How would I fix the temp dial if it is even repairable?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. If this reset procedure is not working, let’s direct our attention to the temperature control thermostat. We have to check to see if the temperature control thermostat is working. To do this, you want to first place your control dial to the lowest or coldest setting. Next, slowly rotate the dial to the highest or warmest setting. During this rotation, you should hear a clicking sound. The clicking sound is our clear indication that your thermostat is still good and in proper working configuration. If you do not hear it click, the thermostat will need to be replaced. My fridge stopped cooling after some guys were working on my solar panels. They shut the power off for couple of minutes then when it came back on my fridge stopped cooling. Do I turn the circuit off while the fridge is plugged or should I unplug it and then turn the circuit off? Really hoping this works

Will this work for older Whirlpool refrigerators/freezers too? Ours was made on 06 -07.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. It will, what’s your update?
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders After troubleshooting I had a bad start relay. Spent $40 to replace it and now the fridge works perfectly again.

Awesome, that’s a pretty friendly price to get your unit back up and running. We appreciate you sharing this.
Enjoy your upcoming weekend Robert.
I can't find that switch in my Whirlpool freezer. Will the one in the fridge do the same thing?
Thanks for watching, your model may only have the switch inside refrigerator acting as a single stage/point contact.
Have you performed this reset procedure with refrigerator switch?

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Not a fix for me. I think my compressor is failing on my 7 yr old, WHIRLPOOL gold fridge. So angry. Shame on you, WHIRLPOOL. 🤬
@@karenb6791notakaren
Bummer indeed…7 years is too short of a time to live. Will you be replacing compressor or purchasing a new refrigerator?
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders New fridge. It's ruined my hardwood floors twice. Just replaced the water pump in the back that was a slow drip into the basement, found that one by chance! Then, we came home from being gone for 12 days and the water dispenser must've shorted out and ruined/cupped a 15' section of flooring in front of the fridge. I've replaced two freezer fans on this fridge already. I'm done!

I have an LG Moffatt MRFW1627W-V and I can't adjust my temp dial and have had frost issues in my freezer since prior to the issues with the temp control arising but i don't know if a condensation issue on the ceiling in the fridge also recently preceded the issue with the temp dial or as as result.
Keep us posted on your project.
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders it’s an older model fridge that doesn’t have digital controls, ice makers, or any of those other electronic bells and whistles.
@@massomouse1556
Thanks for the reply, in this case you will rotate the small plastic temperature wheel. 😎👍
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I can't, it's jammed.
@@massomouse1556
Oh no...🤔...that’s not good. Has it always been jammed or have you been able to move temperature wheel back-and-forth recently & it got stuck?
Those wheels can get very stubborn over the years, especially when staying stationary in the same position for over a decade.
That worked...thanks!
You are welcome. 😁👍🧰
Definitely worth a try. Thx!

If my button broke
Is there a way to fix that button ?
Thanks for watching & there is indeed. We don’t have a video on that at the moment.
My whirlpool freezer doesn’t have that button to push
Thanks for watching, any update? In that case, you will need to unplug refrigerator and leave unplugged for a minimum of 5 minutes to perform reset.
Some refrigerators take roughly 30 minutes being unplugged to perform a full system reset. If you have the time, we recommend unplugging for 30 minutes.
You never explain why you rapidly push the button 3 times? 🙄
@@rikmuao4699
Thanks for watching, we do. This is a reset procedure from our owners manual. We follow the exact reset guidelines set forth by the manufacturer.
It resets the computer and compressor safety while power is still applied. 🧰
Whoa, too much 'outer space' stuff here for me. I'm still using the four-on-the-floor model.
You dont have enough room above or around your fridge for air movement, IMHO
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

The LG refrigerator I have doesn't show the actual temperature. It only shows the target temperature.
Thanks for sharing, did the reset fix this issue?
Omg! Thanks so much. It’s below freezing after just an hour or so😀. Whoops. It went down to 17 degrees. Hours later back up to over freezing. Bummer. Any thoughts?

Ohhh...our power kept being ugly over and over and over😮!!!! And I keep having to try to reset and defrost. It's crazy!!
Thanks for watching, that’s no fun. Electrical outages and surges when power is restored can cause havoc on electronics, including refrigerators. Hopefully another reset or two will help fully reset and reconfigure unit.
My circuit breaker is behind my fridge of all places.
Thanks for watching, that’s odd...🤔
How did the reset go?
I went thru 3 fridges over the last 3 years. Thought I just had bought shitty fridges and never thought about it could be the breakers..mind blown and sad I wasted so much time and money replacing a perfectly good fridge! 3 times!
