| Boryeong, Korea, June 20, 2019 - Korea claimed a third victory in the 2019 women's FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Thursday in their final match in week 5 by defeating Poland 3-1.
Poland captain Agnieszka Kakolewska: "In today’s game, players that previously did not have many chances to play were able to gain some experience on the court which was important for those players. Since our goal was to end up in the final six, it was important to give less experienced players a chance to play despite taking the loss today."
Poland player Julia Nowicka: "Today was a good experience for me because when I was younger I grew up admiring Kim Yeon-Koung. Especially for us young players, we took this game as an important chance to improve and gain more match experience."
Poland player Magdalena Stysiak: "Today’s match was a very good learning experience. Of course in some games we play well and in some games we don’t. We are also happy that we met our main goal of reaching the final six."
Korea coach Stefano Lavarini: "Today’s game was a good one although the Polish players had a different approach to the game compared to that of the Korean team. The Polish players’ approach was to give the younger and less experienced players more match experience, while ours was to utilize every opportunity we have to improve. Also I am glad that the communication between me and the players is getting clearer. I feel as if we are beginning to speak the same language of volleyball."
Korea captain Kim Yeon-Koung: "Although we didn’t have many wins until now, we are proud and happy about our two wins in Korea. We did well in the first set as we put in our serves well. In the second set, we took the flow of the game and raised the tempo of the game. Also I think we were able to take the victory today thanks to Pyo Seung-ju."
Korea player Lee Juah: "I feel like the game was much easier thanks to the players on our team and I put faith in my teammates and believed in them as we played. Since it’s my first VNL, I feel like I’m getting much more experience."
Korea player Pyo Seung-ju: "Throughout the VNL, it was hard for us players as we did not have that many victories, but that changed as we earned our two wins in Korea. I hope we can bring forth better results through the strategies and tactics coach Stefano recommends."
