You can combine 3 different things in the tinkering table. That means if you only have a really bad longneck blueprint, you can combine it with 2 good blueprints you don‘t need and potentially get a much better longneck (1/3 chance when you combine 3 things)
I wish skins got reworked, make full body skins go on the character themselves so you can have a glider on your chest piece, make the new spider attach to the gloves or something rather than go on your shoulder
What's really cool is the train suits the steampunk aesthetic well so you can have like s full on civilization theme, I would really love to see some people start building cities and skyscrapers
Honestly the train seems better for Abb entirely. Gets over all that rough terrain and deep foliage faster than the blimp, and you can store/build more on each train. Blimp seems great for surface travel, but it's so slow I wouldn't really want to bother maining it elsewhere.
I'm not sure if anyone has said anything, but there is another pillar variation. when looking at the pillars where it says variant: Default you can cycle through them, and there is another pillar type that looks similar to the outside edges of the wall. Same with the ceilings and slanted roof bits. The ceiling has glass, and the slanted roof has a small window.
The gene scanner makes me think of the palworld breeding system: the pro of breeding your own in palworld is that you can just create pals with traits to get the highest stats, the down side is that they start at level 1. We’ll see how this method goes in ark, I think it’ll get a bit more complicated than it’s worth?
So with the genes, you'd want to farm genes by taming a bunch of creatures and then use the robust genes to make perfect pairs, and then put mutable genes on the perfect pairs, to start farming mutations, and then put the other genes on the final product to make it better. Sounds very strong
also with the zeplin... i HATE how they didnt take one of the few GOOD things from atlas: the placeable steeringwheel was GREAT, it would be great if they added that into ark for rafts and the zeplin, that way structures dont interfere with your view when you build on them
This is gonna be way too long, but hear me out: I'm a modder. Not a very good one, but one of the few ones foolish enough to attempt and port atlas shipbuilding, including the freely placeable steering wheel. I ended up using it for an airship mod out of all things lol (look up airships on curseforges ASA section) And let me tell you, the steering wheel mechanic is a pain from a technical perspective: 1) Creatures usually have a designated spot where the rider goes and i don't have enough experience to say if it's actually possible to make that dynamic 2) The official zeppelin has the steering wheel as part of it's model/ the "dino", if you make it placeable, it's a structure which makes everything complicated, because structures have some limitation regarding multiplayer 3) Technically the steering wheel in ATLAS is something like a chair with extra functions. Yes, when you steer a ship, you're technically sitting on a chair instead of riding. This is important, because ARK actually depends on the whole "riding" situation for a lot of data, which results in you having to mimick riding, while you're not actually riding anything but just on a chair 4) SInce you said rafts and zeppelin, the problem is, that at this point the creature/vehicle kinda needs to custom tailored to work in conjunction with the steering wheel, so it's not easy to make it universal, but you also wouldn't really wanna go through all of that effort just for one single vehicle TLDR: Modder here, making steering wheel placeable -> complicates things a lot + prone to bugs
Some of the stuff in this pack reminds me of a certain movie quote: "Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should." But a lot of it does look fun.
@@ryojimata3708 I'm exclusively a single-player ARK survivor, so I totally would love 90% of this stuff, and I could ignore the stuff I feel ruins the balance, namely the flying vehicle on what was once the non-flyer map. I technically had flyers on in my save file, but never brought any over, since it didn't fit my playstyle. Overall, I just find it crazy that they added some of these things, for multiplayer balance reasons-even if it was free additions to the game, a flying vehicle of any kind on multiplayer servers just changes the map too much, imo. I know PvP players (and PvE griefers) will always find ways to abuse stuff in the game, even stuff not nearly as OP as some of this, but to give stuff that's VERY abusable? Odd choice. All the more for a paid pack.
I absolutely love steampunk so this one my favorite map is just fantastic. I cant wait to see what ultimate beast you make with that Gene machine at some point.
Preserving bin makes jerky dude! The new one works like 5-10x faster than the standard preserving bin. Also, your tinkerers bench doesn’t need to use 3 bps of the same type. You can put in asc cloth shirt bps with a ramshackle Rex saddle bp and hope to end up with a mastercraft Rex saddle bp instead
I wonder if zeppelin + Cosmo = safe way to Rock Drake eggs... also whether you can build downwards from that thing... either could be sorta broken Also the gene scanner giving low level drake eggs a purpose is kinda nice
24:40 the forge actually give you a third extra metal ingots and I see it being used in big tribe or when someone need a lot of metal, one element is 2 hours of it running so I’m my opinion it’s a good plus for the game
For the issue of glider suits and skins not being compatible; you may want to check out the mod Gliders Plus. One of the things it does is add a second glider suit which you put in the shield slot and not as a skin, making it compatible with chestpiece skins.

Also of serious note the Zeppelin Structure count is TINY. it's like 25 maybe 30. So any plans for a mobile fortress will require some ini editing. Also everything on the Zep counts towards it's max weight of 1800. So it's not a raft, weight matters. Which brings me back to the linked storage unit :) If left unpiloted it will sink in 2 min till it's on the ground or water, yes it will land in water and float. Any structure built below it will be in the ground / under water. I can think of several very good trap options for this, scooping up things and moving them etc.
Now YOU can be a steampunk version of Sir Topham Hatt in Ark with those top hat skins. Bring it to Scorched Earth with the railroads in place and there ya go. XD

Few things they should have changed. Yeah the glider skin merged with the DLC skins, but also a skin for the generator would have been nice and the other things like Workbench, grill and industrial cooker. Not a fan of the gambling table for blueprints. Would have been better if you could put a weapon/saddle/tool into it and generate a blueprint of the item.
I just realized a rock drake has side vision and the goggles force them to forward facing Also. The orb light can be painted and change the lighting inside along with the color of the light
No teleporter? No problem! Have a second linked storage box next to a bed, load what you need into the one at hq, including your kit and cryod tames, n use the bed to travel to the other box n pull your things.
I tested the forge this weekend. Filled 299 slots vs 300 slots on 3 forges. Far better ratio, far better speed, far better structure. Just wish tek gen could power it.
I find that few people seem to know that if you want to preserve your organic polymer, all you have to do is put it in your snails. Not only do they produce it but if you harvest a bunch of penguins for instance, just put it all in your snails to preserve the extra. Definitely you are wrong about the blimp. That is probably the best thing they have added to a map without flyers, because that is the worst thing about this map. Give us a map with the most vertical areas and no way to easily navigate them. This is a fantastic addition.
Yeah the pricing on the DLC in Canadian bucks when it's not on sale is a bit nasty, ngl.... But that scanner is sick and I'm looking forward to seeing you stack absolutely ludicrous mutations and genes and make some real beasts. ALSO, I spoke too soon, I now might need at least one Zeppelin-base pirate battle against the boys.
If people are getting all DLC's for free, why TF are they complaining about paid DLC? If you've played the OG ARK, that shit was expensive unless it was a discount. Now, ASA is like 30 bucks or so. (Discount, of course)

But skins aren't that great, they did far better job with Western themed skins... Oh I can allready see a Batman logos in the sky all over the maps ;) I love all that breeding stuff tbh, it will make gameplay way more interesting ;) This time controler will be useful for collecting wild eggs/artifacts and our corpses Zeppelin looks awsome, not for ab but nice for other maps for sure... All in all I personally think this one is really interesting and fun.
You can also use spark powder to power the airship honestly I I’ve it I feel like it’s a raft for ab since ab doesn’t really have the water to raft so why not have an extremely slow flying base
I really like the air ship I think it would be really fun to have a mobile sky base that isn't stamina based one of my favorite ways to play is on raft bases so for me this is a better version of that
With the Tinkering bench, it's not something that seems worth it, since it averages everything, and then has a higher chance of giving you something worse back.

I was a little skeptical about the performance update but I must say it's definitely improved the performance on my PC, it even helped keep my PC cooler. However I'm pissed that Aberration has been littered with trees and bushes, Evolved was much better for this map unfortunately.

I like the utility of the new items, HOWEVER requiring you to buy the flat better version is cringe, sure you could argue ase did the same stuff each map... but you got a map with it. I only wish the new utility structures had a nonsteampunk look counterpart
It has to be. Let's not pretend Ark's code isn't a mess. If they felt they could change it, they would, but chances are it would do more damage trying to change it than leaving it alone.

I would guess not. The chests access the same inventory the same way that two players looking in one structure access the same inventory.

Low level drake eggs were already good for taming Basilisks and making kibble, but you’re right, they’re even better now that we can farm traits.

I wonder if you can you use the stop watch on a messed up tame like your trying to knock out a creature but you accidentally hit and extra dart into it messing up but I wonder with the stop watch you can reset that from happening.

I was a little skeptical about the performance update but I must say it's definitely improved the performance on my PC, it even helped keep my PC cooler. However I'm pissed that Aberration has been littered with trees and bushes, Evolved was much better for this map unfortunately.
Man, if only I could play Aberration day after launch... Too bad WCS forgot to play test the map on AMD GPUs...

30:00 i wonder how can you get traits out of eggs creatures like rockdrake since they don’t have traits when born and you can’t tame wild drakes. I have seen RaasClark live and he hatched a drake egg and it didn’t had any traits so how do you get traits on eggs creatures???
I like the utility of the new items, HOWEVER requiring you to buy the flat better version is cringe, sure you could argue ase did the same stuff each map... but you got a map with it. I only wish the new utility structures had a nonsteampunk look counterpart
The whole point of the theme was Steampunk all along. Shouldn't have expected them to give up on the theme people were looking forward to.
