    Hi Joolz, Freddie proposed but never married Mary but he said despite all of his other relationships he regarded her like a wife. She had a home next door to his. Mary is the only person he entrusted his ashes to its final resting spot. He lived at his home with his partner Jim Hutton.

      100% true Mary was the only friend he truly trusted, Freddie Mercury once said " The only friend I've got is Mary and don't want anyone else. To me, she was my common law wife" he was asked why Mary could not be replaced as a trusted friend his answer was "simply impossible". Freddie was godfather to Mary's children.

      sam Thorne Freddie often said those sorts of things to protect himself from homophobia. Mary was his beard, but Jim Hutton was his husband. Freddie had loads and loads of wonderful friends like Joe Finelli, Elton John, Phoebe Freestone, Peter Straker, and of course the rest of the band. He lived with his husband Jim Hutton and said “I’m very happy with my relationship at the moment and I couldn’t ask for better. I’ve finally found a niche that I was looking for all my life and no fucker in this universe is gonna upset it.”

One of the hidden gems of Kensington is the St. Sarkis Armenian Church on Iverna Gardens, which I wish you covered. It's one of the streets just off Kensington High St, and it's magnificent. It was constructed by Calouste Gulbenkian, who was the richest person in the world in the 1940s-50s.

      Just the reflection of someone's face, I think. Maybe an even more outrageous Teutonic codpiece?

      @@Joolzguides Blimey. There's me thinking it was a bit of Victorian contraband of antique porn or something, and turns out it's just Joolzy trying to cover his boat race for sake of continuity!
      If we're allowed to discuss 'behind the scenes', do you film your videos in a single day on average, or is it common to 'patch them up' here-and-there over a a few different days?

      @@prepperjonpnw6482 What an ignorant and idiotic remark. She probably owns the shop. Not everyone is Kensington is filthy rich. There are middle class, working class and very poor people living in Kensington and yes, up the street from the palace.

    Really enjoyed this Joolz. Oh how I miss Kensington Market and yes it always smelt of Patchouli. Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor had a stall in there from 69 for a few years. Best 2 pubs in Kensington in my opinion is The Churchill arms and Windsor castle. Kensington roof gardens was a cool place but I'm not sure if it's still in operation. Nice work!

    My parents were married at that registry office too - and my mother is Italian too. It was just an ordinary front door back then so nothing much has changed although it ceased to be a registry office yonks ago.

    I attended the same college as Freddie Mercury. He is probably the most famous British Asian to have ever lived (so far). His early life mirrors those of many other British Asians. As a British Asian myself, I think it's a shame that he's still not recognised as such, nor did he during his career, particularly considering the racial tension back then.

    • @MiataBRG
      @MiataBRG Год назад +1

      He was born and grew up in Africa, spent school time in India then came to London. Did he identify as Asian?

    • @RR-kp5ps
      @RR-kp5ps Год назад +1

      @@MiataBRG He is Indian (Gujarati Parsi ethnic), thus he is Asian regardless of what he identified as. And I said, his early life mirrors most South Asians at the time (including my family), such as being expelled from the former British colonies of Africa because he's Indian, growing up in Hounslow, and his father working in Heathrow Airport. His mother accepted The Asian Award on his behalf. He is not white nor is he Persian as many people, including himself claim.
