Nice review on an interesting light! How the extension tube lines-up (or doesn't) with the main flashlight body would bug me as well, and I agree that the price seems a bit steep for just the tube. That remote sensor is really neat, I don't recall ever seeing anything like that before and I can see how that would be useful when using the light in the head-strap. I'd probably just get the light and head-strap and call it a day.
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. Yes, especially if the price is on the higher end of the scale. Everything should line up! Head-strap and the sensor, don't want to add too much weight especially if it's being used as headlamp.
Very comprehensive review mate, thank you. Being the impulsive child (trapped in an old man's body) that I am I've ordered a couple of these and you have reassured me that I've made a good choice. Cheers mate.
Thanks! Glad I could reassure you-you’re going to have a lot of fun with them! Hope they live up to your expectations. Appreciate you watching and the kind words. Cheers!

@@eighty.2 Hi Eighty and I to want say thank you for the direct presentation! I have stopped watching so many different channels on RUclips because of all the extra fluff and stories and BS they have to talk about, definitely not necessary. You have another like and a new sub.

Great review. I wish more reviews would do tests that risk breaking the tool since dropping, low temps, etc. is all part of the everyday carry. Thanks for making this clip.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the review. I agree-real-world testing is key, especially for everyday carry gear where durability matters. I like to push each flashlight a bit to see how it holds up, and it's great to hear that these tests make the reviews more useful. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the review helpful. I try to keep things straightforward and cover as much as possible-really appreciate the kudos!
Fantastic review. The tube misalignment is a major turn off. Also, there is a 5000k version for those who do not want to attract bugs as much as the 6500k version would. Also, would like to know how comfortable the headband is for 1/2 hour or more. Any hotspots? Subbed because I like your no nonsense style.
Thanks so much! I completely agree-tube misalignment can be a letdown, but I actually got an early release, and Wuben has since updated the E7 to match the flashlight body better. Great point on the 5000K version as well! The headband has been really comfortable in my experience, with no hotspots even after extended use. Appreciate you subscribing-glad to have you here!
Looks a great light actually, I usually buy Olight but decided to get one of these too as love the design, feels like a red LED mode would also be useful as it’s similarly priced to the Oclip which is also a right angled clip light.
Glad you like the design! I’m a fan of the E7 too, especially for the price. Olight makes solid lights, but some of their products seem a bit overpriced for the output. The E7's 1800 lumens really stand out compared to the Oclip's 300, and at a lower cost. A red LED would definitely be a useful addition. If they could tweak it by swapping one of the LEDs for a red mode with a 1000-lumen max on the white, it’d be an even more perfect EDC light!
@@eighty.2 yeah the extra lumes are welcome! - i liked that Olight put the red LEDs in between the spaces of the white LEDs, like around the edges on the corners of the circles, seems this model could do something similar.
I am pretty sure if you take a tiny dab of synthetic grease, I used Permatex High Performance Synthetic Grease, and apply it to all the threads of the light unit, the extension tube and the end cap, they will all index properly with each other. Mine was like yours at first, then after I applied the grease, I could easily index them to match all flats on all three components.
Thanks for the tip! I tried using synthetic grease, but unfortunately, it didn't work on the prototype unit I have. I've heard that this issue has been addressed in the final production version, though!
@@eighty.2 well when I first assembled mine, nothing indexed and once I applied some grease, it allowed each piece to rotate just further enough to all line up.
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the review helpful. It could be a deal breaker for some. So far, the E7 has been a great flashlight for the price/output.
@@RobinhoodDelta It's about how the threads were machined. I think adding the extra "o" might compromise the flashlight's waterproofing. It's not a major issue, but it's noticeable. Perhaps they've updated the extension tube.
For combination of E7 + head strap + battery extension + 18650 battery for $45 (including shipment) do you think this set still worth ? Or theres something more worthy within that price for long use hiking ?
Which country? The E7 is great for its compact and lightweight design, making it versatile as both a flashlight and a headlamp. However, if you’re looking for something dedicated solely for long hiking trips, a proper headlamp might be more comfortable and practical. What’s your priority-versatility or a headlamp specifically for long use?

That's interesting! The magnet can be quite useful in certain situations, but I can see how some might prefer to remove it. Do you find the flashlight more convenient to use without the magnet?
@@eighty.2 I didn’t want the magnet attaching to things accidentally, like my earbuds, or my other pocket items like knife or keys. A heat gun both melted the glue holding it in and destroyed the magnetism.
