G'day you pair :) . Marvelous video, thank you. :) Hey Leigh, i reckon thats the first time we have seen the 'short shift' in the Deefa. Such a difference mate. Watching Steph drag the board up and down the beach, add a touch of weight and it would make a great resistance workout for the core!...and the shovel work lol ;). All that grouse tucker, friendly people, good friends motor bikes, Land Rover and AwEsOmE scenery.. no wonder you travel :). Thank you so much for sharing. Love to you both from Brett and Marie. Ps, and that game of chess...Stephie, better luck next time ;) .
Brett, Marie, it's always such a pleasure to read your comments. Thank you. Impressed that you picked up the detail of the short shift. That was one of the first changes. Huge difference. For dragging the board on the beach I got the idea from a book I was reading. (Polar dream by jade H ) a young Aussie girl that did the 3 polar expeditions. Training consisted of dragging a tyre on Aussie beach with an harness. ( similar sensation than the sledge she was pulling on the ice)
A good consistent speed in soft sand. 2nd or 3rd low range and give it to her and you will find not doing sharp turns so you aren't plowing the sand. You want to be on top. Easier said when watching you guys but coming from WA thought you would have had beach driving expeirience but you got to try! Love your adventure. Rockin' a Landy!!!
Cheers. idea was to camp on the beach. But the sand was very soft too much inclined. We had to go back on the harder and more level area. But lots of trees blocking the way. Leigh lived for years just behind some big sand dunes. Hours and hours going crazy with the old land cruiser. Can't be fun like that with our "home" now ... 😁😁

Are You planning to visit Russia? There are a few beautiful places in Altai that you can visit in Khazahstan and Russia, if You will visit Ural mountains i will be glad you to show a the main Ural ridge, the most pollution area in Russia - Karabash, huge careers, buddhist monastery hiding in mountains, border between Europe and Asia in a middle of wild nature :)
I love watching your videos, they are brilliantly done! Do you have any more information on the waffle boards? I can't find any of that variety online.
hi guys. i have been following your channel closely and i am very impressed with what you all have achieved so far. However, I've 3 questions to both of you: 1) what is the weight of your rig at current set up? 2) how fast can the Land Rover travels on the highways safely? 3) what is the average speed you travel on and off road? Thank you advance
Hello thanks for the nice comment. Our weight is roughly 3500kg. We can do up to 120km/hr on good highway but we always travel around 80km/hr to conserve diesel.
When you travel in normal surfaces what pressure do you pump your tires and what do you let the tires down to when deflating soft sand. I have a similar rig on a 130
