In Kursk's heart, a storm unfolds so grim,
Ukraine's bold march, a piercing, fierce hymn.
Putin now tastes the bitterness he brewed,
In this dance of fate, his own medicine stewed.

Multiple reports now of an incursion into the Belovsky District of Kursk Oblast. Ukrainian forces have reported being seen in the town of Gir'i, 20km south east of (already occupied) Sudzha. There are even claims (by Russians) of fighting near Belaya (34km south east of Sudzha). Of course, some of these reports might in reality stem from no more than a few advance Ukrainian scouts. It's dark, the Ukrainian Special Forces have night vision equipment whilst the Russians mostly don't. But there is real panic among the Russians, many of whom are perhaps jumping at every shadow.

I talked to a Ukrainian man who's a farmer here in Canada. His brother was on the
front line fighting for Ukraine. His brother was injured, and sent back home, to his
Ukrainian village. He said that he, and many other Ukrainians do not like Zelinsky,
and I replied, like him or not, he's a good commander and chief, and doing things
right. This guy says he believes they can defeat Russia, and take all their land back.

She has no idea what she's talking about with regard to the gas pipeline. Orban wants his cheap Russian gas and has been working against Ukraine's interests within the EU and NATO. Ukraine turning off the gas transiting within its territory would be a breach of their supply agreements. Ukraine blowing up the gas infrastructure on Russian territory would be considered "Force Majure", and would be outside Ukraine's supply agreements. Ukraine must lower Russia's revenues as much as possible.

    Two points for the experts:
    1. You keep calling this attack "an incursion" like it's some little temporary spoiling attack. I can't help but notice you're making the same mistake Russians made based on some previous Russian "freedom fighters" attacks that actually were incursions. Well, that proved to be a mistake for Russia, why are you repeating it? Call it an attack, call it an offensive, but it's clear that it's definitely more then an incursion.
    2. The question of how long Ukrainian presence on Russian territory can last has nothing to do with the border or the fact that they're inside Russia. War doesnt know borders, it knows front lines. There is not a single reason to assume AFU can't hold a part of Kursk oblast. It is neither easier nor harder to hold than it would be to hold at the border, especially since it's (in terms of logistics) a fairly shallow bulge with good road connections. You're acting like "oh I don't know if they can defend 15 km inside Russia", but if they pull back to the border then they can defend all of a sudden? Border is not some magic shield. Quite a contrary - you'd want to defend inside enemy territory because the attacker has to demolish his own country's infrastructure if they want to kick you out, then rebuild it if you want to push further.
So yeah, I appreciate the report and the thoughts but try to be more thorough and in depth, will you?

With reports of Ukraine also moving across the border near Belgorod putting the whole border into a panic, I can only see this ending in a couple ways.
    1) Russia pulls in reserves and reinforcements and stems the advances and pushed back. But having to reinforce the whole border then leaves them with nothing left to push more in Ukraine effectively ending the war.
    2) Russia personnel in the Kremlin realizing falls from windows are in their future over this counter the actions first in Moscow, with a coup against Putin, leading to a halt in operations, effectively ending the war.
    3) Russia can't stem the advance (they are using vans for gods sake to move supplies as most other heavy trucks and transports are already destroyed), and as land losses mount, Putin decides that since he's dying anyway he's taking everyone with him and orders a launch. Thus the world comes to an end, effectively ending the war.
Personally 3 sounds better to me as another 90+ days of presidential elections in this nation will have me begging for an end anyway.

I do though question the sameness of the commentary here about Ukraine. Russia is always on the verge of collapse, and Ukraine on the brink of winning. Because Russias problems are catastrophic, the only reason they are able to put up with is paying for the deficits with human lives. None of the assessment of their problems are inaccurate or over the top, Russia just has a remarkable number of poor regions to draw men from before it gets to places like St Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Moscow ect, where the perceived exchange rate per young man becomes less favorable and people closer to Putin gain an incentive to complain

Since then, things have swung back and forth. But the Times Radio message has been consistent. Russia is on the verge of collapse. Now many months have passed, it hasn't collapsed, and Ukraine's 2023 offensIve ended in disappointment.
