    I'm glad the EPA is being more strict with their test cycles. this does not change anything about the actual range you will get on the car, all it means is gives you a far more accurate representateion of the mileage you'll be getting out of your car. this is SO much more important when tesla just uses the EPA started range in their range estimates instead of real world ragne. so if they do the same in europe as in the usa with their range calculations, you'll think you have 400 miles, then get just 270 miles. thats terrible. i would MUCH rather have an accurate range estimate. if anything, i would like a conservative estimate. that way i know if it looks like i might barely make it, i'll know i can actually make i. while with tesla currently, you gotta add this in after the fact and say "well it says i have 40 miles, that means i only have 30 miles".
    im so glad the epa is getting stricter with the ev range estimates.

    If you’re interested in a MY I recommend not test driving a new/refreshed M3 - the refinement on the new one will ruin the MY for you.. I did just this over the weekend and I’ll be waiting to get a MY until it gets all of the refresh updates!

    Unfortunate that it is messy to compare when things are not apples to apples. As you said having an updated epa spec on prior years would be the best way to compare this. They should also have an EPA spec version that should be included in vendors statements rather than this messy system where prior years are not directly comparable and needs a lot of research. definitely more a flaw of the epa.
    Surprisingly reasonable price for the software unlock. Basically similar price/kwh to the battery upgrades from Aptera (which may go up by the time they release). The cost 10-20k extra for bigger batteries bundled with unwanted other extras really needs to go as an industry standard.

    I am a fan of the new EPA test cycle numbers. The thing they should mandate is that it should be retested for all vehicles. Companies at that scale should be able to retest (or more realistcally update the algoritms that give) the range estimate.
    I honestly did not feel that the old numbers made a ton of sense because there were other automakers mainly Ford that undersold their range figures because people drive like humans and not ideally all the time. Like the first thing I told people to do if they considred any EV was to look up real world range numbers cause whatever manufactures especially Tesla was not right.

    • @TailosiveEV
      @TailosiveEV  26 дней назад

      It’s still quite confusing. Model 3/Y long range numbers went down. But the LFP model 3 range didn’t change at all? So which is more accurate?

    • @Melchirobin
      @Melchirobin 24 дня назад

      @@TailosiveEV I do not know. That is the problem. The US govt mandated a few years ago that mpg needs to be more realistic to real world numbers. It should be the same way fit EV battery range estimates.

  • @Longsnowsm

    I am sold on the LFP batteries being the longer lasting variety at this point. I was hoping that this was the improved version of that LFP, but as soon as I saw the tax breaks I knew it had to be the standard cobalt batteries. Give me a LR RWD LFP in the M3 or the MY and then your getting closer to what I want. But the deleted stalks on the refresh is a NO GO, HARD PASS for me. That likely means this MY configuration is one of the last that will offer stalks. That is too bad. I won't be a buyer until they can provide what the drivers want, not what Tesla wants.

    MY RWD sold in 2023 have a different battery from those sold in 2024. The older cars have less locked out. That's likely why some cars will get 40 extra miles and some will get 60.
