I like to PvP, and PvE. Usually wearing an Exo Suit nowadays. Unlocking it is easy with no cheats needed anymore, and usually on a server, official or unofficial, I'm not fussed. Single Player is great though, certainly with a guide for any platform be it xbox, ps4, ps5, pc, it's great. Sometimes play MTS, and usually post patch/update. But a survival game needs some community news and that's what I do, giving you the latest on events, small tribes, maybe even fast flyers and primitive plus, usually covering all maps from Island to Genesis Part 2. And one day. ARK 2!

Slopes are death. It’s the same way on Forglar and Svartalfheim. I hope people understand that it’s not the map makers fault either. This is 100% wildcard adding the antimesh to the level design. I bought the map to support Kaluga, but until Wildcard fixes the antimesh I can’t devote anymore time on official modded maps to it.
Yeah this happens on Scorched Earth a lot near wyvern trench as well. Just kills you on the slopes.

Ark need to seriously tell you if a bed your placing won't work and fix their anti mesh, the fact it deletes your kit too is wild
Im not buying it myself, but i hope they fix the mesh issue with randomly killing you and deleting everything you have 😂. Tons of resources and a huge ass map great for mods with larger op creatures but cmon that mesh is a deal breaker(terrible)
The mesh issue is on a lot of maps even official Scorched Earth.

@@gtraven2377 Well guess you are lucky. I have watched videos of people getting their dino and loot deleted by going over near the wyvern scar. ARK has always had issues with anti-mesh deleting stuff. It was in ASE and continues in ASA.

Most of the modded maps need that worked out. It’s brutal on all three I have played.

Glad to see a highlight on this map. I've been playing it on PS5 for two weeks now and it is undeniably beautiful but still rough at the same time. Yesterday's patch broke more than it fixed, alas it is a work in progress. I'd say stability and creature spawns are some of the bigger issues atm. Overall so far I see it catering more to a PvE/RP audience. It's also missing the loot& progression catering more towards a primitive basic style. If it leans more towards that, it still needs randomised loot chests and 'enemies/guardians ' for areas such as the towns and forts and hopefully mini bosses to give the map more focus, goals and reward exploration. Otherwise, it serves more as a blank canvas to run other game altering mods.

I won't lie, that map looks beautiful and full of mysteries, like a place you would imagine while reading a fantasy book, although it's a shame that it has some big flaws, I had a lot of fun seeing how you sneaked into those players' houses, and how you put the first one to sleep and robbed him, to me that is what real PVP fun means, trolling your neighbors and doing crazy things like this hahaha, I hope the map gets fixed soon, because it was really hilarious and maybe you could do a series of that map and maybe it's not possible, but on that server or a similar one, i laughed a lot hahaha great job Raas, you are great dude

The premade structures are cool but they need interior. "Players fill them out." No village would just be empty and dull :| Makes it for a boring exploration. Make boxes you can break for resources, and bags of other things you can harvest.
Forcing the whole "players make the world alive" is not good in a game as "dead" as ASA. Most people don't play many more people than like 5-10 on a server.

@ 27.00 min mark i fully agree. I tried my best not to quit but dying to nothing got really old. There are certain areas which will cause a freeze crash and u wont be able to log in, until u die at least.

It’s getting a bit unfair constantly seeing either creators or players saying “map sucks because of anti-mesh”.
Map devs don’t have any control over the mesh detection system. It’s a Wildcard system. Random death boxes happen on every official map, and every mod map.
I mean, i still die to anti mesh if i go to the vulcano in the island so... O.o Forglar sand dunes are the same.
I assume he knew you didn’t have to pay to get “destroyed”, but still, you do have somewhat of a point

Appalachia is a cool map, I'm personally in the early stages of making a, hopefully awesome, premium map myself and Idk about this guy's reasons but I honestly don't want to charge too much, 5$ sounds fair, maybe the creator of Appalachia felt the same. That said the more time I spend on it the more I feel like 10$ is fine, map making is a lot of work, just ask veno. but even if I succeed in making an amazing map, I want it as accessible as possible, so again 5$? idk. 😆
As for the map, I'm Calling it Descendance. You spawn on one of the larger floating islands and will need to first tame a pt or make a parachute to really explore the map, the further down you go, the better the resources, and the more dangerous it gets, with lots of amazing PvP centric base locations for tribes of all sizes, some act like intended ratholes, small discreet entrances but cleanly made and decent sized inside, defensible caves, small floating islands to build on, at least 3 Alpha tier base spots, a massive underground labyrinth, with base spots and cave drops scattered throughout, a huge subterranean (no fliers) abberation zone, leading to an underground city. It's an ambitious project and I'm a long ways from launch. I'm about a month into development and at the current pace, a Hopeful ETA would be like january at the earliest, it's a big project for a team of one. 😮💨Still I remain hopeful, I love this game So I'm down to make my contribution, and make a little cash on the side.😅anyway, back to the grind.
Assuming you don't give up (which is very likely), considering a lot of games themselves are under $5 on Steam, charging $10 is wayyy too much to for a mod map 😂
The fact that this map ras played even has a price tag on it in its current state is nothing short of a joke.

I made a mod on ASE that was.... not popular. it WORKED THO. 🤔That took me I wanna say 8 months. so I have the drive lol. the biggest slowdown is I also have to work a fulltime job. I agree Appalachia has issues, largely the antimesh, which apparently is quite an issue on some player made maps especially on official. I think that's probably more wildcard's coding than the map makers, and from experience, the antimesh is OFF in the devkit... so. bit of a pain to test. easy to release without even knowing it's gonna be an issue. So I for one am glad to know about it ahead of time. gotta make sure that doesn't happen.
As for what map creators are charging. Man. 5-10$ being too much or not is really subjective, the amount of work that goes into it is crazy. but pricing is about making maximum profit, which is more about finding a happy medium, the lower the cost the more people willing to buy it, but too low and you may run out of an audience before making as much as you could. I don't think you can adjust the price for these mods (could be wrong), so you're stuck setting the price out the gate and hoping for the best.
There's this mentality that if it's a mod it should be free, that dlc should be cheap. While I agree with that as a gamer, and a spender, I'm also a Man with a 350k mortgage in a shit economy, nothing is free, and an entire map for... I wanted to say the price of a meal but honestly food is starting to outprice that. there are trading cards that go for 40$. So it's just a matter of what you choose to spend on. but I still think I'd stick to 5$. if it's successful, make a second better, bigger map. charge 10 then maybe. probably still 5.

From my knowledge antimesh is usually caused by one way walls, if a line trace is visable from the backside of a mesh wall to the player it will antimesh them
@@Tupax Ah yes, put something tantalizing and powerful in front of the players then paywall it. not a fan. Either way ark's antimesh isn't well coded. most unofficial servers have it turned off. but they have admins to actually punish meshing so... the easiest workaround I can think of is running a thin layer of "cave" which is just an invisible box designating the space, right under the mesh, it doesn't need to be thick, maybe half the players hitbox in height. you can disable cave damage for that particular instance, and will give a bit of wiggle room for mesh detection, but that's a pain to try and do on uneven terrain, which is where antimeshing fucks up the most. unless as the map dev you just make a single giant box over the entire map then if it becomes an official map watch as the devs scratch their heads trying to figure out why their antimesh isn't working at all. 😏

Technically if you look at the ASE mod variant it says it's rumored to be an ASA official.
THis right here. I really do NOT intend on it ever becoming official though. I did all the work on the map and all they did was say if it ran or not. On the bright side, the community has been a massive help in finding issues I may have missed.
@KalugaOfficial I played it on ASE, great map, great concept. I do plan to run it on one of my servers down the road and feel the donation/ pay to play is worth it in most of these maps. You guys put a lot of time and effort in to making maps, asking for $5-$10 isn't bad especially when Wildcard had charged us $19.99 for dlc maps.

The map feels and looks empty with such little wildlife (part of the problem with very large maps). The anti-mesh is a game-breaking bug. I don't feel this is worth it as a premium map.
My favorite part of the map is when I spent 5 dollars on it to play on console just to learn it crashes every 3 seconds on console single player
When I downloaded omega, my first premium purchase, for ps5 now to even open up Ark Ascended I have to go into my ps5 settings and "restore all licences" and hook it up to the internet to do that. (Only have phone hotspot)

Imagine how many times he would lose all his gear to just walking on a slope.....
He won't the maps too broken as it randomly kills you by deleting your character itself (this also happens when you go to high into the sky on any map) it deletes any items that are on your hotbar plus anything in your inventory 😕

Asa was ruined for me when I can't even upload/ascend my charecter because when I go to download my charecter again, it throws me into a new charecter creation screen and then my previous charecter is gone.
Tried alot of different things, but can't make it play normal.
Can't even enjoy the tek unlocks and letting my same charecter ascend on a new map
