  • A new season is here so that means it's time for a spring capsule wardrobe switchover and closet organization! Every season I like to declutter, clean and re-organize my wardrobe where I put away my winter pieces and start to bring out my items for spring. If you're doing this for the first time, I'm showing you how I do this step-by-step, so it's easy and fun every time you go to build your own seasonal capsule wardrobe, or if you're just in need of a good wardrobe refresh and declutter.

I change my whole wardrobe for summer/spring and than fall/winter.Than I declutter things that are demaged, don't fit or I didn't wear at all.And than I also decide about things from new season that I wasn't sure about last year if I want to keep them or declutter anything that doesn't fit anymore.

I also go through my closet periodically and I put things that I don’t find myself wearing into a box and keep them…for a long time before I go through the box and donate locally. I also find that at times I actually reach for the things I’ve put away and am glad I didn’t give them away.

Yes, I can relate to this. I also have fairly predictable weight fluctuations depending on the time of year and health issues, so I know that I will come back to certain pieces which are too big or too small at the moment.

Christina, just wanted to let you know that I am someone who loathes the idea of a capsule wardrobe, but I have still learned SO much from your videos. The next time someone tells you that your clothes are "boring" (I saw a previous video where you addressed comments like these) or makes a comment like "but I don't want to dress like you," please feel free to refer them to my comment lol. The strategies you teach for decluttering, living mindfully, and curating a wardrobe that you love are applicable to literally everyone. I am on a road toward a less cluttered and happier life thanks to many of your videos.
P.S. Not sure if they have this in Canada, but OxyClean stain spray is the BEST. I had an old grease stain in one of my fav pairs of old sweatpants, and it took it out like it was never there.

I’m so thankful for your excellent content about fashion and money management. Both things that I love, very difficult to pair together! My wardrobe reset is coming about with expecting my third child 😅 a lot of my clothing is going away for a few seasons, and just a small minimal collection is coming out for the spring/summer and fall months. It has definitely been very effective for curbing my shopping habits! I don’t know what my body will look like and how it will change just yet between fitness and pregnancy shape changes (shoes especially!) so I took a hard stop to several years of over shopping with nothing but the debt with interest… and clothes I can’t wear 😅🤦🏼‍♀️. With that, I am not decluttering anything at the moment, and until I am settled into my new body post baby. So I essentially decided to declutter into storage. I still went through the clothing I had last spring/summer to evaluate what I actually did wear and what I still want to wear now. I ended up filling three trash bags to take to my local clothing exchange shop! Al things that aren’t my style; favorites of my previous self. The next step is to change my money, habits to pay down the debt. It was very exciting to pull out, my warm, season clothing, and go through it again. I really didn’t feel as thrilling as shopping. But I still have so, so much. Probably enough to close five people very comfortably… for each season… so I will definitely be taking some time to start whittling my storage down some more as I get better acquainted with my true style.

Lately I noticed I dislike it a bit more every time I wear or see it. I want to declutter them but it feels scary. Am I the only one who feels like this?

Here's what I've done with various things like this in the past: put it in a storage bin, out of sight/out of mind, and see how it goes. If in another six months you just kinda forgot about it or you see you're never going to use that again, it's fine then to get rid of it. But if in six months you actually go to the storage bin and rescue it and start wearing it again, put it back where it was! I'm guessing you'll put it out of sight/out of mind (if you're like me) and never think of it again. And then it's time to clear out the storage bin and donate it.

I hear ya! You’re probably just craving a bit of a change. I’d put it in storage, maybe leave your favourite one out in case you feel like you wanna reach for it, and let yourself experiment with some other vibes while the flannels take a “vacation” ❤️

Can you, please, show in one of your new videos or posts what is your shoe care routine.
Also I always see you and other bloggers keeping shoes for new season in their wardrobe next to clean clothes while they are clean and unworn but I was wondering is this where frequently worn shoes stay all the season? In my case, it would be very impractical either to wash the sole after every wear or to bring possibly wet and dirty shoes back where all clean clothes hang so I keep shoes next to halfway. I would love to know the approach you take.
    Cheers!

Hi Christina, this was fun to watch. I like that you don't follow the rules of "have I worn this in 6 months" but just rather, if you like it, keep it. Also to start with the framework of "what am I keeping" rather than "what am I getting rid of" - a more positive approach! Can I ask what tank top you are wearing in your video? I am struggling to find one that doesn't cut in but where the straps are just straight. I am kind of fussy with my bra showing and I find so many tanks cut in because its a racer back.
