    Kind of an opposite pumping things up tip. I used to always pump up our car tires with a compressor. One day, I was in a rush and just needed to add a couple psi to a tire and didn't want to drag out the compressor etc, so I used our bike floor pump. It was so easy, honestly, unless a tire is completely flat, I never bother with the compressor anymore for that, plus it's easy to keep a floor pump in the trunk.

    Very complete review, thank you. I am glad you showed about the surfing on that.

    My buddy and I learned to surf on iSUPS here on Vancouver Island. Our boards were only 4 in thick which helped. Good for up to waist high stuff. It's still my travel SUP although I've lost some of my mojo since I switched to hard boards.

    Nice video. I’ve had lots of trouble trying to surf our iSUP. A regular (epoxy) SUP surfs fine. “Regular” rails and bottom shape are worth a lot if you want to surf 2’ waves. Your explanation of rail shape was clear and makes sense.

      Thanks! Yeah, it's a hard beast to surf but better than not having any thing to surf, I need a proper surfing SUP and is in the works.

      @@AndrewWorkshop Which SUP are you planning on purchasing for surfing? Thx.

    • @AndrewWorkshop
      @AndrewWorkshop  3 года назад

      @@brettr876 I purchased a Decathlon 9'x29" sup, it surfs well but it's stil way too corky and also since you ride so high on the water, any chop or wind really bucks you around. I've mostly switched to surfing with a hard SUP and it's much easier and stable. If you are tight on room then an iSUP is better than nothing.

    Getting back on an isup esp with a floatation jacket on can be very hard ,people need to practice getting back on before they go into more dangerous waters.
    I tied a knotted rope to the middle handle an use it to haul myself up from the back,
    trying to get on from the side just caused it to flip.

    Ha you beat me to it...waiting for the right day to take my own out to the lineup. Mostly got it for lazy river days with my kids.

      Haha nice, it's still a blast but the wind is the killer, not to mention standing on it when there is more than one swell coming in from different directions makes for a good core and leg workout.

    Hey guys, if y'all are interested in paddle boards designed for surfing i would strongly suggest looking into the Pendleboard! Its got a hard tail and an inflatable nose, its faster to pump and better to ride in waves because its less flexible, hence you dont wobble, more stable when riding! Happy surfing!!

    I bought my daughter an inflatable sup years ago. It is amazing how ridged it is but yes thick. The disappointment with it is the fin attachment. Not compatible with any sort of normal surfboard fin.

    • @AndrewWorkshop
      @AndrewWorkshop  3 года назад

      For sure, limited selection if you lose it or want to try something different. The single fin on this board I could jury rig an existing one to fit.

    • @AndrewWorkshop

      I think if your main reason for getting a paddle board is for surfing, I would not get an iSUP unless it is one built for surfing. Otherwise, hard board is the way to go, at least based on my limited experience and research.

      @AndrewWorkshop  3 года назад

      @@dreys6tube Decathlon sells some good ones. I have the 9 foot one and its decent quality and surfs ok. If you are in Europe i think they sell surf specific ones. Although if you have the room and are looking to SUP surf and not flatwater paddle get a hard board.

    One more comment about iSUPs: the high walls (thickness) catches wind easily. Small breezes easily blow this design around

    Call me a radical, but Suping ain't surfing. Sometimes I feel the same way about Longboards. Praying God I never reduce myself to either one, but aging is irreversible and most of the time people recruit to those boards. Cheers!
