I only do all-over-print items and I do prefer Printful for this - I love their pattern generator tool and have also used their in-house designers to order custom designs.
meant to add that, on memberships, I do tend to feel they are more for the benefit of the suppliers than for the POD sellers, although I guess it can be mutual if you have high sales figures.
I'm not a big AOP seller, so I appreciate that insight! I know Printify also has a pattern tool now and they offer design services through their Expert Database - but I'm unsure how these compare to the services offered by Printful 😀 Thanks for reaching out!
Thank you Daniel for a really excellent video. You spoke clearly and not too fast and NO music in the background!!! Hurrah! I am just starting with this process and I think I will go with Printful mainly for the simplicity of their company. Thank you again and I have subscribed and look forward to watching many more of your vids (;o)
That’s great to hear 😄 Glad to have you join our little community and wishing you the best of luck! Looking forward to your thoughts and insights on future videos!
Interesting video. I've just started, and decided to go with Printful, as I couldn't be bothered with Printify, and having to select "the best" supplier for every products. As you said quality can vary from Printify suppliers, and if an order it's routed, to the closest customer's supplier, I wouldn't know the quality of the supplier fulfilling the order...
I agree with this. The quality can vary, however I’ve personally never had huge quality issues when using order routing. It completely depends on what is most important to you
How far along are you in the process I'm just adding up all the fees shipping Etc and I just don't know I mean I know people use the service and they make sales but on the printful homepage it shows gay pride company that said in 2019 they started using printful and then they quit their jobs 2 years later to do this full-time but when I look at their website they only have like eight reviews on a product how do you quit your job if that's the only reviews you have on a product in another product the most they had was 30 reviews so how much was that even true what I read I don't know what are you going to mark up your your products to to make an actual Prophet like what are you thinking your profit will be per product maybe I'm limiting myself in my thinking
within 3 minutes you have answered my question about shipping. I will stick around until the end now. Having potential customers all over the world shipping is my main headache. Printful might be the answer for me.
Thank you Daniel ! love your accent it makes me cheerful :-) content is on point, I am restarting with Printify right now and enjoying my time with chat support ! very helpful
Thanks for the video. I've been only using Printify for the last 9 months but I need embroidery so I'm looking at Printful. No need to move your hands as much! :)
I just tried placing an order with Printify and I was shocked at how much they charge for shipping. For 800 shirts they wanted to charge me almost $1800! The actual cost would be like $400 tops. I thought for sure an order this size would quality for free shipping but apparently not. With Printful everything over $500 is free to ship
I sell mostly mugs and I like Printful because they are across the world and have a selection of sizes in one listing, which I don't think I can do with Printify. I think that the print area on Printful is bigger than on Printify for mugs and my designs go across the whole print area, so they look better from Printful. I do have one problem which I would be interested to learn how to fix. I want to sell to the USA and Canada only, but Etsy shows my products across many countries which I have not set up shipping information. Do you know how I can fix this? 🙂 Another reason I use Printful is that the Printify mockups where so bad I can't tell what they would look like on a t-shirt. That size for the design varied on different mockups and they were off centre. It was confusing and frustrating as a new seller, so I went will Printful who I felt I call trust. I use both now because Printify are better for somethings, such as doing personalisation with Custom Happy.
Great video! Love your summary and I agree with you on several points. I will start with Printify and hope to check out the embroidery on Printful later. Thanks!

Quick noob question. You said you use both printful and printify. Do you use them both on one website? How is the fulfillment done and if you use on one website, how do you deal with the shipping costs for customers? Thanks in advance!
I can't understand how to set up a shipping profile for Printify. With the different providers with different shipping prices along with order routing, I don't know how I can come up with an all-inclusive profile.
I do free shipping on the profile and simply add the shipping cost to the product price. I only sell to 5 countries so I just check the cost of shipping to each one, and depending on what's the highest figure, that's what I add to the product price. I know not everyone likes free shipping, but I do find it makes life a lot easier.
Very informative video. This is the first video I've watched of yours & I can't work out where your accent derives from. It sounds like a mixture of USA, British & Aussie all rolled in together. Have you lived in all 3 places?
Thanks so much for this really helpful video Daniel. I use Printful for my ETSY shop and I am thinking about using Printify . My problem is, that I sell mostly to the UK and a few to the US and I am confused, as I think I would use Monster digital for the US, but haven't heard many reviews for UK printers. Can you recommend any? Also, may I ask, do you have to set one printing company and then just rely on whoever Printify use if they need to swap countries? Thanks again for all your help, Maddi 😊
Hi Maddi, thanks for watching! You're definitely not alone with this dilemma. For UK POD suppliers on Printify, I've used T-Shirt & Sons and Print Clever for most of my products. But it depends on what items you're looking at selling. And yes, you're right. You pick your primary printing company and then Printify will route the order to the most suitable one, you cannot pick. This is the one downside to Printify's current order routing system - I'm hoping to see improvements to this in the future :-)
@@EtsyDaniel Hi Daniel I am in the process of just setting up my Etsy store, I also plan to have my own store with Shopify when I am established, possibly some time next year. I want to ship international, in particular the USA because they have the highest percentage of buyers on Etsy. I was looking at Printful and note they have a UK based fulfilment centre in Wolverhampton. I also looked into Printify and wanted to use Monster Digital and Swift POD as my preferred production partners, they're both US based, however I don't think they have a UK base. I think it would be harder to be competitive with Printify, but I would welcome your take on this for a newbie like me.
Question on the customer service side, I'd love to hear your thoughts... I have a digital product shop and it pretty much runs itself with minimal maintenance. How much more involved would a print on demand shop be, assuming there's no apparel? Asking from someone who works full time in front of a computer... I'm interested in starting one but I also can't constantly do customer service if it goes hand-in-hand.
I don't think there is a definite answer to this. While customer service does make up an important part of your print on demand business, it is not unmanageable. The main difference to the customer support you provide via your digital product store would be around customer queries or issues with the physical products sent to them. As I mention in this video, the POD providers are great at supporting you with these issues though
Hello 👋 I'm new to POD. I was learning Amazon Sellers and learned that Printify does not connect....well as in it doesnt automatically design and ship the product. You have to take many steps as in labels and SKU etc. Is Printful the same? Or when a customer purchases something on Amazon and printful is connected when they purchase does Printful design and ship the product out? Great Video! Thanks!
I use both as well. I like Printful's all over print selection over Prinful. I also like the way Printful allows me to brand my items and mockup my items. However, like you, I really like Printify better. I like their support, princing and their sellection. Also, that quick shipping feature really does it for me. I like Printful but I like Printify a little bit more as well.
I know this is such a random question, but how do you individually adjust for a mug, I did the 9" x 3.8" mug design large design pink background, it fits 15oz perfectly then I need to adjust for 11oz which then means I have to readjust it is insanity, like a circle of hell. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong please
Use Printful for the different size mugs in one listing. When you create the listing you can see below and click on each size to adjust the design for each size. Then go up to the top section on the right and click on the mock up to see how each size looks. You can click on design to do any adjustments. I like to add all three size options with the largest size making the other two sizes look cheaper. I think this has help me sell more of the 15 oz mug. For the differences in the postage, I use the cheapest price and add the difference into the price of the larger mugs. Cheers

Hi, Daniel, thank you soooo much for your very informative videos (with no music! Great!) I had decided to go with Printful but after creating three t shirt designs and loading them onto my Etsy shop via Printful I find in the sizing drop down box each size has the term 'US Letter' alongside each size. I have Goolged this term and the clue is in the title...it refers to paper sizing! I have contacted both Printful and Etsy about this. Printful blames Etsy as US Letter only shows once the product has been exported to Etsy and it cannot be deleted from Etsy sizing. I don't think anyone will buy from me as this sizing is very confusing (btw I am in the UK). You must have come across this before so do you have a work around for this? I am feeling very frustrated after putting in so much work. I wonder if Printify have the same problem with the Etsy sizing saying 'US Letter'...
I found out how to work around the problem! Firstly, Etsy deny that it's anything to do with them as they say once the product has been uploaded to their site from Printful they have no input in descriptions, etc. but I am sure it is something in the Etsy algorithms that add 'US Letter' to the the sizes. Although it was a complete pain to have to start again, I went back to the Printful site and change my product listing to 'Men' (as it seems Etsy only add 'US letter' to anything Unisex or Women's. Then re-listed (Printful call it pushed) to Etsy and yay! it shows OK without the US Letter! I then listed my items on my Etsy page as also Women's and Unisex. Hurrah!
Hi Daniel, what a great video with the details in each area. Do you have an email list per chance? I am a newbie, just opened an Etsy store and trying both. The experiences you're detailing in all the areas are VERY close to what I' finding too! If you do have an email list I'd love to be on it.

Nice comparison! In addition, I have thought! This whole idea of POD will help in improving environment as fast fashion takes a major role in degradation of environment. So my funda is simple selling a couple of products like tshirts, phone cover and wall art and not compromising quality... I find some articles about Gelato of its environment friendly...whats your take on that! A similar comparison video on Printify, Printful and Gelato would be very nice! Thanks!
@EtsyDaniel My thinking might be wrong, but I do different products, and if I have to purchase one product from each supplier to check the quality sounds like a lot of time and money. Also if will end up stuck with a lot of products on my hands 😂
Good point! When I order samples, I will typically group variants that are similar and then just order one from each group. So for example, if I am selling a design on 10 different shirt colors, I will typically order 1 light shirt and 1 dark shirt to see what it looks like. I do the same with designs. I'll group them into designs that are similar in color, shapes, etc. and will just order 1 from each group. This will typically give me a general sense of the quality and what I may need to adjust.
