“Private Pyle, whatever you do, don’t fall down! That would break my fucking heart!!”
This video makes my hands sweaty. The only thing that is keeping me from going is the height obstacles. Terrified of heights.
Me to. Graduated 2nd Bn. Fox Co. Plt. 2118. Don't let your fear dictate your life.
Ziggs DillyO I'm already talking to a recruiter, I failed the practice asvab so I need to study. How was those obstacles?
+Tony Giovanni Fine. You don't really notice them when your DI is screaming at you. As someone who also has an issue with heights, the biggest issue was the rappel tower. But once you go down it, you get over it. I was in between 2004-2011. Try to get on a MEU.
I'm terrified of heights and that's the only thing that's holding me back,
Tony Giovanni ffccc
Squat thrusts until the sun goes down, ready, begin. The DI leaves for an hour.
I'm not gonna lie: Yes I was one of those recruits that fell into the water during the slide for life, lol! 1994 MCRD San Diego, Platoon 1010, Bravo Company. SDI Sgt. Newton along with DI's Sgt. Rojas, Sgt. Jacobson and Sgt. Salinas
I fell in too, join the club!
Bravo Nation Brother! MCRD Parris Island Platoon 1076. I fell in on the day movement course
I want to join the marines it's my dream I'm just afraid of the stairway to heaven obstacle
SmackedHD guess what,I was too,but I made it up and down, they have safeguards in place to ensure you don't get hurt.
if you fall what happens?
Wow. I went thru that in 1981. 3rd bn. Mike co. Plt 3072. Not alot has changed. Used to be water underneath the slide for life. I was afraid of heights but the slide for life, the stairway to heaven, and A frame helped me overcome it. Thats why they call it the confidence course. I felt like I could do anything afterwards.
Is this MCRD San Diego? I might be going there
@@Firmfoundchristian2325 Yes it is. I can see the city of San Diego in the background. MCRD is right next to the airport. Good luck to you. I was 20 when I went in. Served 8 years. I'm 62 now. Joining is still the best thing I ever did.
@@dartanianprophet2140 thank you sir, I’ll need the luck
They taught me the last 4 letters of the word American... spell I can. You can do anything you put forth the effort. They make you earn the title marine. But you carry it for life. Once a marine always a marine. Semper Fi young man. That's the marine corps motto. It means always faithful. Again I wish you the best.
@@dartanianprophet2140 oorah sir, thank you
I was in Boot Camp in 07/1996 and the things I remember most about the Confidence Course are the Slide For Life and the "A" Frame, which I didn't see here. I miss being part of the USMC!
A frame is still a thing I’ve been on it a few times
Aw man I can't wait.
I leave in december.
If you're headed to Parris Island in December, it does get cold, if you're from the south. If you're from the north it will feel warm. My training started at Parris Island 18 Oct 73 to 28 December 73. So I had a taste of the sand fleas in October and very cold winds in December. Good luck recruit. Make Chesty Puller proud. You will learn who Chesty is. One day soon, you will be entitled to say: Semper Fi.
My Gentle Pitt Bull I'm going in 9 days from now, these words resonated unto me as well
Kason Marcoviche oh cool i'm leave in just 3 more days so like i think with you
Crazy I was on the Depot when this was filmed, having my family day.
Crazy how time flies by. I remember going through all that back in 2001. 3rd Btln. India Co. Plt 3096. Semper Fi.
Paris Island was so desolate and gloomy compared to Sand Diego.
+Arthur H can confirm
+Arthur H Haven't been out to San Diego, but from a distance I'm amazed that the sun seems to exist out there.
+MorphinTime Being on Parris Island as a recruit is kinda surreal on many levels. But, borrowing from the film Sunset Blvd, "it seemed as if every building was stricken with some sort of paralysis. Out of touch with the rest of the world." It felt like the colors had been washed out, the air was in this murky, grey color as if haunted. It was just a depressing, dreary place trapped in time. A stark contrast from MCRD San Diego. When you are on Parris Island you abandon all hope, there's nothing reminiscent of the world outside, the life you had. With the exception of a brief glimpse of a tourist here and there, you feel completely removed from reality.
Arthur H stfu
East coast sucks balls.
At first i thought you fall from that zip line well you tried now see you in the hospital 😂😂
You fall from the log climb and we'll see you at the morgue.
That and rifle range was the most fun of basic training. Parris Island Feb 77, OOH RAH!
This gave me a very hard feeling in more ways than one. I wanted to join when I was a teenager and P.T.S.D which recently turned chronic ended that. Very hard to live with. I know I couldn't have done it, but I just wanted to be with the Marines or Army and do something for my country. Support our servicemen DO NOT support the wrong way these wars are waged. Fighting clean against a dirty enemy is never gonna work. I believe strongly if war is fought give our enemies Hell! FUCKING TOTAL HELL! I will never forgive Ossama Bin Laden for what he did to us. I didn't want the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and never will change my mind. Look at all the great people who have died. Not just us, but innocent Afghan and Iraqis who aren't part of the Taliban. Blame a lot of stupid politicians drinking cocktails and saying it's heroic to step on an IED and die that way. Horrible. Get out and show your support for the Armed Forces. They are far better than most of us.
Good on you mate for doing your duty and supporting your country, my dad has P.T.S.D aswell although it's not chronic. Hope you have a great day :)
Cara Frost
Thank you!
omg are you really one of those americans that blames bin laden...christ do somw damn research..
The US made bin laden and al queda
what the fuck- Wulfz lair
I almost made it into the marines. I have a pitch loss in my right ear and they disqualified me. Real bummer, wanted to be in the military since i was very little.
I have ringing in my ears do you know if that would disqualify me
Minecraft Redneck probably should look it up is it like constant ringing where u cant hear at all?
Chaz Martin Everything is going for a good reason bro :) Keep strong
+Chaz Martin Can't join cuz of tattoos on my wrist, gonna burn it off
+Chaz Martin be happy you are not man
I miss this this 1 of the greatest times of my life
I graduated last year...But, I signed up for the Marine Corps this year...Can't wait to be there....Probably this summer, my boot camp date will be set...
I just looked at an Airforce obstacle course video. HOLY shit. Theirs is NOTHING compared to this.
Motivation, make me remember with fondness and glad to have graduated from there..
Missed out on 2/3 of the times my company went to the confidence course, so honestly this is my first time seeing most of this. I don't recall how I missed the first time around, since I never went to sick call, the second time, I was unfortunate enough, along with one other recruit to need to get my boots resoled, so I was stuck wearing my dress boots, so I was left behind on fire watch.
Leaving in January 17th 2017 to MCRD SD. Can't wait, rah!!!
Haha good luck
Fuk 69 semper fudge
Rimajol Melele Do you know a recruit named Palmer, Anthony?
Make it?
They make these obstacle courses look so easy but I quickly learned otherwise. I went through an obstacle course with my Rss the other day and it fucking destroyed me, I didn't even make it through the whole thing. This shit is not easy, I can only imagine what bootcamp will be like.
GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY ALL FAMILIES, but special prayer requst goes out to the MARINES, as a mother of two Marines, I gotta ask.
greetinGs from California home of MCRD SAN DIEGO,
Platoon 1050 Bravo Company PI 1986. Best time of our young lives. Semper Fi!
Semper Fi MCRD 1980 and proud of it
Oh damn. Brings back memories. Drill Instructors were a lot more hands on (your throat) in 04 but yea I forgot all about this, was end of Phase 1.
4:27 I froze. I did everything else in boot camp. I completed every other aspect of this obstacle course. I climbed up and I froze. I couldn't take a step. I knew I would walk off the side. It was like I was being pulled that way. The DI-trainer at the top didn't push the point. He told me to climb back down. I guess he felt it too. You know how you've heard when it's your time it's your time. Maybe that day, in 1984, would have been my last and God just intervened. I expected to get thrashed really bad but nothing happened. That was a phase of boot camp where you were thrashed for everything anyway, though, so I'm sure they got even.
At 3:10..that has to be the sweetest, "in place double time, aye-aye sir, oorah Marine Corps. " I have ever heard.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
WTF
suprised at the recruit doing the excersize backwards at :42 and no Drill Instructor ripping him for it.
Shipping out in June, Paris Island ! Can't wait
I can't wait to go
Went through boot camp July to September 1969. The obstacle course was being rebuilt so we ran and ran and ran some more. Drill on the parade deck for hours.
Our confidence course are similar to the Marines when I went to basics back in 2003 at Fort Benning.
I want to join the marines I will take on any challenge they will give me.
Everything? Even killing your family and friends?(something that doesn´t happen)
Well, this was just a joke, if you still haven´t joined, I wish you luck =)
February 2nd I ship, can't wait!
Me too feb2
I know you guy are at bootcamp right now haha but good luck!:)
+Justin Cavanaugh Sooo. How'd it go?

Every branch makes fun of others, but every branch has it's own special niches.
Well this is where I might be after high school.

Them press ups are actually shocking

I sure do miss the the fun times / camaraderie!
I see my platoon out there! Alpha Company plt 1003
Shipping out in September, Paris Island. Lord willing. Oorah! good PT
I can swim but i hate heights. My hands get tingley and sweaty. I would freeze up.
This looks fun! :D
Thank you.
Heroes don't wear capes, they wear dog tags
Looking at this made me feel my muscle fatigue again..
Actually the Navy is the one that mainly helps out the Marines. The Air Force mainly helps the Army.
RESPECT. LOVE. RESPECT S. DIEGO BUT EVEN MORE PARRIS.
Thanks!
Check out our marine obstacle course video!
Nice video :D From UK
to instill the sense of urgency. the instructors yell at the trainees to strike fear. soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen CANNOT afford to make a small mistake in the battlefield, therefore must be taught attention to detail and military bearing (maintaining professionalism).
for the yelling WHILE they're doing the activities (drills and obstacle courses and such), the battlefield is going to be noisy, therefore its simulation to train to block out any distractions to finish the mission.
Scared shitless for this
I cant wait for my time
I had to do this with a fever and an upper respiratory infection the first time because I was too scared to tell my DIs I was sick as right before I told them someone else said they needed to go to sickbay because they were coughing up blood. The drill instructors screamed at him that he was a bitch and coughs up just a little bit of blood and he wants to go to sickbay. Then they thought I was being dramatic when I was stumbling when running in place so I had to run around the obstacles instead while waiting my turn. Still made it through everything though except I fell on the slide of life. So I got ITd when I got back for falling off that. Probably lost some braincells that day honestly. The next day I went to sickbay and had a 104 fever. Still don't regret it though. It kinda gives me extra pride that I made it through it with more adversity than is even expected
This is a butt kicking confidence course!!!
i think getting shot at and being in a war zone might be a little scarier
make or break !!!!! love my marines !!!!!!!!! thank you !!!!!!!!!
Im the future marine
I'm a future lottery winner.
Are they not secured by zip lines? They could die if they slipped and fell.
Best of luck poolee!
4:00 dammmmn Obama went through training?
I thought I was the only one who thought that. :D
Have in the summer sun, Paris Island in july is where it's at...My dad has told me about it...in 2 years I'll be there.
I love that I watched this and saw my old kill hat still fucking up recruits
i ship out june 23rd for PI i cant wait.
I remember doing the confidence course in bootcamp...
Just some of it there anyways.
Good times.
No nets on the slide for life in 86...was surprised to see that
eh it wasnt as bad as some might think, it was strenuous in a way, but the only part that made it difficult was the barrage of drill instructors, aside from that, the course was enjoyable and challenging in the right mind set, as i always tried to compete against whoever was next to me to be the first to finish.
strong trainning
Feet First Into Hell
I leave March 18 for San Diego!!!!
My name is Thomas Molloy, from Newyork. If your going to paris island hopefully i see you there!

I honestly don’t remember going thru the confidence course. We went thru the o course and e course but I don’t recall this. It’s honestly all a blur.
They need bigger courses like this in the Fleet....
@Tommy The avenger You are not required to do Push-ups. Go search up USMCPFT and it's 50crunches in 2 minutes, 3+ Pull-ups(Not timed) 28:00min. In 3 miles.
Because your already doing much harder pull ups xD
Welcome..
4 more years till I am able to go to boot camp I can't wait
i'm sure you went kid.
Semper Fi...
WOW! Way different than when I went through this course. we had constant havoc in our ears and there was no net to fall in, just 3 ft of water. Boot Camp seems different all around. These recruits seem to be doing there own thing. We had in instructor at ever step shouting, pushing us mentally. Confidence course should be a part to still weed out the weak. What the hell is going on in my Corps?? AND to you Royal Marine, screw off! We US Marines are still the most feared for a reason, Period.
being English, and hoping to be a Para. I respect the us marines BUT this seems like an ineffective method to aspire to. you need to be clever and self disciplined to serve, and having someone shout at you every step of the way to motivate you is mollycoddling in my opinion. you need to be able to think critically and use your wits, not rely on someone to tell you what you need to do every step of the way. americans dont seem to understand that shouting and being loud doesnt make discipline. you need to be independent and follow orders. proffesional. im not taking a dig at you lot tho.
+Kane O'Brien i always heard that the yelling was mostly to help train them to think in a loud, stressful, and chaotic environment as well as separate those who don't want to be there. some other reasons i can think of, is to push people beyond what they think they can do and to further discipline. And you could come to the conclusion that a person needs their own motivation to succeed. I don't know what basic training is like for the UK, nor am I saying its wrong.
This is the confidence course - just fun only done once. There is of course the obstacle course which was also about fun but run twice because there is more fitness elements to it. Then there is the assault course which done at speed in gear for time would lead to muscle failure. We would run this about three times during different hours for light training deprivation training. The confidence course was just more of a reprieve to mix it up - at least it seemed that way for me. It was lighthearted not much yelling mainly amusement from the instructors watching us like little kids. As for the net, that was for the instructors and was removed before we were allowed to dig in. Nice deep pool of freezing water waited the clumsy.
Kane O'Brien
The United States 🇺🇸 Marine Corps has been successfully marking Warriors/not diplomats since 1775, they Corps is older than the country itself, they teach Marines mental & physical toughness & fortitude. Bootcamp is a molding & forming process, much more to the psychological aspects of the yelling, the aggressiveness & the overall demeanor of the Drill Instructor & the format of the Instruction than meets the eye.
Far more complicated & complex than a casual observer can comprehend.
The development of this winners strategy isn’t orchestrated by idiots, like an iron worker might forge a sword to be taken into battle, there will be steps in the iron selection, in the firing process , as he’s violently pounding on the steel against his anvil, that if observers just see this segment of the process , they may foolishly suggest that they could make a knife just as good with the lesser grade of steel & without all the blood, sweat & tears.
And to the question that Marines can’t perhaps think creatively or independently.
One of the Marines most used mantra’s is Improvise-, Adapt & Overcome.
Marines will always do more with less.

OooRah Devil Dogs
When did the Slide for Life switch out the water for a net?
In 2020 I think back to my Marine corps days and hate civilian life
87 plt 2078 hotel co. I don't miss any part of boot camp.
Lol wonder in marine drill instructor school they rip their voice boxes out and put some robot voice in for them lol. I try do it and hurts my throat lol
I'd be terrified 😨
if you want to join the Military join the branch that is right for you... I do believe the Marine Corps is the best branch, but it does have its downfalls. DO NOT let people make you think your less of a human being or less desciplined because you aren't a Marine. I have met many very squared away Soldiers and Airmen who are more squared away then some Marines I know. Join the branch you truly want, and never compromise on the job field you want! and yes, I am a Marine
I really want to do this when I grow up. But right now I can't even do more than 10 push-ups. Is it necessary to be fit and strong before you join, or do they train you to become fit?
10 years later... did you follow your dreams?
Hollywood! 70-74....
Adam
This top is absolutely gorgeous in
do you have to be american to join the us marines as i am irish but america is where i hope to live when im older. ??

Ahh the memories the good old days of Plt 3031 class of 95 and being chased by a DI up a rope.
What kind of push ups?
Love my Marine Corps 🇺🇸
