Hey Kurt love the channel. I bent 2 intake valves by not setting the cam timing correctly. When I was removing one the valve guide broker off on the number 6 intake. Is this something that can be fixed. It is a an L24 E88 head. The guide seemed to be part of the head and not like a brass or steel insert. Do you think I should find a new head ?

Thanks for watching! Valve guides are replaceable, maybe take to a machine shop near you and they’ll be able to set you up.

That head looks rough. I hope that it buffs out.
Also what did you use to pry down the springs to get the rockers out?

+Stephen McGroarty it is rough. We will see if the spare engines head is in better condition. If it’s not get ready for Extreme Makeover Cylinder Head edition 😂. I used a large screwdriver with its tip wrapped in a towel.

U' ve Got More Patience & Knowledge Than Me.I'd Be Tempted To Look For A Reconditioned 280 Head & Find Either Some Webers or 3 71-72 240 Carbs. Then U'l Have More H.p. & Dependability. The 260 Hitachi Carbs Were A Big Problem.HITACHI Makes Great Color T.V.' s & Stereos,But the 260 Carbs Were Messed Up By Factory ,Trying to Make Them Emissions Legal,I Believe ,Was the Problem.

+Ed Cain thanks! The good news we are putting some 240Z SU carbs on this engine. I agree on the 280Z head would be a better option. If I can find one in good condition and the right price, I might go that direction. Thanks for watching and appreciate your feedback!
