- The National Health Insurance bill has officially been passed. President Cyril Ramaphosa signed it into law yesterday at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. According to the president, the Act seeks to eradicate inequalities for those who have been neglected. Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance announced that it will be filing a legal challenge against it.

Her arguments are weak. The government is already planning to change the status quo of the public health system. Each healthcare provider will need to reach a minimum standard before enrolment.

This is a great initiative by the government. We just need to strengthen the act in terms of funding and corruption. It should be incredibly difficult to bribe or abuse the system by both public and private sector. The devil is always in the details.
