Can’t resist… In 1964 at 13 years old with my sister 14, returning from France, unaccompanied, we sat on the steps of the arched entrance to Kings Cross station for 6 or seven hours waiting for our French cultural/language exchange student guests to arrive. They had been delayed at the French side of the channel… immigration nonsense, of course. We knew they would eventually pass by there on their way to catch the train north to Berwick on Tweed. We gave up eventually and using the five pound note that was safely squirrelled away, we spent the night in the Great Northern Hotel, travelling home the next day. Our guests, it transpired, came through the archways within a half hour after we gave up! Sweet memories. I’m a Scot and live near Montreal, speaking french, of course. However I spent a couple of years in London and and I’m captivated by your Walks. Thank you.
This is precisely why I am a fan of Joolz! Quirky, sentimental tidbits of odd historical minutiae attached to seemingly everywhere you look! Like that Joolzy memorial to Glindor Michael, or linking the misdaventures of Verlaine and Rimbaud to Simons' rather brilliant impression of Stallone's Rambo, or Julian's more than passable Jimmy Stewart. All the while on a pleasant stroll on a gorgeous Autumn day! This is just great TV-especially good during lockdown, when all we crave is to get out of the house and visit places outside our bubble! You're a brilliant guide Joolz! Lovely stories - so engaging and a treat to watch. My great grandfather was a master builder and constructed a house in Royal College St (19c) It was acquired compulsorily by the Railway to build the line that goes through the area - they were sad to lose it and as it was for public works apparently got a pittance in return). My granddad died at St Pancras Hospital sadly. But the Pearly Kings of Kings Cross have a statue at St Pancras Cemetery (in N. Finchley - which is used for buriels of locals) - so the connection continues. Thanks for sharing your really great insights x
The melancholy invoked by the Bb minor Chopin Nocturne was so fitting watching this in lockdown. I never realised that the Wannabe video was shot in the Great Midland. Great vlog and I can't believe how much the are has changed even since the nineties when I used to play snooker round there.
Another brilliant vid to kick off the day here in the USA. The footage evoked fine memories of a walk I took last summer on lazy afternoon from the amazing London Canal Museum to Little Venice via the canal and a hop up primrose hill. Loved the flashback of sites and sounds.

Great video Joolz. Shame the security guard stopped filming He mentions private property, but if your stood on a public footpath filming just the outside / external part of the building i didn't think you needed permission under section 62 of the copyright, designs and patents act 1988. You do need permission if you intend to make a 3d model of the building and the building is within the terms of its copyright (usually lasts for the life of the architect plus 70 years), or you want to enter the building and photograph / film inside then yes you might need permission. I thought you were on a public footpath while filming the German Gymnasium?

Hi Jools. Just discovered your channel. Great videos with some really interesting facts and information. It was the Midland Railway who built the line into StP and went through the churchyard. As you said the Great Northern was next door at Kings Cross. I was always confused when watching The Ladykillers film as the back of the house overlooked the entrance to Copenhagen tunnel and yet the view from her front door looked up Argyle Street which is a mile or so away! Obviously a bit of artistic licence going on there! Look forward to watching some of your other videos. Miss coming into town because of this lockdown and doing my walks. Your videos are the next best thing with some great snippets of information thrown in. All good stuff. Keep the videos coming. Take care.

Excellent and entertaining as always Joolz. To find where things were filmed, the Reel streets website is truly excellent. It tells me Mrs Lopsided's house was in Frederica street N7.

Wonderful! I would very much enjoy a Christmas lights walk in the evening to showcase the best of London! Thank you for making your videos! I rewatch them most days, I enjoy them that much! Cheers!
Wasn’t the area called _Battle Bridge_ (over the Fleet) before it became King’s Cross - hence the associations with Boudicca? It’s a superb summary Joolz tremendous work: and _oi_ the hangovers I remember from the raucous chaos of The Church. Speaking of which, that is of course St Pancras *Old* Church even though it’s a Victorian rebuild: the New Church is the one opposite the fire station on the corner of Eversholt Street and Euston Road with the huge caryatids. I do miss that old an odd wasteland behind the stations where the arches of St Pancras used to stretch back darkly seemingly for ages before they were demolished for the Eurostar. It sadly comes as no surprise that _The Man Who Never Was_ was a vagrant of Somers Town. This was one of many great countless details I learned. (we all know she’s *really* buried beneath the Tumulus on Hampstead Heath... 😁)
I liked this video on my first viewing, and today I watched it for at least the second time. It's really up there as one your best, Joolz, and very interesting. I've noticed much that passed me by on the first viewing. Behind St Pancras station you showed two old gasometer frames enclosing flats built inside them which I thought was a wonderful idea. Gasometers were all over the place in the country when I was a youngster and I know many of the frames have been, quite rightly preserved. Maybe the building of flats in others around the country would be a good idea too. I noticed other things i missed before too, so I'm glad I chose this to watch again. I have though, watched many of your video's more than once. Keep up the fabulous work.

Another wonderful video. Keep them coming. I live in Essex but come into London 3/4 times a year and explore whilst riding my bike. Travel miles and enjoy this wonderful city so much. Keep it up Jools.
Sorry Joolz
Great video Joolz. Shame the security guard stopped filming He mentions private property, but if your stood on a public footpath filming just the outside / external part of the building i didn't think you needed permission under section 62 of the copyright, designs and patents act 1988. You do need permission if you intend to make a 3d model of the building and the building is within the terms of its copyright (usually lasts for the life of the architect plus 70 years), or you want to enter the building and photograph / film inside then yes you might need permission. I thought you were on a public footpath while filming the German Gymnasium?
Thanks for keeping these films going Joolz and crew! They are a bright spot during these dark times. :)
Enjoying all of your videos from Dallas Texas. Another great one!
A Chopin's nocturne as a background to video makes it even better 🙂 Thanks a lot!👍
Thank you Joolz (and your sister too) for these fabulous visits of a town I love. During this pandemic, it feels really good to see you guys ! From Canada.
Well I really enjoyed that, no boring bits. Love it
We both love watching your videos and the walks around London, I Know Mary and I would love to go to England one day. My parents were from there, your are so informative and we thank you. Plus you are so funny. Thanks for all the fun
Just what you need on a Sunday afternoon. Great work Joolz.
Absolutely top hole as usual, don’t let security push you around! Guess what, I’m doing exactly that but in the heat of a Queensland heat...
Do you ever get around Barnes as my Daughter lives there. I was blown away with the history of the Olympic studio.
Keep up the great work old man.
Take care.
A real Sunday treat as always! Now here I go back into another 2 hours of Joolz'y video Rabbit Hole, starting as I always do in Primrose Hill.
Your videos are totally brilliant Joolz.
The most entertaining, informative & funny walking tours I’ve ever known & I’ve been guiding for over 20 years & btw had enough run ins with security jobs worth’s!
Makes me miss London sooo much, thank you x
Another great video Jules & co. Really do enjoy touring London with you and hearing about the history and stories about the place. Please don't stop! 😁
London looks beautiful in the autumn sunshine! I think this is your best London video yet!
Thanks, Joolz. You've cheered me up no end, during this horrid lockdown. Keep them coming. Keep safe. Stephen.
That Stallone impression was brilliant! :D
Always fun to watch , and always makes me long to return to London town , thanks mate , Cheers!!!
Excellent and entertaining as always Joolz. To find where things were filmed, the Reel streets website is truly excellent. It tells me Mrs Lopsided's house was in Frederica street N7.
So glad your back!! Have made my way through the bulk of your videos during lockdown in Australia. Good to see a new one.
0:14 I used to work in Hampstead back when the sign "Camden Road"used to be "I wish I worked in Hampstead."
Another brilliant video, I hope to someday join you on one of your tours! I tell all my friends and family about you and we love to watch your videos.
Keep up the brilliant work my friend.
If I ever get to London I am going on a Joolz tour! Just not sure which ones there are so many goodun’s!!👍😁
Really enjoyed that. My favourite part of London and now I know lots more about it. Thank you!
Wonderful!
I would very much enjoy a Christmas lights walk in the evening to showcase the best of London!
Thank you for making your videos!
I rewatch them most days, I enjoy them that much!
Cheers!
8:15 those tombstones are from the cemetery by Euston station
Nice to see you on my wedding day Joolz. Glad you popped in. :)
I'd love to 1 day buy Jools , Lou and Simon a nice pint. Love you guys, from a convict covid ridden down under. Cheers!
A great video. We stayed close to King's Cross. My husband and I got lost. We could have used you then. Some day we'll be back to London.
Easily one of the best RUclips channels...
I live in Spain nowadays but miss London sooo much!
Yes, Battle Bridge. You are right. I sometimes cherry pick which info I think will resonate the most. That one got left behind I'm afraid!
You always brighten my day Joolzy. Spice Girls in the hotel- priceless😁
Love your walking tours of London! Thanks so much for sharing! 😊
Joolz - you're a trip, love your vids. Next time in London I definitely want to go on some of your walks.
Love that Jimmy Stewart info, thank you!!!
