bet construction workers are happy to finally be able to play as an excavator ingame.
to be fair what he did was bad, but it def should not have lead to them letting him go. apparently he was joking around and dancing with the hitler salute in Germany and that video got posted on twitter.
He was a big part, but he also was definitely one of the worse modern casters LoL has. While he was imo a downgrade to other casters, a lot of other casters have talked positively about him, that it was great to cast with him, especially when they were new.
@@theogthugcatTo be fair, it wasn't bad at all. He was horsing around off camera. Also that was not a hitler salute, he was just waving his arms, and goldberg said do the hitler or something like that. And even if he did do it, so what, he is just messing around OFF STREAM. He wasn't live.
For the record Riot wants to avoid any PR problem and i know who´s to blame and its nor Phreak. 2 years ago, Blastoise fromer Rioter and some what succesful streamer had a little naughty convo about how pdiphila was not so bad. For this moment he wasnt in Riot anymore but everybody knew he worked for the company and whenever he liked or not he was still representing what Rioters are or Riot looks for an employee. With that said theres a thread in Spideraxe Twitter/X account where one of the Rioters at charge to manaage Rioters that stream where he basically said that Blastoise abused his trust and work to grow as a streamer using Riot as a launching pad into content creation which is the second (and real) reason why Riot is probihiting monetization. In easier words Riot doesnt want emloyees using their status in the company to jump forward into CC.
I'm willing to bet that the streaming decision is because of Phreak, although we have much more insight into balance changes Phreak gets giga flamed for saying anything and riot ends up looking bad in the process (you guys can just type karthus R btw). Either that or it's a legal issue with rioters making money on the side during work time...
@@MT-so2mkI still think riot august gives really good feedback to the audience and he’s a human, he’s gonna make mistakes (example the velkoz thing saying “he’s not bad rn” looked at stats and changed his mind)
I actually love August's insights on why the game is certain way. While I didn't always agree with his insights or opinions it was still nice to now and then hear them and understand where is Riot comming from. TBH it might actually be because Phreak who decided on Janna and Maokai being strong and not getting nerfed was also publicly abusing those champions and that created a lot of resentment for Riot so it was easier to make it harder for rioters to stream than just telling Phreak to shut his mouth.
I agree that the time put into skins has clearly been on a decline for a while now, a channel here on YT shows *slight* changes on PBE from feedback (like color and audio tuning) but Riot haven’t even done *those tiny fixes* much recently. The Coven Syndra skin is the last time I remember Riot adjusting something drastically due to player feedback, Smolder’s face doesn’t count. The April Fools skins though - those look like a lot of work went into them.
Coven Syndra only got changed because Syndra mains sent death threats. Otherwise they wouldn't have done anything. Sad that the only time Riot listens to feedback is when the community goes apeshit. Instead of listening to normal feedback from PBE threads.
Skarner's recall is based on sand scorpions/crabs/spiders basically digging themselves into the ground and burying themselves by shaking around to displace the sand and then burying themselves
@@jorgelaborde376 i was going to ask the same thing, it was what came to mind and i thought he was going to dig in and pop out at base. But then he just did a lil 180 😅 huge let down.
@@faresty7279If people don't show a dislike for it, they could just put it out anyways. Heck, they might despite people pointing it out. You're correct it's not live yet. That's why this is the time to bring this stuff up, because this is the most likely time (at least, it's meant to be) it'll get changes.
Finally I have found something that somewhere agrees with me, I kinda hate this new Skarner, I just want him to be a good looking CRYSTAL Scorpion not a Dota 2 Sand King 2.0, plus why does he need to be the one adjust and change drastically and for the worse at that when it comes to Hextech Crystals? Esp in reference to that terrible of Singer idol champ?... 😑
I'm a skarner main and no, the essence of the champion was completely changed, the point of skarner was running and kiting while spamming your abilities, now, every single ability interrumpts your walking with a canalization, and it slows you down so much, you can't chase now because the slow only slows for ONE SECOND, and the canalization just slows YOU, it's unintuitive, and new E doesn't even speed up with movement speed, I will miss old E so much, it was my favorite ability, also, now R is super easy to dodge
I agree. Not a main but I do play the chapion a fair amount. Going super fast and fighting with constant Qs and triforce is really fun and is why I play the champion, and E just feels great to use when you pop the mark and is skill expressive. This new skarner also removes the lore which I was a big fan of!
I've been a skarner main for years now, and that's really disheartening to hear. I haven't played him yet on the PBE, but if what you're saying is the case then his identity has absolutely been changed. As he is currently, he's a very fast juggernaut with pretty damn good sustained damage and the ability to just run through fights if allowed. So much of that is due to his abilities not interrupting his movement - or even autos in the case of Q. While his rework does look fantastic, it seems to have shifted his gameplan entirely from "I can keep up with people and tear through them" to "I'm slow but will make sure everyone else is too" which may not seem drastic, but trust that losing the fluidity of playing skarner in a fight with melee kiting / orbwalking while weaving Qs and auto attacks with ramping movespeed is likely to be a pain point for a fair few skarner players.
yeah, i don't even play skarner, but when i saw it i was like: from crystal scorpion from a extinct race that's kinda of a bruiser, fast and meant to catch you and be fast, to generic scorpion monster (look up Nacrasena from lost ark), tanky and sooo slow, the Q especially feels kinda lazy, like, it used to be skarner shaking crystals and stuff from his body and interacted with his E, now is "pick up rock and auto do more dmg (while not hitting you with the rock until the end, so why do the autos do more damage?) " they don't use his pincers for anything and feels kinda of a missed oportunity, his E is cool at first glance, but the fact that is so much like nunu W but doesn't speed up with mov speed straight up forces you to be slow even if you don't want to, it literally kills old skarner every time you cast it and are slower than your base mov speed or just walking up because it has a ramp up time, also it removed so much skill cap, now even I a mechanicless malzahar one trick can play it, idk, it feels cluncky and souless
You know what I love about some other devs(mainly indie): They don't care if something is gonna cost them a bit of money if a huge part of the community wants it and it is an easily achievable thing, they just do it, cause they're good devs.
You say that like Riot never does anything unless its for money. You know... like having a free to play game with barely any monetization (LoR), or making pretty amazing cinematics that im almost certain don't make back the money their budget demands... Like having no paid progression or advantageous microtransactions... Or putting in custom gamemodes like the one for Soul Fighters... Or developing their lore... Or putting Necrit into one of their games! (Ruined King), need I go fucking on? Can we all stop pretending like Riot isn't better than 95% of its big business gaming competition? We really gonna try to compare Riot to the likes of Blizzard, Activision, Ubisoft, EA, etc.?
@@Haatroxx they just gutted an entire team along with 11% of their employees, which means no more of those fun games. LoR team also got heavily reduced. Rarely get the fun, new, rotating modes anymore. No shit there’s no p2w micro transactions, even they’re smart enough to know that kills the game. No paid progression is a lie, takes 5 minutes to buy a ranked ready account or boost. Riot repeatedly tells us they work on boosters and account sharing but they don’t. Believe Riot outsources most of their cinematic’s so, interpret that how you want. They don’t trust some of their most veteran employees, Quickshot gone, no more August champion streams. A game almost entirely balanced around pro play. The one amazing thing I can think of that Riot has done recently is Arenas. Nobody asked for it but they just suddenly dropped arguably the best game mode yet, so I’ll give them that, but then they took it away. Riot isn’t blizzard level yet, but they’re on the road that leads there.
@@HaatroxxWe're not "pretending" that Riot only does stuff for money - it's true. You're the delusional one. Everything you listed is meant to build anticipation and hype for league or to sell skins. It doesn't matter that Riot is SLIGHTLY better than the big baddies (EA, Ubisoft, etc) - they're still a greedy, terrible, abusive company that treats its players like garbage. Stop making excuses for them.
The ratios were so bad it couldn't even influence build diversity, skarner builds items based on their utility not ratios, this allows those same items to also increase your dmg from your kit. Backwards logic.
I hate the new skarner. He's not a crystal scorpion anymore. More like a rock crab abomination, even looks kinda dusty in game. Gonna miss the shine skarner had
this did not need to be skarner. nothing of old skarner is left and honestly maybe its just me not giving a fuck anymore about league but this feels worse then what they did with aatrox. they gutted aatrox gameplay wise but atleast he still looked like aatrox, got some cool lore as well. this is just skarner in name. they even added him to fucking ixtal of all things.... it also does not help that we waited for this way too long. riot only doing one VGU per year is fucking stupid. both mundo and this are not impressive in any way. also in terms of the controversy. THEY DID THE SAME SHIT TO KAYLE. I STILL REMEMBER THEY TOOK THE AETHERWING KAYLE ANIMATIONS FROM US. I BOUGHT THAT FUCKING SKIN FOR THE ANIMATIONS AND WHAT DID WE GET? FUCKING NOTHING. FU RIOT. i think if they wanted to soften the blow a bit by making him look like something completly different. add a classic skin that is more like his old one. i get it costs money but fucking hell. we are already paying for overpirzed skins and dealing with moneygrubbing riot on a daily basis. give us fucking something for once.
on top of the sands gaurdian skin recall - the earthrune skin that is gonna be deluxe skin??? and the recall is the same as the base. I hope they fix that.
My guess regarding the stream changes for Rioters is that they don't want them to profit off the game when they're already being paid by Riot? The PR reason feels more like an issue that would be dealt with when it happens, and streaming Rioters know that screwing up on stream has bigger consequences for them than for the average streamer
@@felipecouto1102 Maybe use your brain? If they didn't want them being too transparent, they'd outright ban streaming. Mortdog even said that the money he earns from streaming is nothing compared to his salary at Riot, not really that big of a deterrent when you don't earn much from doing it in the first place.
@@valmiro4164 You can make up any excuse you want to defend the billion dollar company, you'll never be better then their lawyers at it You can also go learn what the word ''encourage'' mean
@@felipecouto1102 Firstly, it's "than," you shouldn't go around telling people to "learn a word" when you can't even tell the difference between "then" and "than." Secondly, you didn't even raise a counter argument, you might as well just say "umm, no" because that's what your entire reply meant to me. You didn't have to wrack your brain type out that reply.
Why would riot not want it's employees to profit from the game they work to grow though that sounds like a slight to its workers at best and it wouldn't actually aid anything BUT the PR anxiety
Because of the higher quality they're raising the price of the Earthrune skin. So they're raising the price of one of his skins and lowered the value on another. That's pretty pathetic. Skarner mains can't have a solid W for 5 minutes without something stinking it up.
Considering skins are Riots in-game money maker you'd think would, you know, actually care. My friend damn near lost his mind over the travesty the was the updated Definitely Not Udyr skin... Like yeah, he was a just a guy in a suit before the rework, that was what made it funny, now he's just an ugly abomination.
I wonder if consumer law is ever going to start touching microtransactions such as in-game skins or currency. The fact that the Skarner skin had a custom animation and is now removed could could actually be breaking some European consumer law. Generally if a company makes large changes that could affect a purchased product they are required to inform any customers of it and they, in some sense, need to "re-agree" to the contract. Obviously a League of Legends skin is massively different from a very expensive licensing agreement, but as so many of these companies rely on microtransactions to stay afloat, it's weird to me that nothing really stops them from just stripping things out of the game at will.
8:12 The recall references what scorpions and other sand-based ambush predators do to prepare an ambush. By shaking, they make the sand under them vibrate, making it easy to bury into. In the recall, you can see the ground shaking before Skarner makes the little jump to get inside it (not how it works irl but still cute. The guardian of the sands adds sand textures on everything, and yeah, it's a big rip off
I believe the biggest issue with the skarner rework was the scaling on his abilities. Everything scales off of max HP which no actual skarner player wanted. The reason we fell in love with the champion in the first place was his diversity in build path and unfortunately we are now forced to build tank every game if we want to do any damage. It's quite sad and genuinely made me not want to continue on playing the champion I spent so much time on and many other skarner mains think the same.
@@GammaRayXZ What was Skarner building before? Sunder sky? Deadman's plate? Etc.. what's changed here? I'm sure people will do meme shit with him still like full crit Skarner or something. Will it be good? No. But I'm sure Skarner had maybe 1-2 builds before and wasn't as diverse as you are claiming. Not much has changed.
@@GammaRayXZ The problem isn't that there is hp scalings, I should've specified that the problem was that it was ONLY hp scaling. The skarner we have does tons of damage, the damage isn't the problem. It's the damage type. Plenty of people ran through emerald to GM running off meta builds such as full lethality, crit skarner or full AP. What made it fun was that it was playable and to some extent viable for skarner to run these off meta builds. This first iteration of reworked skarner just completely destroys those fun ideas that us skarner players loved. It's forcing you to play tank and it's extremely unfun.
@@johnathan5906 Skarner isn't as one dimensional as you think. There are multiple players, high elo ones too, who don't play your average "tri force BC" skarner or "iceborn rush deadmans". Naturally it's more common but I seriously don't think you know actually how many people build uncommon items on him. It's a shame because what makes those builds fun is the fact that they work on him because of his unique scaling. And that's what we've been complaining about. Skarner players enjoy being able to be diverse. Forcing skarner to be a one dimensional heavy cc tank shouldn't be forced.
One thing Riot should do is if they do rework players GET TO CHOOSE IF THEY WANT TO REFUND THEIR SKINS. It's should be allowed because what they bought WAS DELETED.
I main Twitch. Twitch has not got a new skin in more than 650 days. So we are finally getting a new one, I thought. Well, the quality of this skin is... "sub-par", to say the least, though I would prefer stronger words. Almost any other skin that Twitch has is better than the new one. And it just feels unfair. It seems like Riot are now doing "less popular champions get less effort skins", and I get that, even though it's unfair, I understand that I will never get a skin that's even half as good as SG Kai'sa for my champion for example, but now they are less effort and are rarely coming out, it just feels like Riot hates me, because they wouldn't charge 950 RP for it, they will charge 1350. It is just so disappointing that more popular champions get the better deal, like for example kai'sa's River Dragon skin, but they also get to pay the same price! I see, that Skarner is basically getting the same treatment. Same skin prices, lower quality. :( it breaks my heart.
The theory my friend had was that they want to discourage people trying to use money to get what they want out of a Rioter. Maybe a straight up bribe wouldn't work, but if you donate money and get your messages seen you might be able to plant ideas or try to shift them towards what you're after. Things like that.
Methinks Riot is "under new management." I guarantee you, most of the time when stupid shit happens in a business, it's because of some new idiot in charge who wants to throw their weight around.
@@trumediamix1oh yes, it was definitely not due to him making a moustache man joke and salute. No, why would riot care about their casters doing n4z1 jokes when LEC is definitely not in Germany, more specifically Berlin. Surely it must be the new & arrogant management that we do not have any knowledge of!!!
Riot should be willing to up the prices of 520rp skins that get reworked to 975rp, provided they give the skins a sufficient upgrade in quality. Would rather some of these older skins that get a fresh coat of paint also get some extra goodies, making it more than a lame sudo-chroma.
As an ex skarner main... YEAH I AM SUPER UPSET ABOUT THAT, THE GUARDIAN OF THE SAND SKIN WAS SO COOL JUST CAUSE OF THE RECALL 😭😭😭 (Also they have to ultra buff him in the jungle, the clear is 4 MINUTE LONG DONE BY A MASTER PLAYER WTF)
I call BS on any sort of "budget" issue riot might claim to be stopping them from making good quality skins. Look at palworld and helldivers 2. No one buys that excuse when there are other companies who do far more for a mere fraction.
I think it's appalling that it kind of went without an echo that Quickshot got fired, and for such a criminally bogus reason. Gouldborg must be feeling awful, I'm sure he didn't expect the consequences to come when posting the video
Monte - Doa - Rivington - Krepo - Deficio - Phreak - and now Quickshot... man the legacy casters are gone, that's just sad.. Nothing last forever 😢.. Medi - Vedi - Drakos - CptFlowers - Jatt - Kobe are the few thats worth hearing now atleast...
Idk man. I dont think any skarner main is gonna like the rework because everything he does now contradicts his old design, he used to be one of the most mobile and opposite of clunky character, his skills didn't have cast times or animation locks, with the exception of E which was very fast, all things considered. His rework is the absolute opposite, he's clunky, his cast times feel horrible, especially his Q, having to stop and cast to grab the stone feels so bad, so does his W, it'd feel way better if his W dropped the slow and just gave him movement speed and the shield with no cast time. His ult has the same issue, huge cast time and you can't even use skills while suppressing enemies, like his old Q that had no cast time. Idk, u like Udyr, this rework feels like the old champ is murdered and just feels completely different to play.
I'm pretty sure that riot not allowing monetized streams for employees in a result of a conflict of intereset. The restriction is really similar to COI restrictions at other companies. I can only guess on the specific conflict in mind, but it doesn't have to be that exact for a big company like RIOT to take action. COIs are a bad look for companies even if they are never acted upon, merely the possibility could mean legal trouble.
I really dislike the design of base skin Skarner especially the three giant stingers. From behind you only see them they cover most of the champion. Also I liked it more when his pincers were big compared to his body. I am so glad I got battlecast Skarner from a chest
I tested today the Skarner Rework, and still needs a lot to be implemented. He has no voices or sounds still, and i guess, the recalls maybe will come in the future.
Xayah and rakan have synergy because they are lovers garen and lux have cute voicelines because they are family. Why can't we have more niche duo interactions
I'm fine with the Riot policy as long as people like August get a raise that is similar to how much money they were making streaming. Cutting off an employee's other form of income is just wrong.
Like they literally have the easiest idea for this recall animation. him digging at the ground and goes underground that's it and just some sand around. No one will say anything
That new rule for rioters it's probably bc of Phreak, Riot don't want to repeat the Phreak incident with any other rioter, since that'll elevate toxicity towards the company and to the rioters a lot.
I could see some reasons for why Riot would ban employees from monetizing, like some non-competition rule with partners and so on but I still think it's wrong, especially in cases like August who IMO did more for players to cut riot some slack than years of PR/Marketing. I find it sad when old skins get left to rot, especially because in many cases skins are a personal preference rather than relying on value and number of effects and so on. Even more so for champs like Skarner which are unlikely to get a lot of new/high quality skins.
I think the goal with the Riot monetization streams is them not wanting to make a financial incentive with power or information. The idea being that Rioters can make more money if they're willing to reveal more insights on stream which could creature some information leaks or, like you said, a potential PR disaster
Streaming things could also be considered overtime by the extension that they are attempting to make money while being employed by the company they are playing the game live. Some in the legal system would argue those are billable hours and not a hobby at that point because those employees are attempting to supplement income using this method.
Quickshot's departure was probably related to the Hitler salute he did on broadcast. I don't remember when it happened exactly, but I saw the clip floating around when that was announced.
"It comes down to cost it takes to create a custom animation" No not really. They earn so much cash on the skins that its unreal, and a recall animation isn't really that much of an investment either, so its not like there is a real money issue. Some higher up just said, remove it the people will buy it anyway. Its pure greed plain and simple.
6:18 you can still have monster and character guys, the Earthrune skin worked because it cutification through golem design, it isn't cool golem anymore it's just generic golem due to lack asymetry to express natre, any sort of nature at all and failling to actully look unique, It's a complete downgrade. I do say the problem right now is he lacks enough fashion to represent the people he rules over now, he looks generic and bland compared to the also generic crystal scorpion but atleast that one had more character, this one needs it.
Quick shot leaving is equivalent to Captain flowers leaving, and is to be put simply devastating to the scene. Not only is this a horrible decision, but sets a terrifying precedent for the future. Let's hope nobody else the community loves makes a mistake. Yeah not saying or doing what he did seems pretty easy but imagine making a mistake and that erases over a decade of hard work and determination. If captain flowers is the voice of na then quick shot is the voice of eu. This will not go unnoticed, a professional of his quality will not simply stroll through the door next week to continue where he left off. This reminds me of the callous decision to remove James Dash. As a frequent viewer of the lcs it has never been the same. The difference with this situation is the desk wasn't the same in na and now the games will never be the same for eu. Truly one of the decisions that riot has ever made
From a business point of view, it makes a lot of sense. Keeping your employees from being paid from streaming your games does seem like a easy way to avoid conflict of interests and PR problems.
It's just an assumption at this point but I think the Quickshot-thingy has to do with the Play-Ins incident you covered on ur Seraphine video a while ago.
I think the biggest contributor to the Riot Streaming change was things like former rioter Blaustoise who knowingly abused his position at Riot to become a content creator.
as someone who actively watches mort's streams this is really disappointing to hear and I hope it doesn't discourage him to continue interacting with the community going forward :(
@2:15 Riot doesn't need anyone's help creating their own PR nightmares, and it's just poor community management. If they're that afraid of potential PR nightmares because their employees are streaming, then that sounds like they haven't done a good job being a company that wouldn't cause PR nightmares. You don't have to be afraid of upsetting your community if you don't do anything wrong to upset your community. Having actual employees interacting with and giving educational information about the media they're interested in is good for the community, not just because the community benefits from that but because Riot gets a direct line to the community and it's social health. Decisions like this are exactly why the playerbase has only gotten more toxic season after season. Riot has lost touch with what it means to run a game that has an active community and have totally embraced the Tencent evil corpo life. Am I the only one who thinks it's absurd that they're allowed to control what their employees do off the clock? Seems like a slippery slope to me, Now it's saying they can't monetize Riot games streams next they'll be saying no Tencent owned games can be monetized. Where does it end? Riot employees can't have a side gig doing Doordash because that would embarrass the company if anyone saw and recognized them? Do better Riot.
as far as I am aware, Quickshot hinted to making a certain salute that Germany doesnt appreciate... in Germany... on live broadcast. Can't find it back myself but I did hear it from Caedrel on his stream and I do remember seeing it myself on the broadcast a bit back.
Might want to be specific with what you are talking about because its unclear if you are saying he did the salute during a Riot broadcast(which would NOT be ok). He didn't make the joke in his professional capacity at all and Germany sucks if it can't even make a joke of itself.
@@jadetrentrichards255I am being vague on purpose because idk how yt's system responde to certain words, but everyone should know it. Also, Germany strictly has a law against it, so I can see why Riot doesnt want to be part of that due to today's cancel culture and stuff. I think it is just sad to work on your career for so long and 3 seconds of out of line decisionmaking makes those 12 years replaceable
Okay got more info cuz now I got to curious, according to a reddit post he actually did the salute in a jokey dancemove way while saying "do the hitler", and yeah that sounds familiar to me so I will go with that info.

In easier words Riot doesnt want emloyees using their status in the company to jump forward into CC.
that makes sense, but i still wish there was another way
I'm willing to bet that the streaming decision is because of Phreak, although we have much more insight into balance changes Phreak gets giga flamed for saying anything and riot ends up looking bad in the process (you guys can just type karthus R btw).

Soul Fighter Samira is still the biggest scam.
Coven Syndra only got changed because Syndra mains sent death threats. Otherwise they wouldn't have done anything. Sad that the only time Riot listens to feedback is when the community goes apeshit. Instead of listening to normal feedback from PBE threads.
Maybe the real effort put into skins was the friends we made along the way

Phase rush+movement speed build was hilarious. You proc E, you zoom!
Well, you should have played it more then, this champion was at the bottom of the playrate for the longest time.
yeah, i don't even play skarner, but when i saw it i was like: from crystal scorpion from a extinct race that's kinda of a bruiser, fast and meant to catch you and be fast, to generic scorpion monster (look up Nacrasena from lost ark), tanky and sooo slow, the Q especially feels kinda lazy, like, it used to be skarner shaking crystals and stuff from his body and interacted with his E, now is "pick up rock and auto do more dmg (while not hitting you with the rock until the end, so why do the autos do more damage?) " they don't use his pincers for anything and feels kinda of a missed oportunity, his E is cool at first glance, but the fact that is so much like nunu W but doesn't speed up with mov speed straight up forces you to be slow even if you don't want to, it literally kills old skarner every time you cast it and are slower than your base mov speed or just walking up because it has a ramp up time, also it removed so much skill cap, now even I a mechanicless malzahar one trick can play it, idk, it feels cluncky and souless
We can blame the guy who once said "just type KARTHUS ULT".
I'm missing plants and roots and vines on Earthrune Skarner :(
Same! They already turned the Hextech line from steampunk into generic blue/copper mechs, I hate that Earthrune is going the same way
The splash art for it looks like they started drawing malphite but then remembered it was skarner.

Not seeing any AD or AP ratio on Skarner's new basic spells kinda scares me.
I hate how that would just force him into one single playstyle
The ratios were so bad it couldn't even influence build diversity, skarner builds items based on their utility not ratios, this allows those same items to also increase your dmg from your kit. Backwards logic.
They added AD ratios to his Q, and AP to his W (or was it his E?). VERY recent change in PBE.

My guess regarding the stream changes for Rioters is that they don't want them to profit off the game when they're already being paid by Riot?
The PR reason feels more like an issue that would be dealt with when it happens, and streaming Rioters know that screwing up on stream has bigger consequences for them than for the average streamer
Yeah, people are trying to galaxy brain this too much, its just Riot being the same old Riot and wanting to avoid transparency as much as they can

Im sure the 5 of them are upset.

Obviously a League of Legends skin is massively different from a very expensive licensing agreement, but as so many of these companies rely on microtransactions to stay afloat, it's weird to me that nothing really stops them from just stripping things out of the game at will.
im a skarner main. no im not feeling right at home to see how riot destroyed my only favourite champion.
poor indie company will bankrupt if they give Xayah and Rakan 1 bonus dancing animation per skinline
The guardian of the sands adds sand textures on everything, and yeah, it's a big rip off
they also botched Sandscourge Skarner I got the skin because I fucking wanted to play with the more realistic looking scorpion now he is just orange
What build was skarner ever doing that didn't include hp items. He already doesn't do dmg with his current kit
@@GammaRayXZ What was Skarner building before? Sunder sky? Deadman's plate? Etc.. what's changed here? I'm sure people will do meme shit with him still like full crit Skarner or something.
And other employees at riot that may know the same inside info, upset another employee gets to “sell” their insider info via stream and making money
Almost 3 years in the work btw
I really dislike the design of base skin Skarner especially the three giant stingers. From behind you only see them they cover most of the champion. Also I liked it more when his pincers were big compared to his body. I am so glad I got battlecast Skarner from a chest

RIP our beloved crystal scorpion welcome another generic earth related scorpion.
Ruined skarner when all he needed was a VGU and a passive,E rework
I could see some reasons for why Riot would ban employees from monetizing, like some non-competition rule with partners and so on but I still think it's wrong, especially in cases like August who IMO did more for players to cut riot some slack than years of PR/Marketing.
I find it sad when old skins get left to rot, especially because in many cases skins are a personal preference rather than relying on value and number of effects and so on. Even more so for champs like Skarner which are unlikely to get a lot of new/high quality skins.
Im sure it will work out for quickshot❤. Hes such a talented caster and he will find a new home. Its riots loss.
Some point I just wonder why can’t Riot get the same fate as Blizzard’s huge ESL project
Skraner's recall looks like he is taking shit

Gonna miss Quickshot. He's been a Riot staple, and one of my favorite casters for the decade I've been playing the game.
Riot’s loss
not mortdog
I guess you could say 'he really got mortdogged' ba dum tskkk
I’m gonna miss quick shot.. He was my favorite caster when I rarely watched the pro games
The anti streaming thing is just Phreak whining ant riot capitulating, bet you anything
It's just an assumption at this point but I think the Quickshot-thingy has to do with the Play-Ins incident you covered on ur Seraphine video a while ago.
I agree whit that rule
Therefore they wont be too excited to leak stuffs before asking
Because there's no money to take theyr minds
I think the biggest contributor to the Riot Streaming change was things like former rioter Blaustoise who knowingly abused his position at Riot to become a content creator.
Quickshot was fired because he did a N@zi salute and said "do the hitler" in a party, or something along those lines.
as someone who actively watches mort's streams this is really disappointing to hear and I hope it doesn't discourage him to continue interacting with the community going forward :(
@2:15 Riot doesn't need anyone's help creating their own PR nightmares, and it's just poor community management.
Skarner still looking like a monster is great. I’m glad they didn’t turn him into a twink.
I hope they make an exception out of Mortdog, he deserves better.
