- The Gimbal wheel on the DJI Marvic, mini, mini2 controller is in opposite control direction to some people's muscle memory. It feels more nature when you push the wheel the camera should tilt down. There is no option in the App to reverse the control. So I open up the RC and did HW modification.

Thanks so much. I never would have attempted this without your video and explanation. It was difficult to separate the two halves of the clamshell and I put some gouges in the plastic, but it was worth it. I did not understand how to extract 2 wires from the gimbal connector. I finally figured out that I had to lift each wire's retaining tab with a pointed knife, not for the faint hearted. Next time I'd probably choose to cut, splice and solder to avoid the risk of destroying the connector, which would have been a disaster. Like others, I did not remove the heat sink nor the rubber bumpers for the phone. But I did remove the circuit board in order to swap the wires in the connector. I'm looking forward to not having to think about how the gimbal is going to react when I adjust it!
This is how quad copter became a reality, true hobbyist. I agree the wheel feels backward. Good work!
only if you are in a backward world.. ... correct is you pull down, you push up....... lok at the wheel exactly the same as if it was on the left side of the case... push up takes gimble up and pull down when you want gimble down.
@@philldownes8685 in planes or drones you push to get the nose down and pull to get up, so not really backwards. A lot of people have had this issue, wish DJI just made a setting in the software to have it normal or reverse.

I actually didn't have to remove the heat sink: only remove the 4 exterior screws, open the remote (the most painful part of the mod by a mile because of all the clips) and disconnect the sticks, unplug the wheel jog cable and invert white and black. Reassemble (careful to put the cine/normal/sport switch in alignment!) and done! Brilliant.
Thanks for the video. I did this mod to my controller. Here are some notes: You do not have to take off the top rubber phone holders to get to the screws. You do not have to remove the heat sink. You do not have to remove the pod switch. The two wires you have switch around are the middle black and the outside white. After I was finished and before snapping the controller back together, I turned my controller back on it stated beeping on and off loudly. Thankfully there was a message on my screen telling me to power down the aircraft, go into the Control menu, and calibrate the controller. After I did that, everything worked at normal. Buttoned the controller back up and went flying. Much better. DJI really should have put something in the software to allow this wheel to be reversed. Thank you Digisky for the video. I am glad their are guys like you out there.

Thanks for the video. I have been flying RC and full scale for 30 years and I can not make myself push to go up. I will be doing this mod to my mini 2 soon.
Nice video. But mine is DJI RC with screen for the Mini 3. Is it possible to mod the up and down stick to the gimbal?

Thank you for this video. I appreciate knowing how to open it with minimal exploration. Looks like you can access the connector without needing to remove the heat sink too.
It is of course backwards, who every heard of "pull down" in flying, it is "pull up".
Thanks, and yes the heat sink just barely cover the connector, shouldn't have to remove it. But since knowing nothing beneath and there's only screws, just curious.
I wonder if this will work on the mini 3 pro controller. I hate the idea of taking it apart, but I can't stand the default (backwards) setup.

I just did the mod on mine and works great. They do NOT make the controller easy to get into. Just to note, you switch the white wire and the middle black wire.

that was a 3 pin connection correct? which 2 wires did you have to switch to complete the reversal? thanks, great video
i did this mod on the mini 1 and i switched the yellow and red wires, but i think you can switch any 2?
I double checked the original footage, you should swap the white wire and the middle black wire. (the two closed to top edge). Bottom another black wire is the middle pin of the pot.

ut is not a problem, it is you who are wrong. think about it. you PUSH UP a window and you Pull Diwn a window.... you pull down on a rope , you pull down on a branch....... you need to get your brain working correctly.. you pull down on a rope, you do not push arope do you / so your finger pulls the wheel tothe lft, this means it is pulling down... its pretty clear in the normal world... oh and by the way We FLY drones we do not fry them... and you have CLIPS holding the case not crips.........
There is no absolute right or wrong way, just personal preference. Everyone lives in their own professional world and may understand things differently. The point is DJI should make this SW selectable, like the joysticks. Oh btw, you may blame RUclips AI that generates the CC.
