This was exactly what I was looking for when I searched for "things that feel like Grama's house sleeping on the living room floor with the fan on in the summer while the adults play euchre in the kitchen."
In our area, we got cable TV back in the late '80s. That was some difference compared to watching NBC, ABC, PBS and a few other channels over the airwaves. I had to use a cable box when I subscribed to The Disney Channel. The Prevue Guide became The Prevue Channel and then The TV Guide Channel. Amiga computers were used for that channel (as you may notice near the end of this video). Cable TV got too costly, which is why a couple of years ago I decided to "cut the cord" and got Roku. 852 X 480. That's NTSC DVD quality in the 16:9 ratio. This guy presented it as an exciting new thing. That was then. Now, we have HDTV (1280 × 720 or 1280 × 1080) as well as 4K (3840 × 2160). How much more will we get???
Pretty much a waste of effort with the Philips promo, seeing as I couldn't hear most of what he was saying for the music at almost the same level if not louder than his speech!! 😡

dang....that's specific.
Between 1998 and 2002, My Top 3 Favorite Cable TV Networks were Nickelodeon, FOX Family Channel and Noggin!❤️📺🎶👍🏻
Thank you for posting 👍👍
Sega Channel was way ahead of its time
Oh yeah! That's the stuff. I can't wait until the 2000s edition.
1:10 Nice to see the Loch Ness Monster appear in this video!
Things really take off around 21:00
That tv would be sick for retro gaming
I Still own a 1990 MAC digital HD TV, very big.

Yes but something made the setup very awkward...
I prefer an 86" LED display myself
Can you imagine how long Sega games took to download? anyone know?
It was fast, had a friend who had one it was definitely not long at all, few minutes at most is what I remember.
All that to install a dish. No wonder they failed
It was interesting to listen to but yeah, wouldn’t have wanted to set one up.
