- I had yet another DXM spree recently after my job didn't work out and am now trying to get clean again (currently on Day 4). This time it looks like I'm going to inpatient treatment, my CD case manager is really pushing for me to go to treatment.
Good luck buddy. I went to voluntary inpatient rehab for the exact same thing, DXM. I was drinking 1-2 bottles every day, around 700~900mg of DXM and nearly died from the strain it put on my heart. I've been clean since June 2020. You can do it!

As a DXM addict and someone who has used many substances it is insanely powerful. Some of the most intense experiences from drugs is DXM and I tripped everyday for three years on DXM so that is saying a lot

Fuck man I’m a poly addict. Main thing is fentanyl and whenever I go to treatment and they take us to the store I’ll steal 5-6boxes of triple cs or 5-6 bottles of delsym and do the water separation method which leaves a longer high and no chugging gross syrup. Anyways I get it man when I bring up my dxm addiction in groups sometimes people laugh bc they’re like “it’s just cough syrup.” Dxm has gotten me more high than anything on the planet and I’ve tried literally everything. Yes including 5meo dmt with a shaman. Dxm shits on it, going back to me being at treatment, whenever I go I end up using dxm basically the entire time, which leads back to Xanax and fentanyl. Fentanyl is physically the worst withdrawal, but mentally dxm is the worst, even worse than over 20mg of Xanax a day. Nothing is fun, and the days go by super slow, and all I can think about is dxm makes everything more interesting and gets me out of my headspace so I don’t have to think about all the trauma I’ve caused to people I love. Hope ur doing at least a little better now I’m currently 8 days clean off of everything.

dxm ruined everything when i was addicted, i lost friends, family didnt really like me, i almost lost my girlfriend who im still dating to this day, i was mentally abusive, i was losing my mind, i was addicted for a year and im 3 months sober, it feels like the best high ive ever felt, better than weed, alcohol, opioids, anything (besides psychedelics which i didnt try yet at the time), i got sober with the help of lsd and psilocybin, and now im just waiting for withdrawals to end which according to my therapist it should be next year. its fucked up, dont do this bullshit, its addictive, my girlfriend was also mildly addicted, everytime id steal coricidin id get a box for her too, but we went through a box in 2 days max. 10-16 pills everyday for a year
I also went into treatment for 5 months due to DXM. Currently 5 months and 20 days clean. It’s not easy but it’s possible!
Glad you are getting the help that you need. Addiction is tough. Just don’t give up! 🤗
DXM withdrawal is like ssri withdrawal (antidepressants)

Hey my man; I’m going on 2 months clean now after daily use for the last 8 months and on and off use for the last 5 years; I’m doing really well man. My memory has come back and all my withdrawals physical and mental are gone. Recovery is possible man. One thing that has helped me a lot is discussing with fellow addicts and the such about the cause(s) of the addiction. U can do this man. I believe

Guys this is Cory 2 years later, im doing good, I'm clean. I've been free of all drugs for 15 months, it took time in jail, rehab, and mental health court to accomplish this. Thank you all so much for watching my content and all the support. God Bless.
I use antipsychotic with dxm so i dont hallucinate but feel the sedation no withdrawal effects i drank almost 100 bottles of dxm but at last once at night for few seconds my breathing stopped so i m stopping it.

Irresponsible state legislation and enforcement are a huge part of the problem!
Like dxm did me good and for some reason I get toxic poisonous effects from it instead of feel good like now I shake uncontrollably so I stopped it and I wonder of anyone had the same problem.

I went through dxm addiction last year and I’m still feeling the long term affects from it. It ruined my life. The withdrawal was the worst month of my life. I am seeing this 3 months after you posted it but I really hope you’ve stopped.
What are the long term and withdrawal effects i am planing on quiting soon
Im 51 days clean now. I feel like using dxm a lot right now its still possible to get clean and I wont give up on my goal and I hope you find your path to long term sobriety too. We are not in this alone and we can make it there is always hope and we do recover
Damn!! It sounds as though things have been really stressful lately. The job stuff, the relapse, the more dangerous drugs. I think for me what’s hard is it can be a cycle where I get mad at myself and disappointed with everything, especially thwarted expectations, and then it’s even easier for me to turn to whatever has been addictive even if harmful. Argh. Going off things literally feels like torture lol. I’m glad you have a supportive therapist / case worker. Is there any way you can do something less dangerous in the meantime? I hope by now though you’ve already found a place. (I’m writing this a week after you posted.)

That sucks that treatment is so far away. But maybe it's a plus being away from family/personal distractions. How long will treatment be for? I hear Henry Ford hospital has a good program. I wish you the best.

Lol how do you even get addicterd to it. It's fun but I've never had a compulsion to do it over and over.
I sadly have been over using dxm for about 7 years now. Ever since I was 16 I tried it and loved it. Thank God for Robocough now so I don't have to pop those huge horse pills. I also drink heavily too. I'm really worried about my liver. It's starting to feel weird. I dose about 3-4 times a week. It mellows me out at this point. I don't trip or anything now. My tolerance is very high. I tried to stop but I start to go through psychosis and get really irritable and anxious. Ugh. I don't miss the triple c days.
