I am assuming that this movement is the same as the Jetstar models. If so, it uses one CR2016 battery and the battery life is estimated at 2 years. You can easily buy one of those batteries from a reputable brand for 3 bucks. Super easy to do the change at home and it takes less than 5 minutes. Even if you are not confortable doing it yourself, doing it on a watch store should be cheap (I guess it depends on where you live) and it definitely is way cheaper than servicing an automatic movement.

In addition to the other responses, I'd note that one need not keep a watch with the Precisionist movement running continuously, especially if it's part of a collection and isn't worn every day. I have about 25 watches that I wear regularly so I seldom wear any single watch more than once every week or two. To preserve the Precisionist battery I simply pull the crown when I put it away and reset the time when I wear it again. In effect it's the same ritual I follow ehn I reset my mechanical watches that cease running after a few days off my wrist. I expect the batteries in my Jet Stars to last for years as a result of that practice.

About time that Bulova has turned to offering their Precisionist movement in watches that don't look like they've emerged from an Invicta designer's fever dream. I've long been intrigued by watches with the Precisionist movement but for years I simply couldn't stomach the watches in which it was embedded. That changed last year when I purchased a Jet Star limited edition and received another version as a gift. I have only a few quartz watches, each of which has some distinctive attribute. The sweeping second hand and remarkable accuracy of the Jet Star models qualify them by that standard. I don't need another dive watch I wouldn't be taking in the water anyway but I'll be interested to see if Bulova offers additional Precisionist models. If so, I might well consider them.

Big fan of the Precisionist movement. I've bought a few over the years including a Jetstar in the Merlot last year. Not a super big fan of the case shape on this one. I'd have preferred if they'd stuck to the more standard shape of the Marine Star. That being said, I'm pretty happy with Bulova's continued mining of their back catalogue. I think it's a winning formulae for them. I'm also glad they're moving away from some of their more brutalist designs for the Precisionist movment and actually putting out, "Dive Watches," with working and not fake bezels.

I love the 262kHz movement in my Bulova “Military” watch (Model 96B229). It is 42mm and has the traditional field watch look. You don’t see many of them because Bulova only made them for a short time. This Bulova movement has always been on my list of top movements combining quarts & mechanical. Aside from the Lunar Pilot its always just been the watch itself that threw me off. Seeing this though gives me alot of excitement for where the brand is going.. This is a great looking watch! I would be curious to see if Bulova would dig into their history and do a reissue of some of the pieces that are still pretty sought after... That being said those are mainly homages of vintage APs and Datejusts but im sure they could make a few sensible design tweaks to make it their own.

Love it, my favorite watches are Citizen Group watches and I'm a quartz guy so definitely getting a Bulova this year. My favorite quartz being the practical Miyota 2115 for its reliability, affordability, quiet operation, no jewel, made in Japan, and with accuracy that's comparable to my Ronda 763, and ETA FO6.115 with 3-5 jewels. Casio also likes to use the 2035 and 2115 movements in the MRW-200h and Duro/TIffany Blue and those are some of my most favorite practical timepieces. Definitely want a Grand Seiko 9F, and precisionist movement at some point as well. Have a Chameri Quartz with the Seiko VH31 on way. My only Automatic watch in my collection is a Steeldive 1953 with a really accurate NH35.

Accuracy is a big deal for me so I would buy the Springdrive from Seiko or the Chronograph from Citizen, both are accurate to just seconds per year. The 262khz quartz movement by Bulova is so unique and of fantastic value that I would like to see Citizen also use them in some of their offerings. Now that would be a game changing move for the better and would elevate Citizen even higher into the stratosphere.

Very good looking watch. When they come out with this watch in a chronograph I am ready to buy. I love diver chrono's. Is it true that this movement is 10 seconds a year? that is insane. I want one.

I think this would be a better movement to put into the Devil Diver instead of a cheap automatic.

I like the precisionist. Can it not work in a 38 or 39mm case?
