Tier 2/3 traits are now fixed and should be spawning :) One extra note discovered after uploading - you can extract traits from a tames corpse, allowing you to reuse them should you wish.
Higher stupid question but can tier 3 traits spawn for ones like Numb ? And will that still only cost 1 trait slot out of the 5 ? Sorry trying to make a super reaper rn
lol ark videos don’t get Millions of views bro most they get is 50-60k and that’s too ark streamers most times it’s 2-10k on average cuz ark is a semi small community compared to a lot of games but I understand your enthusiasm I wish ark had that many players that it could yield millions of subs for creators but we take what we can get and these guys still make great videos
Apparently Wildcard has given the greenlight for making mods that allow people without BTT to use trait stuff, so that's an option for single-player and unofficial servers at least
Ark players: "hey i just spent $5k on a gaming rig" Also ark players: "$30 for btt? Bro this is breaking my bank. I'll never financially recover from this! "
Thanks for the video! One question and one thing I believe I've found. First the question: how does the maximum creature level scale? As in, do you have to be a certain level for it to find level 150(+) potential tames? Second, if I am not mistaken, the scanner only points toward creatures you can tame. And I mean that in the literal sense! Using Aberration as an example, while you CAN add a Rock Drake to your roster of creatures, you can only do so by RAISING it. The fact Reapers are not a suggested creature to track down also supports this. Furthermore, while it would also make sense to only direct a player to an animal that can reproduce, given the nature of the item you are using, both in a video I watched and during my testing, I saw that it can help you locate a Phoenix. How convenient is that? All this being said, I do not mean to dispute what was said. Obviously, I have no idea if the device's current state is buggy or if it will undergo changes/improvements/nerfs in the (near) future. In fact, I am not sure if it is working without issue, as earlier I tried to find a charcarodontosaurus and it kept telling me there were none around... while I was flying above one. All in all, it seems like a cool system to sink countless hours into so you can have a King-slaying, Fatty, Coward of a dino!
I was so focused on the traits aspect I didn't notice some of the things about the scanner you've mentioned! Things like locating a Phoenix but not a Reaper had completely slipped my notice. I'll have to look into that and see if I can find out why. For scaling, I tested a few random levels and saw: @ 1 = 16 @ 50 = 65 @ 81 = 101 @ 105 = 131 I'll see if I can find a formula for a curve and get back to you :)
Alright, I have some answers :) For the tracking level limit, it's 1.25 x player level, with a minimum of 15 above your current. For the list, it doesn't seem to be calculated, there's simply a big list of "Don't show these" that has been manually setup, it's 84 "creatures" long and includes everything that you would be unable to extract a trait from (e.g untameables/unbreedables), all future DLC things, robots, vehicles, the Drake, Reaper etc. By the looks of it the Phoenix/Golem being findable is simply a mistake, possibly because they ARE directly tameable (unlike the Reaper/Drake), but they don't spawn with traits at all and cannot be bred so shouldn't be on there.
@@freynlives I appreciate your reply and your dedication. I am always happy seeing someone take their time to present more relevant and accurate information, even if it may result in them not being the first to get a video/post out. Will you be posting a video on Sir-5rm8? Its interactions and workings are interesting as well. For example, I noticed you cannot get the robot to pick up individually dropped items (the wrapped boxes), but you can have it organize an item cache (the bag you get after doing "Drop All").
You're welcome :) I'd like to do something on the robot at some point sure, I'm (as you noted) not the speediest because of how I go about things, so it probably won't be for a little bit as the Yi-Ling / Cosmo are a bit higher on my list at the moment. If you'd like to discuss anything feel free to hop by the discord, I'm sure others would be interested in what you can find as well
For the past several days, I have been enjoying the new features that has come with the DLC. Unfortunately, like many people, what bugs me about it is that several of these features are locked behind a pay wall. The Genetic traits system is probably the worst one. Sure, a player can tame a creature with a trait but in order to take full advantage of it, they would have to fork up £30 for the gene scanner and gene storage facility. It is basically forcing you to pay for the rest of a feature that should be fully accessible for everyone for free. I do hope that wildcard address this in future so everyone can take advantage of this new levelling system. The way that I think people would see it, they can address this by making the traits breedable. Someone will most definitely create a mod to solve this issue, even though it should be part of the core game (even without DLC). Maybe they want players to use the new equipment first before introducing it into the game. Perhaps that is why the devs haven’t put it in the game yet. Or they don’t know how to make it work with the system we have now. Over the past few days, I have come up with a way that wildcard could implement this in the game without dismantling their current genetic trait system. In the game currently, wild creatures now spawn with a random trait which I am calling a “Wild Trait”. To access the wild trait, a player will have to tame the creature first before using the new gene scanner to extract the trait from the creature. This trait, which I am calling an “implanted trait”, can be stored on the scanner itself or in the gene storage facility. The trait is species specific. Meaning that it will only work on the same species you got it from. The trait can only be injected into a baby of the same species and not into any adults. These traits also don’t pass onto the children when breeding. That is where my idea for “Inherited Traits” come in. Inherited Traits allow babies to inherit their parent’s traits through breeding. However, this type of trait would work differently from the one we currently have. For example, you can’t simply implant a trait into a baby and breed it. The way it would work is that the player would instead of extracting the trait from the newly tamed creature, they would have to breed it with another for the baby to inherit. The Inherited Trait would become a permanent trait on the baby. Meaning it cannot be extracted with the gene scanner and it would take up one of the five trait slots on the creature. The player could still extract and inject implanted traits, just not with the inherited ones. Like with mutations, it would be a percentage chance for a trait to appear on the baby. Traits can also appear at different levels. And the way a player would be able to apply them is through breeding. The way it would work is that both parents must have the same trait but different levels and type. For example, to give the baby a level 2 kingslayer trait, players must breed a level 1 kingslayer inherited trait with a level 2 kingslayer wild trait. If there is a question about how OP these inherited traits would become due to breeding, then maybe they can be slightly nerfed. Let me know what you think about this. Perhaps we can convince wildcard to implement it in the game like how we got them to remove pyromane spawns from the aberration map.
TY for video, but some positions r different from wiki info, for example "Angry": in ur video - "tier 1=12,5%, next tier bonus=+6,25%", in wiki - "tier 1=1,25%, next tier bonus=+0,625%". Big difference... wat sourse is correct?
A decimal place is wrong :) Easy mistake to make! IIRC the Tier 2 is always +50% of the Tier 1, and the Tier 3 is the same again (or double the Tier 1)
Ok Im confused, I saw on the devkit that the Traits are stackable and maybe I confuse the levels with the stackable multipliers, and because of the fact that the Traits doesnt spawn with more than level 1 I didnt notice it, I already done a wiki page and all lol, I will check it later
Quite a few I've spoken to who have kit access came to the same conclusion, but in most cases stacking it 3x provides a different bonus than the 3rd listed multiplier (double checked on things like speed using the physics debug). There's also several that cannot be stacked more than once but still list 3 values, and also values for spawn weighting on higher tiers. So after fumbling around for hours trying to find anyway to merge traits, I asked a few questions on official discords, and the response was that higher tiers are "already fixed in internally, just waiting on a patch" :)
Only genes from Ankys can be used on an Anky, yes :) They're one time use in that it doesn't "copy" it, but it's not consumed, so you can remove it at a later stage and put it onto a different baby if you wish.
I don't even care about the paywall but the fact that they don't pass down through breeding is massively annoying. It will take ages to build these up.
As great as the combat music is, consider that a lot of folks watch ark guides while playing ark, combat music doesn't make your content great to have on in the background.
I used to not use music, but got a lot of comments suggesting to use some of the ARK music instead. Unfortunately, almost every single piece of ARK music *is* combat music. I try to lower the volume as far as I can without being unaudible, but there's a limit of course. If I can find some decent non-ARK ambience to use I will, but nothing has yet jumped out at me.
Well nice Idea, but extracting traits only from Tames render it absolutly useless for some dinos, useless have admin rights. Ever tamed a wild Wyvern, Rockdrake? No? Me neither, at least without using ForceTame or DoTame. Good idea bad implementation. Also all "old dinos" that have been breed before this update are now useless, or at least now having disadvantages compared to new breeds

Wyverns and Drakes both have a trait on hatching, but unless you can find the parent you won't have any way of knowing what trait it will be.
