so, Ableton on Apple, then Novation X-station (keyboard, audio/midi interface) 2x novation launchpad (playing and recording loops, overdubbing, also step sequencer), korg nanokontrol (used as a mixer) akai lpd8 (drums, effects) eowave-ribbon (ribbon controller) MFB Microzwerg (little semi-modular analog synth) MFB Urzwerg Pro (analog sequencer for the Microzwerg), headphones (instead of microphone) i think thats all :)
Thanx! The live part in Ableton - I play drums with the pads (Akai LPD), then I record the beats as midi, the same with the keyboard, i record midi live on empty clips. I hit Record and Play with the Launchpad. One of the synths has pre-recorded midi clips. The acid synth-I use a max/msp patch to make Launchpad a sequencer. This time I had also an analog seq. and synth by "MFB", which I normally dont bring, but usually I have a turntable to drop acapellas or locked grooves for extra live vibe:)
by they way, looking at Jeff Mills djing is quite amazing. I wish there are more djs like him. What he does - i take it as a live show, even he uses dj equipment. I think in the future the border between djing and electronic music live show will slowly dissapear. Both types of performances are great if they are done well, why not joining them?
He is the new Jeff Mills in my humble opinion. At this point of his carreer he could make billions on beatport selling EDM, or choose to keep going what he is doing here, pure improvisation, passion, live tools... It does not matter that some times he fails trying some improvisation, because he puts so many passion in it.

I keep comparing Kink to the Wizard for years now and people think I am crazy...but they have no idea what Strahil does - he is not your typical DJ - he is a producer! And in my opinion, there are only 2 left in the world (real producers of electronic music) and those are Strahil and Jeff.
Musically Kink is a genius, but the reason I buy his records and see his shows is because he genuinely loves what he's doing (look at the happy face haha).. Plus he gives us insight in how he makes his masterpieces (check out "making of handmade") and always replies on questions concercing his gear or which tracks he uses.. Most DJ's are arrogant pricks, but watching this boiler room set it's like one of your mates is f*cking around on his new set-up and I'm just kicking back enjoying the show
At the time I was a regular listener of Kink fm radio, Astra 19 E and it was customary to record the sounds of the electronation program on CD by chance that day I couldn't, it was a Saturday I was with a friend and I went to show him the program, when second part spins this 15-25 minute remix of pure magic, at the end the show hosts gave a happy laugh, best track ever from electronation without a doubt.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🖤
One thing I hate about boiler rooms : the host. Did you see how he tells KinK that there is only one minute left ? One minule ! Are you serious ? DJing, playing electronic music live, it's not only pushing start/stop in the middle of your set. KinK is building his world, his music, setting a mood, a rythm.. and like in any song, you have a start and an end. They could advise him sooner...
you are correct. it's a laptop at the core w/ arrangements in place from his original productions, but the point is, it doesn't necessarily FEEL like it. It feels alive, which is what we all crave, inherently, on the dance floor, and what most laptop sets lack. It's beauty.
The impact that rare sounds make the first time you hear them, once two and three. Radio Kink fm electronation 2009/2010/2011. I don't remember the correct date, best electronic sound I've heard since ever. The best song on this program, they were talking, they stopped talking, they were silent and I followed the music... A woman's voice, soft melodic beat and bells, replicate in the long track, sounds coming from nowhere in a perfect harmony of rare beauty. It's embarrassing the best song on that program and perhaps the best electronic sung sound in the world of all time, no one listens to these DJ's incompetence.🤔🖤

I noticed that too, not once did a drum pad sound fall out of place, I think they might be drum loops which he is activating and deactivating by pressing the pads.

Not neccessarily, you can pre-quantize what you record in Ableton for example for the drums to get recorded without mistake.
