Wonderful fluid playing, and the Joyo sounds excellent! Really useful. 😎 It would have been fun if you'd pretended this was an expensive "boutique" pedal and then revealed its true identity at the end. 😉
I love my BAATSIN. It's definitely the Swiss Army knife of gain on my gigging pedalboard. I should say that it goes really well in front of a Joyo American or AC Tone.
Out of all the pedals that I’ve switched through trying to find a great overdrive tone, I keep going back to my Joyo American set on a tweed setting. I play through a Mesa Fillmore, and a Fender Princeton 112+ that has been modded, in stereo. It’s not like they don’t sound great by themselves, but… I still end up using my Wampler Belle and Plexi drive for nuanced distortion, but the American is always in there. It’s held up great for a few years now, no complaints. Great demo. I can’t see how you could go wrong putting this pedal on your board. Especially for the money.

Having never played one of them it’s difficult to comment, however, I will say though is that it’s an incredibly versatile and so far proved to be trouble free! Definitely worth checking out!
I’m glad you reviewed this pedal , I was just thinking of picking one up, I have a few older joyo pedals and haven’t had any issues with reliability. so I was curious about their newer stuff, thanks ! 👍🏻
Especially (not exclusively) for a beginner who might not know what really suits him/her, this is a no-brainer. You will loose more money when buying a single boutique pedal and reselling it on Reverb. Except for the Riot mode (if this is indeed what it is supposed to mimic), I found everything pretty convincing.
Wow I am seeing this for as little as 25 bucks? I'm sold, I have exactly one spot on my board for a physical drive and this would be a jack of all trades
When you compare the sounds from a pedal like this and the counterparts in modelers like the HX Stomp, is there a noticeable quality difference? I mean the OD pedals sound alone. Many Thanks!
Typically no there's not enough of a difference in the vast majority of hxstomp models Vs pedals. There will be more of a difference as the components themselves are used or not used, take any two of the same pedals there will be very small differences as you move pots, so long as the model was on a decent pedal to begin with they will be indistinguishable. You also eliminate cabling between em so another plus for a modeller, what you gain is the ability to create and save presets and move knobs together in varying directions and set limits. A real pedal does have some benefits, they're freaking gorgeous 😍, handling them feels better, there's the Lego like joy of putting em together and moving them around but for the most part I think most are chasing shadows of doubt 🧐. Personally I prefer the hybrid world at home but would not think twice about transferring pedals to modelling for live uses.
This is a great question. My personal preference is for the “real” pedals, be it entirely psychological or a genuine thing. @@DanEtch Yeah it all sounds about the same really. With real pedals it's super easy to adjust on the fly. EQ pedal in front of or after a flat uncompressed (should react well to the vol knob) OD makes any sound you need. OD is just a vol boost into clipping and an EQ choice made by the designer. You really don’t need much - cut the gear acquisition addiction. Get good amps and a playable guitar. Amps are where the money should be spent imo.

Hmmm 🤔
Yeah Not that great in my view.Lots of options but average sounding. At that price range I don't think you can go far wrong with EHX pedals. EG the Crayon or East River. Of course not forgetting Boss Overdrives too.
Omg! They cloned timmeh!
I think the Boss OD-200 is better. Hybrid design with analog and digital circuitry. Twelve primary drive modes plus 15 boost types.
• Overdrive-Natural tube-style overdrive with asymmetrical clipping.
• Blues-Highly expressive overdrive sound with wide tonal range.
• Scream-Smooth overdrive sound with mid-focused tone.
• Cntr OD-Mild drive sound modeled on the Klon Centaur.
• X-Drive-Next-generation overdrive that uses BOSS’s Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) for enhanced string separation, increased clarity, and expressive dynamic response.
• Dist-Cutting distortion that’s ideal for a wide variety of styles.
• X-Dist-Distinctive distortion that uses MDP tech for a superior playing experience that’s unattainable with analog distortion pedals.
• Stack Drive-Iconic British stack sound, with range from sparkly clean to a thick vintage roar.
• Fat Dist-Thick, tight distortion sound that’s ideal for riffs and solos.
• Brown-Lead sound inspired by the original British stack amp, with higher gain and razor-sharp definition.
• X-Metal-Wide-ranging modern sound powered by MDP, with superior clarity and string definition even at the highest gain settings.
• Fuzz-Bold fuzz sound with big, round tone and rich sustain.

Sounds great but more like £ 90 !! 🤣

@@LockStoppageSandwichJust looked , unavailable till next year £85 .
Even with your tremendous chops I ain't hearing anything useable here to my ears. Appreciate the review.
I like the Joyo "BRUSH". You know, it has 6 knobs, and is light purple!! (🥲)
I've three pedals from this series, I think they all @#$% rock for the $. I've got Walrus, Boss & Fishman too, but why pay when I don't gotta? HF.
Hey man, where can I get some guitar lessons from you? Your style is incredible and I’d love to absorb some of it. I’ve tried the link you mention, but I can’t find your lessons 😢
TrueFire is what you want- he even plugs them often. No ones playing will magically rub off on you. If you stand next to a model all day, you will never be good looking. You have to practice the basics- a lot and develop your own style. Sure, others can influence your playing but it's all you brother. Life is too short to copy others. Be your own boss.
@@MOAB-UTAgreed. With 37 years of playing under my belt, that’s the advice I would give to a younger me if I could go back in time. My own sound and style emerged when I stopped trying to copy my heroes (David Gilmour, Lindsey Buckingham, and Prince to name a few), and instead focused on replicating through my own playing the feeling and emotion they inspired in me.
