Hello mate. I just bought a house here a new build in woodside. House prices soo cheap compared to brum and rest of country. People say its a rough area but it's nothing compared to erdington birmingham. They are building 9000 homes it will turn into a brum wolves overspill I think but it's a nice place to start a family.
House prices are crazy cheap. You could buy a big 3 bed house for 200k. I bought a 2 bed new build for 155k. I am trying to advise my friends to buy properties here money goes far
I have lived in Telford most of my life and am now moving away from the area. Some friends of mine have gone. Too many people are moving in the area with a failing infrastructure, the traffic is getting worse. Houses are being built everywhere. And now labour are in power, will soon send more migrants into the cheap social housing being built.. It used to be a good place to live but not anymore. You are better off go live abroad or in other areas which are much better. My opinion..
I moved from Norfolk to Telford way back in 1981 (for work) and it was very much a concrete jungle back then. But the old Telford Development Corporation had an extensive tree planting programme back then and forty years later, we can all see how well it worked. Pretty much everywhere is lined with mature trees. Although I'm an East Anglian by birth (Cambridge), Shropshire and Telford has become my adopted home.
Would love to see what it used to look like, they definitely did a great job with the planting as it still feel quite rural even though it has expanded over the years.
I loved growing up here. It's changed a lot since I was a kid in early 90's, the town feels like it's getting meat on the bones, filling out a bit (which in the case of a new town, is a good thing) and maturing as a place. The growth over the last 10 years has seemingly brought relative prosperity, and Telford has slowly been climbing the various city index tables and it really does look like it has a good future. Wellington has really improved over the last few years really great to see that transformation. A cutural heart is really what was missing back in the early naughties. If you like walking you're going to find so many unexpected things dotted around the place. There's lots of evidence of old industrial works buried in the woodlands all over the town, along with some pretty cool concrete structures which came with the estabishment of the new town, most of which can't be found by looking at a map. The thing I don't like is the monolithic slab of the shopping center, or to be more accurate, its corporate ownership. There is no business community around the town center as there is in Shrewsbury for example. But most importanty, the town centre has essentially one half-assed investor, instead of multiple competitors striving to make the most out of their plot of land, as it is in every other town in the uk. I hope that the council can continue to reduce the favourability of the shopping center. It's great to see you so happy about the place and I wish you all the best.
I live in Telford. Nature wise I'd say it's quite relaxing. The view of the Wrekin from Wellington is amazing! Lots of history and quite a lot of things to do in Telford Town Centre. I'd recommend Telford.
Hello Mark, I met one of your colleagues James C. we viewed a property in Severn Way in Little Dawley approximately a month ago. Unfortunately it wasn't to our liking, required quite a lot of work. However, the good news, we found a place now, and hopefully "fingers crossed" it all goes through ok. We will hopefully be relocating from North Kent.
Hi Franco, Glad you have found something you like, Telford is a great young town with plenty to offer. If I can help in any way just let me know. All the best with your purchase.
I moved in Feb-20 just before COVID from Great Barr, so not too far from Walsall. I lived in Great Barr for 31 years (and Harborne 2 years) so it was a big deal to move away from Birmingham and family. Have to say it was the best decision for my family and the kids. More house for your money, parks / country parks, the town is great and I love being more active and rural. I actually walk down the road here and say hello to people as we walk past. The sense of community is much stronger here than I have ever seen in Birmingham. My family didn't want us to go but now they have seen it they all want to move here. Looks like you are Lawley way, which is where we originally looked before moving to Muxton. I actually think I looked at that specific part of that development too! Lovely houses over there!

I moved from London to Telford a few years ago , the cost was one reason Acess to GPs is just as bad. Renting is obviously cheaper, however public transport in Telford is atrocious, and sadly all new developments are being built on entirely car led design ., leading to car dependency. That’s not going to improve without massive local and central government change
