Yrs ago ran a P38a. Bought direct & not over main dealer. Ran it into local main LR dealers a few times. The workshop foreman took me around the "elephant's graveyard" one Saturday morning - his advice - unless someone else is paying for them (once outside the warrantee) - get shut of them. 6 months later i did just that. I run a defender at the weekend with a 300tdi but a RR never again
I bought a new Range Rover back in 1992. Only one year warranty back then, and nothing but problems - sunroof, wipers, a/c, transmission slipping, using coolant. Seemed like every time you got in it, something would go wrong. When the sunroof refused to close one day when it started raining, it was the final straw. I bought a new 80 series Landcruiser january 94, and still have it.
Those range rovers could have a service history from Rolls-Royce Bentley, Aston Martin. I still won’t touch it for the barge pole. Good luck with that one.👍👍🍺
I love how you think Rolls Royce, Bentley or Aston Martin are a mark of good quality. All cars that break constantly, owned by foreign companies, making complete crap with a badge stuck on
The enthusiastic & elated young gentleman in the rather fetching Adidas training foot wear demonstrated the flashing indication & rotation of the off side psa van mirror, but failed to inspect the small hole in the underside of said mirror to see if the sensor for the dpf outside temperature sender was present. Such oversight could lead to a misdiagnosis of the dpf being faulty & possibly cause unnecessary expenditure for all concerned. Excubrience is no replacement for excellence. Love these vids!
We looked this morning and sorted it out straight. The beauty of having this channel and vigilant viewers- swapped the old temp sensor the new mirror- all working spot on now. Thanks for letting us know!
On the Citroen van - Can have dpf issues if the replacement mirror doesn’t have outside temp gauge sender unit built in. See if outside temp still displayed on dash. Passenger mirror has the dab aerial built in on a factory mirror but not on the £50 ones.
@@cardealerpro if the covers on the original mirrors are damaged you can buy colour coded outer casings and keep original mirrors it’s cheaper easier than replacing mirrors
Yes, was just going to say the same myself. We have a fleet of these in work and we had a couple where the outside temp was no longer displayed- next thing was the DPF wouldn't regen anymore!!
Great video its good to see the ins and outs, will be following your journy. just visually looking in the video which doesnt show much but it looks like the pitch is quite plain, looks like your on a busy road but driving past your yard would look industrial, do you guys ever park the cars nose facing the road with the boots up ? and have prices on the front of the window big stickers ?
Tbf It’s not a very busy road! I used to be on a really busy road! Id have all the boots up and price boards in the windows but got fed up of the time wasters and test pilots, if I was still on a busy road I would definitely have the price boards in the windows. I’ve been thinking about putting a few price boards in the ones at the front of the pitch! That can be our 1 percent improvement this week!
Tell you what it's brilliant fly on the wall footage absolutely love it thinkbyou will sell more cars with it as your channel grows with your honesty its really good watch
The reason why second hand car dealers struggle to sell these high spec prestige cars is that the main dealers are selling brand new models at very low APR (PCP) and business lease/purchase for business customers with very low monthly payments and huge manufacturer and dealership contributions. Its madness to buy a used one 😅
Hiya just watching this today………ref Citroen relay , you replaced the drivers mirror, if it hasn’t got the temperature sensor in it you will get DPF regen issues, sounds silly but true! If the outside temp sensor isn’t showing on the dash put the original mirror back on !!!!!!!!!!!
Am sad to hear of so many sad Range Rover stories. On the plus side, I bought my TDV8 Sport in February 2009 and just love it. Minor repairs over the years but just such a lovely comfortable car with 160,000 kms on the clock. Am reluctant to buy a new replacement as the newer versions seem to be full of problems….. What to do?.
Good morning. When we buy a car and there's deffo no service history, we write to the former owner. We send a greeting card, we concoct a story saying that we've just bought it from the auction as a retirement present for my mother in law and we're just asking if they can point us in the direction of where it was serviced. 50% of people email us back. 2 big successes are a one owner volvo xc70 that had total main dealer service history sent to us and a q5 with full history and receipts for a new turbo. The reason we make up the story of buying the car as a present for a relative, is that if we told them we'd bought it to retail, you're less likely to get any response.
@@oceandrive7283I’ve looked at the area a repo was from and contacted the dealer and found out it’s got full dealer history so I’ve paid for a book pack fully stamped up … cha ching

That Citroen van will be back when you've sold it. The mirror you've fitted as outside temp in it and the new one won't have it, so the van will come up with loads of issues and the dpf will block up, the bottom of the mirrors will have a little dimple sticking through which is the outside temp sensor, you can tell you have problems because the outside temp on dash will be blank
My mate Mike has been a JLR service manager in Australia for 12 years, and he says there are beautiful but very unreliable with each car typically experiencing multiple warranty claims.
Yup. Concentrate sellers and mileage. Leave the stinkers. I’ve traded 19 years and first ten years was on price any mileage. Back of book anything. It made 20 sales a week at low low profit but huge turnover so ok profit. But each year 25k blow corner of broken cars. Better do less cars. Cars that sell and only 1/2 stinkers per year ( 10 plus cough ) …. Rangers make you feel like a lord. But as a trader they’re so hard unless you just specialise in JLR products.
Trouble is, even if you do shift the Range Rover that probably wont be the end of your costs. Likely be returned in the future for rectification on something not covered by warranty. Hope I'm wrong but they do have a bit of a reputation.
I did end up in court last year with a freelander 2,had rusty sills that obviously were covered by plastic trims so I didn't know, neither did the mot station.

What was the £1500 repair on the Range Rover?!
JLR cars are scary to own as they break too often & are expensive to fix!
The pipe to the heated seats has some sort of leak, a full pipe the length of the car needed to be replaced 🙈

If you have a car rental service like Turo, that would make a great car to use for Americans wanting to drive about the area.
