      I try to take Trent Horn's advice and not judge any faith by those who practice it badly. That being said, the problem many (myself included) have with Catholics' relationship with Mary isn't that we don't understand what Catholics are SAYING.
      The problem is that what many Catholics say they are doing and what they actually appear to be doing do not appear to be the same.
      Though I don't use the term, I have no problem asking others for intercessional prayer, and I would say that I hold Mary in the highest of esteem. The problem is, I know more than a few Catholics whose entire prayer life consists of bowing before a small statue of Mary, praying the Hail Mary a bunch of times and thats it. Some will add in the random prayer to a coin with a Saint on it.
      This is one of those "if it walks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck" situations. Again, I understand what Catholics SAY, and I don't even really have a problem with the overall stance. I just think it's like saying "take look at this majestic eagle I have here" while it quacks away behind you.

    Father Pine, I’d love to hear your thoughts on why the church felt it was necessary to make Mary’s immaculate conception, and Mary’s assumption into dogmas that are mandatory for the faithful to believe. The other two Marian dogmas on her being the mother of God and her being ever virgin both seem to me to be about Christ, but the more recent dogmas seem all about Mary, so I don’t understand why the church felt necessary to make them mandatory to believe. I think these two dogmas, more than anything else the church teaches, are the biggest obstacles to protestants converting to Catholicism. I’d appreciate any insight you have.

    I'm happy to hear this from a priest. Also, the Scripture and of course the Church cited as criteria that the apparitions should fit with the Gospel. I just encourage anyone to read in the light of the Gospel the messages of any apparition. Personally I've read Fatima's messages and it encourages to repent but also to devotion to the apparition itself and promesse salvation to those who pray the rosary. In the scriptures, there is no verse that says that salvation will come from praying the rosary. Myself, I've been to Fatima, and I've seen people crawling on their knees in from of Fatima's statue. This is clearly worship and that cannot come from God. The real virgin Mary would never approve something like that.

    “Mary isn’t God, but He’s given her great authority and power and the ability to distribute grace through her hands because of His love for her. And the only thing she does is lead people back to Him. The fastest way to get to Jesus is through His mother because He designed it that way, not because it has to be, but because He wanted it to be. This is the way He came to meet us…through her, and so He wants us to go through her to meet Him, similarly going back.”

    • @MrCdepue
      @MrCdepue 21 день назад +2

      I don't believe that. To me it looks exactly like the false trinity because God does not lie or decieve. The very spirit of prophecy is testimony or witness to jesus as stated by the angel in revelation to John. Now pay attention here the reason why is because it's an abuse of doctrine of the trinity. God says "there is no savior apart from me" what Isaiah 9:6 tells us is that the messiah has the title everlasting father. So pay attention in the gospels the only way you get to the father is through the son and the only way you will ever get to the son is from the father because there is no savior apart from God himself. So saying Mary brings you to the son is no different than saying Mary brings you to the everlasting father in that context and it's just not true. In the end all the false worship is transferred to the antichrist. Dueteronomy 13:1 and jeramiah chapter 44 please read and consider. Make sure you know the lord, not all who say to him on that day will enter the kingdom of heaven, moreover they performed miracles and healings in his name but they were acts of evil because the only source of good is bringing glory to God himself and no created thing.

      quote:
      CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
      SECOND EDITION
      67 Throughout the ages, there have been so-called "private" revelations, some of which have been recognized by the authority of the Church. They do not belong, however, to the deposit of faith. It is not their role to improve or complete Christ's definitive Revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history. Guided by the Magisterium of the Church, the sensus fidelium knows how to discern and welcome in these revelations whatever constitutes an authentic call of Christ or his saints to the Church.
      Christian faith cannot accept "revelations" that claim to surpass or correct the Revelation of which Christ is the fulfillment, as is the case in certain non-Christian religions and also in certain recent sects which base themselves on such "revelations".
      end quote
      The gist: Apparitions of the Virgin Mary, such as those at Lourdes or Fatima, are considered private revelations. The Church may recognize them as worthy of belief, but they are not obligatory for all Catholics to believe. Your faith as a Catholic is based on Scripture, Tradition, and the teachings of the Church. If you find personal spiritual enrichment in Marian apparitions, you are welcome to embrace them, but your standing as a Catholic does not depend on it.

    I haven't watched the video, but my simple, first reaction to the question is: of course.
    Okay, it's not part of the deposit of Faith, "public" revelation.
    But Scripture itself says we can't bear all the knowledge at one go.
    The Spirit will guide the Church into all the Truth, even telling us of things to come, as and when He sees fit to do so.
    For example, the situation in Mexico in the early 16th century from what I've read is terrible. Heaven needed to intervene. So, thank God He sent Our Lady of Guadalupe.
    We can also think of the great spiritual fruits of shrines like Lourdes and Fatima, where Our Lady appeared.
    Sure, I guess you could say you don't *need* it, strictly speaking.
    But that strikes me as an imprudent position, spiritually impoverished.
    If God wants to send timely gifts and graces into specific points of history, I think it is good to read the signs of the times in the Spirit, and not reject His gifts.

    Can I ask, why we need to come to Mary to get to Jesus? Is this a thing within Catholicism?
    Next, and perhaps more importantly, if in order for Jesus to be immaculately conceived within Mary, she had to be immaculate herself ( I think I'm understanding this correctly ), and further, to be immaculately conceived, one must be conceived in an immaculate woman's womb, how then was Mary immaculate? Were her parents immaculate? Their parents?
    Please don't take offense, I'm genuinely asking.
    Thank you, and grace to you.

    • @Kjt853
      @Kjt853 20 дней назад

      I’m no theologian, but according to the dogma, Mary was conceived immaculately “by a singular grace and privelege granted by Almighty God.” Her own mother would not have to have been conceived immaculately.
      Please know, too, that the dogma wasn’t promulgated until the mid-19th century. It had been discussed and debated for centuries, and if I’m not mistaken, even Thomas Aquinas (13th century), considered one of the greatest Catholic theologians of all time, did not accept it. (I could be wrong about that, but I’ll leave it to someone with more knowledge about Aquinas than I have to make any needed correction.)
      Regarding your first question, I was raised in the pre-Vatican II Church and even back then was never taught that one needs to “go through Mary” to get to Jesus. When it comes to Mary, I sometimes think that a lot of popular piety gets mixed up with actual Church teaching. Some Catholics might say, “Jesus came to us through Mary, so we go to Him through Mary.” Once again, popular piety, not dogmatic theology.

    As a born again catholic, I can say that this is the biggest problem and mistake with the catholic church(other than the pope). Many people throughout history were chosen by God because they lived a sinless and righteous life. It doesn’t mean that we should worship them. Christ alone is the way the truth and the life. Mary and the pope were NOT included in the trinity. Yes, we honor the blessed Virgin Mary. But that is all. What I do love is Holy communion, a traditional mass, and the holy Eucharist. The church is not a perfect institution by any means, but it is wonderful.

    I find your statement, “ christ, was cast into Mary’s mold” incredibly offensive. Mary was a wonderful person by man’s standards, and she was certainly privileged and blessed to be the earthly mother of Jesus but she was absolutely sinful. Her basic nature was sinful, and she admitted herself that she needed Jesus to save her from her sins. And these apparitions that you claim are by Mary I truly believe are somewhatdemonic. There is absolutely no indication in scripture that a person who has passed away in this life will at times show them selves through some apparition. Towards the end of his earthly life, Jesus complained that humans are constantly looking for signs, but he added that the only sign left that he’s going to be given is that he will be dead for three days and come back to life. That’s it. and may I just add, practically every pagan religion has some woman involved in the upper echelon or part of deity.
