It's nice to see we're come back around to these style of Chinese stories. Especially for those of us raised in the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon/ Iron Monkey era
to be fair, pure "wuxia" don't really have fantasy element....most "wuxia" games is actually mixed with "xianxia" which contains a lots of fantasy elements
@@myko7014All the same, whatever you call it, the genre of magical Chinese warriors is well established in books, media, and games and I would hazard a guess that most western audiences, when they think of Chinese martial arts films, think of magical martial artists.
I'm hoping this gets more popular and we can get official game adaptations of not only wuxia but also murim novels. Particularly love Return of Mount Hua Sect and Chronicles of the Heavenly Demon. I'm excited for this game because you can use spear martial arts like the MC of Chronicles of the Heavenly Demon lol

I don't know if phantom blade zero has any gameplay demo footage, but I was almost sure where winds meet and phantom blade zero where the same game. They feel like they could exist in the same universe on the surface but phantom blade feels a lot more stylized in the footage available.
Crimson Desert is my number one most anticipated game and will be a pre-order and I'm alread 99.99% sure that it will be my favorite game of all-time, and I've plaed thousands of games in m lifetime. Where Winds Meet on the other hand, although the graphics look great and it's and open world game, which is something I look for in games, is still on my wait and see more list, and on my purchase after release, on sale and not purchase at all lists as well. If the game requires a bunch of multiple key combos, or rougue elements, I have zero interest in the game and it's a definite no buy from me. So far, only Crimson Desert and Where Winds Meet are on my list of games for 2024, until I know what other games will be releasing in 2024. Games that are on my list, like the Elder Scrolls 6, Mass Effect 4, Dragon Age 4, Mafia 4 and Beyond Good and Evil 2, are all still baking in the oven, with no determined release date. I hope 2024 will give us some great games, but I have a feeling that it will be a terrible year, at least for me and the type of games that I love the most. Time will tell!
Highkey can’t wait ever since I found out bout this game I been on its trails an it do need a lil bit more of polish an maybe mid of this year we might get that game
You should ask if this game will be a full game or like Genshin instead. I really hope this isn't another forced online F2P/MMO but seems to be heading that direction. And yes, it will come to PS5 at a later date.
It might be great, but the thing is the game could be empty. If it's a linear game like Sekiro, lore can be added to hide the emptiness. But if it's an open world or free to explore game, the emptiness could be the downfall
Apparently, it's also coming on Android and IOS. Apparently, it's also F2P. Yes, I'm disappointed too as the more I learn, the worse it seems. I wanted chinese witcher, but looks like we're getting wuxia genshin. Hope I'm wrong.
@@Augs_Cable Yeah pretty much. When I saw the review trailer, this was my most anticipated game by far. But following the development of the game, disappointment just kept mounting. I really hope I'm wrong, but it's looking more and more to be the case. It's a shame, as I saw the dev team and really wish them the best. But there's an oversaturation of MMOs and Genshin like games already. Also, this game is on Messiah Engine (same as Diablo Immortal), not Unreal 5 unlike what some videos are saying (not that there's anything wrong with that)
It's also apparently coming on mobile. Notice how no one has confirmed if this game is forced online yet, and there are words that this is a F2P game. The biggest concern should be that this game doesnt become like Genshin.
Yup, that's too much of an anime-type of shit (even tho it's China lol). And a reverse grip brooooo this is so bad (I mean the way char holds the sword). I'm cool with unrealistic but good looking stuff but reverse grip just looks bad. Oh well, we'll see.
In all honesty it just looks like a really overcomplicated and dynamic game that somehow will not come to fruition anywhere near as good as we think it will. It always happens with games that have hundreds of different systems and things going on. Everything tends to be average or mediocre at best. This is why more simple games come out to be far better. Far too many places games like this can go wrong and they almost always tend to go wrong.
@@troy5333 You really think so? When the game still looks like it’s in alpha stage with the combat. I don’t think you know how these Chinese and Korean companies work. They will show you a game 10YRS before it’s even started. A Lost Soul Aside is the perfect example 👀👀
Ehh is anything unique anymore? How many similar games have we gotten that have this exact same style/ascetic these last few years (Sekiro, Wo Long, Ghost of T, Rise of the Ronin, and now this)? This may be a new studio (and a small one) but the combat looks stiff, weightless and the animations are very cheap/janky looking for the main character. The characters also have that boring Korean mmo look to them were they look too perfect like male super models (very feminine). I feel these newer studios need to stop going for the AAA market and make some impressive smaller scale games, because they are setting themselves up for failure going up against AAA games that do the exact same thing but better. I will probably stick with Rise of the Ronin for this type of game because even if all else fails imo its guaranteed that Team Ninja will nail the combat in their game and that me combat is king. These good looking but janky playing Korean (or Chinese) Action RPGs seem to come out none stop and none of them impress beyond the initial spectacle. I feel the same way about the "hyped" Wukong monkey man game, that really has not impressed me in terms of gameplay. I could be wrong but this footage is not doing anything for me personally and seems far too ambitious for no reason other then to capitalize on this type of game that got big with sekiro and Ghost.
the mix of martial art and "fantasy", in a chinese setting, is called "Wuxia", there are a ton of manga and novels super interesting setted in it.
I'm just glad that Wuxia is getting recognition here in the West, between this, Phantom Blade Zero, Wo Long, and Black Myth Wukong. I'm psyched haha
