@@a.g.demada5263 As an example, when Mia slips on the bleachers in the first film they just kept the scene going. Another example from the second film was when she was running to sit down and her seat slid halfway accross the room.

👑 One of the things I find funny is in the books her dad isn't dead-- he got prostate cancer and realized he wasn't going to have any heirs with a Genovian noblewoman so they went back to reclaim Mia, who'd been conceived during a fling in his youth. 😂 But apparently Hollywood was like, nah, better he be dead.
Mia lives in an old firehouse, hence the sliding pole. The movie is from 2001, the second is from 2004. Mandy Moore (Lana) is a singer in real life, dude. Paparazzi exited then... Willie Brown was the real mayor of San-Francisco, at that time, it was a cameo. The actor who sang the anthem also wrote it (the prime minister).
The Princess Diaries was released in 2001 . The movie is based on a book series and the sequel to this movie was released in 2004 .

The girl who played Lana (Mandy Moore) was in the movie “A Walk To Remember.” Julie Andrews (the Queen) most recently voiced Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton. She was Mary Poppins, Maria in The Sound Of Music. Anne Hathaway (Mia) “Ella Enchanted,” “Devil Wears Prada,” “Les Miserables.”
Any movie Julie Andrews (the queen) is in is pretty much perfect. You should react to Mary Poppins and The Sound Of Music in which she stars!👑

Honestly I really loved your reaction to the makeover, both because Paulo clearly is an amateur if he's trying to brush thick hair from the top, and also the final result. She definitely doesn't look BAD, obviously she's beautiful however she's made up, but the early 2000s made a lot of us thick-and-curly-haired girls feel like we had to flat-iron the crap out of our hair to be beautiful (which led to all kinds of hair damage too). If Paulo had instead taught Mia how to take care of curly hair, so that her frizz became a big glorious head of defined, shiny curls, that would have been much more revolutionary
I JUST made a comment about this. They didn't have to cut it either and if she was more comftorble wearing glasses then they could've went to her eye doctor and had her choose a frame that she liked and that fit her face shape that wasn't to crazy color wise. Maybe the trope of nerdy/ugly glasses wouldn't still be a thing now. She could've also picked out her makeup, shoes, and nail polish. Basically, they just needed to teach her to work with what she already has. Even her uniform could've been worked with a little bit to be a little bit better
this movie and the books DEFINED my childhood. Even though they stray a lot from the book series, they are still so good!! Fun fact : They reference the movies in the books after the release and even point out some of the inaccuracies in it! In fact book Lilly attends a meeting with the directorial board of this movie in the books !!

What I love in this movie is the fact Joe and the gym teacher are the only ones who really support Mia. They don’t ask her to be the best but just trying.
If you want another good movies you should watch the sequel " Princess diaries 2 " of course and " The chorists " who's a movie of my country (the France) and a real masterpiece
Definitely would suggest you watch the sequel, I'd say it's even better than the first one.

I really like this movie specifically because of the reaction to that situation, which I consider realistic. Usually, teens would freak out with a prospect of being responsible for a whole a$$ country LOL Also, I love how Lilly liked Mia's new status not because "she's a cool kid now", but because with such influence Mia can actually change lives. Not everyone who wants that can get such an opportunity. This movie is indeed very heart-warming and wholesome 🥺
P.S.: Joe is the MVP!

Fun fact this actually happened to a girl 5 years after this movie came out. Jazmin Grace Grimaldi an American girl found out she was the prince of Monacos daughter when she was 14 years old. She is also the granddaughter of Grace kelly.
Though now that I think about it. Its more of a cross between princess diaries and what a girl wants.
I love the fact that they hired Annthaway and her grandmother to play grandma and granddaughter it makes the chemistry more real

I emailed with the author whose book this is based on. She said she patterned the grandmother after Captain Picard. I agree. Also, the book had interesting side notes about school things she wrote in her diary.

Iconic movie
Love this movie. My grandma took me to see it in theaters. Funny enough, she's always reminded me of Julie Andrews in some way. My favorite characters are Fat Louie and Joe of course. 💕
I never liked Lily if I'm being honest. Both int he book series and in this movie at least she seemed like a lousy friend and even though I know is interested in social causes still somehow seemed to make it about her self. She just always seemed really selfish.
In the first book in the series she started a protest against a local Chinese takeaway place because they charged her 5 cents (that's not a typo, it's five cents) more than an asian student and then she went on her talk show and started accusing them of being racist against non-asians and said that that's what leads to stuff like the Holocaust. Michael told her that to him the whole thing seemed like "vanity run amok".
Later in the book series she actually started a 'ihatemiathempolois' website because she found out that the guy she had a crush on had a crush on Mia and when one of their other friends told her that it wasn't fair she laughed and said 'don't be such a Mia".
That and her constant criticising of Mia throughout the movie and making it seem like she was the victim or had been abandoned by Mia just made it hard for me to like her.

Mandy Moore was a singer before she became an actress so they had to have her sing in the movie. I laughed when you said they couldn't afford a band because technically she is a famous singer.

I really lived through Mia in these movies. Not for the princess aspect, although that's 100% a plus, but for the family and people around her. I don't have a good relationship (if any) with my mother and all of my grandparents are either dead or don't want to see me. So, for Mia to realise the grandmother who doesn't talk to her is actually this queen and they become friends, it was such a fantasy of mine. Definitely a comfort movie.
Only problem with this movie is that it gave a lot of curly haired young girls the idea that they weren't beautiful enough, because the 'beautiful princess' wasn't beautiful enough with curly hair. Also, girls with glasses.

There's this trilogy I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you watch, and that would be the animated movies made by Cartoon Saloon. They're so unbelievably gorgeous - some of the best 2D animation I've seen in a while. The series is called the "Irish Folklore Trilogy" and released its final installment last year. Please consider giving them a watch! You won't regret it!

Fun fact in the books Mia's dad had testicular cancer, he survived but was unable to have more children so he decided to legitimise Mia (who was a bastard born out of wedlock) in order to make her his heir but Disney didn't want the movie to include such adult topics as cancer and infertility (or god forbid the mention of testicles) so they killed him instead.
So this apparently happened in real life. A woman in America found out she’s a princess. They are going to make a movie about it
