  • From birth to age four, Dairius Kawewehi was the victim of emotional, physical, sexual, and mental abuse. He spent nearly 10 years in foster care in multiple foster homes. Some of these added to his trauma. He was adopted in 7th grade and yet the pain of so much trauma and abuse persisted.
Dairius survived multiple suicide attempts and found healing through years of therapy and a supportive and safe adoptive family and community. He went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue and was commissioned in the US Navy for nearly seven years.
Darius shares on the power that forgiveness plays in healing from abuse and trauma. He also hares his heart to former and current youth in foster care about finding help and hope in the community around them. Dairius invites former foster youth to join his online support community on Facebook called-- Formerly Fostered Forever Loved.
