Run comments:
Great run. I just about nailed the important tricks for every boss with some minor hiccups for some of the other missions. The mini turbos and driving in general are sub-par given this recently acquired DS with a D-pad I'm still not used to playing with. My sum of best as of typing this is 23 seconds faster than the actual time, so it can still be pushed a bit. I am pleased anyhow.

Was fun watching all the missions streams leading up to this moment. You've been improving incredibly fast from day to day and now you've achieved the seemingly impossible task. I'm absolutely astounded by your dedication and determination and it was great helping you out to nail the final important strats in the boss fights. You could also say: this WR was the birth of the first ever successful run with the A-Holding sequence skip (Polish's first mkds invention hehe)

@@pakjeInstead of Spamming A to skip the boss sequences (introductions) at the start, you just hold it until it fades to black. This consistently gives you the fastest skip

@@Roxleton that was what multiple people said after bitter, the former wr holder, got his 38:59. Not kidding, it was seen as "perfect, no one could ever beat it"...despite the fact that bitter needed to restart a mission once and even crashed against 4 cars on 2 missions. Anyway, Abel shut these people up with his WR

Congrats on the world record abel! I unfortunately missed the stream today but this is an amazing run! but would it be possible to use the touch screen to exit to mission select and select the mission faster?

It's faster indeed, but it could be all the cables plugged into his ds (he recorded it with a capture card and the audio cable also needed to be inserted to hear the gameplay in the software), which might've troubled abel into touching it. And if he'd misclick with his thumb, which is quite common, things could get problematic

Thanks! Yes, touch screen menu'ing might technically be faster, though by not as much in my opinion. I would probably have implemented it already had it not been for my streaming setup making it awkward (my DS is held under my desk like a controller, and I use the capture software to play on my monitor so I can see the gameplay better).

Oh wow, I don't know if I could deal with all that kart variation even half as well. How many attempts did this take? Have you ever thought about dpoing voice over commentary? Your voice is soothing
This took around 300 attempts according to LiveSplit. As for the voice, thanks! I've done the documentary and I intend to do some more videos in that style for the future seeing as people enjoy it.

You’re missing out on hopping uphills in a bunch of missions. 1-6, 2-4, 3-2
Is your 7-7 strategy slow on purpose? You can break through the boxes to go faster.
I am well aware that hopping uphill will be ever so slightly faster for those missions but I choose not to do it mainly because it will wear out the R button further. The 7-7 strat I use isn't great, I know. In fact, you've reminded me to practice the box-breaking one at some stage. I saw Bitter did it in his run. This whole category can surely sub 38 with good execution overall.

Is there a sort of "tier list" for vehicles in mkds ? I know the rob, luigi and yoshi karts are the bests on most tracks, but how do the others compete together ? I'm bad at the game and i'd like to know for exemple if karts like peach's and Daisy's with strong drift stat but good mini turbos are better or worst than bowser's etc

@@HichamBoudouma Yes, but time gets added on (as per speedrun.com's ruling) since it isn't on the original hardware. Furthermore, the inputs are not as precise and easy to perform compared with Nintendo DS.

Congratulations on your world record, but I'd like to point something out that rubbed me the wrong way when it happened.
At 14:23, you timed that guy out early on in the stream, you misread what he said as him saying you were crying, but his comment read "i cried when you timed me out", and you proceeded to chew him out and use some strange stereotyped and exaggerated foreign accent to make the guy come off as stupid. Bad taste.
It was clearly a misunderstanding, but you using an exaggerated foreign accent to discredit someone and mock them rubs me the wrong way, and comes off as incredibly racist.
Thank you for the congratulations. To clarify, I am fairly certain the comment "i cried" was sarcasm, given the fact that this person was attempting to provoke/taunt since a couple streams now prior to this one. Whilst I admit my reaction was a bit much, their intention seemed, and still is, quite clear to me. I stand by my decision to ban them.
Also: I am Spanish and I speak the language fluently at a native level, which allowed me to pick up on what they were trying. Given this, would I still be at fault of any so-called racism? Viewing it from this angle, technically no.
@@mkdsabel I was under the impression you were chewing him out because you thought he had said you were crying, so the misreading and portraying a stereotypical broken english foreigner caricature came off in poor taste to me.
I don't know what kind of accent you were trying to portray, but if it was spanish it comes off as a little self-hating to me. I personally believe one's race isn't an excuse for racist behavior, regardless if they belong to the race they're making fun of.
first
