We are all Ruth. Foreigners, not worthy, and it was Jesus who covered us and extended his mantle. This story makes me cry and be grateful for God's love for us.
When I became pregnant🤰🏼 (out of wedlock) I felt called to go to ⛪️ church and during my pregnancy I decided my son would call my Best friend “Auntie Ruth” because of her Faithfulness ✝️ to walk with me during this life shaking time 💥 ... and I continue to Love the Book of Ruth. God’s faithfulness is more real then I even knew when I was walking through a beautiful & tragic time of my life. Thank you for the reminder 💓 My son has been the weaving that brought me to my knees & ultimately God.
Here I am just another immigrant, heavily trialed, broken, years of pain and trauma like Naomi telling for the longest time, known by all as MARA.... per grace finally brought back and the bible project God's tool to quench my thirst, shed light inside, comfort, inspire, heal. I don't know who you are humble Tim Mackie but boy oh boy where He found you, how he rescued you and how truly He has filled you up to the rim with His Holy Spirit to be such powerful tool to spread His word to the world. Thank you and your partners for obeying and trusting Him, for enduring and fighting, standing strong against any and all difficulties that I am sure you guys had to face to get here. Don't give up! To our precious Father, Son and Holy Spirit ALL THE GLORY, honor and praise for the result.
@Tim Mackie Archives (curator) - I just want to take the time to say *Thank you* for your efforts in putting together all of these videos on your channel. I, like yourself, am gaining much knowledge and enjoyment in Tim's teaching and in the videos from The Bible Project. The Lord's blessings to you!
This way of "reading" Ruth is unforgettable. Wow. For us who are visual this is pretty awesome! Thank you for the many ways you allow God to use you to teach us!!!
This is now my favorite Bible story. This is such a creative Bible reading--making the little story of Ruth come alive to reveal a big message. If we try to understand the context and the cultural background, it's really a very interesting and exciting story. This can generate substantial discussion.
I like the way Tim Mackie teaches. Even a five year old video is a perfect fit for me right now because I just finished learning about the book of Ruth on my own. I got a lot more out of Tim's lesson for sure. Thank you!
Today is March 18, 2021 and today is my Ruth reading in the BibleProject read through of the Bible. So I watched the book overview of Ruth and found this Ruth presentation. And, coincidentally, this presentation just happened to have taken place on a March 18 (don't know the year). really excellent.
Amazingly put, you are talented, l like how you give us a bigger picture from a ‘small picture’ from a small book, absolutely amazing. Love it, love it. Love it. I am teaching on Ruth tomorrow and this has been an eye opener. Thank you.
Hi from Slovakia Tim, I fell in love with your work in The Bible Project and also here. Can I find somewhere other episodes from this serie about Ruth, Gedeon... Thanks, God bless you
Please can you tell me where to find the whole serie? P.S. thank you so so kuch. I'll guide the study of the book of Ruth with the women group in my church, and this, will help me so so so much
Notice throughout the book that Boaz refers to Ruth as being young enough to be his daughter, and commends her for not dating men her own age. From a bit of maths, if Ruth got married in Moab at the age of 20, she's about 35 in this story. Boaz is about 60.
The conclusion: "The never-ending story of the Bible offers or is open to us to be part of it; Through the Lord Christ, we're weaved into the story of God love for humanity."
From the Bible, the closest ages of those married was the 10 years between Abraham & Sarah. (Despite what _many_ preachers claim, they were not a "childless couple". Both Hagar & Kenturah proved Sarah had fertility problems, not Abraham.) In most marriages in the Bible where ages are mentioned or inferred, the man is usually 40 years older than the woman. Mary and Joseph are a classic example. Joseph died when Jesus was 16. His wealthy Uncle Joseph of Arimothea (only the nearest relative could claim a corpse off a Roman cross) was himself a member of Parliament (hence his direct connection to Pilate), whose extreme wealth came from his shipping businesses of importing tin from southern England (Israel's tin mines had been exhausted, and tin is an alloying element needed to make bronze).
Regarding the "sketchy scene" in the third part, I remember reading somewhere that the Biblical Hebrew word for "feet" could be-and was-sometimes used as a euphemism for "genitals", and that that was likely the case here. Is that true? And what is the significance of Ruth laying at/uncovering Boaz's feet, in whatever sense?
Notice from reading God's good laws, that the kinsman redeemer does *NOT* have to be single to inherit more wives when he buys back land leased until the Jubilee year. Likewise notice again from God's good laws, that a dead man's brother does NOT need to be single to inherit his brother's widow (as ratified by Jesus in the discussion with the Sadducees about the 7 brothers who all died and the 1st brother's widow is protected by the next brother). Modern Christian concepts of marriage are not Biblical.
In the genealogy of Jesus there are 4 women mentioned (apart from his mum): Tamar (who seduced Judah) Rahab (who seduced half of Jericho) Ruth (who seduced Boaz (who probably already had a number of wives)) Bathsheba (who seduced David by her dragging her bath outside to the garden, putting blazing lamps around it and giving David a seductive strip tease show in the suds) But as Bathsheba was married when she decided to commit adultery with a higher status man than her husband, her name is not put in Jesus' genealogy. But the other seductresses who took sexual initiative are honoured by God. Lessons for *SINGLE* women:- 1) seduce a man you want (don't wait for him to notice you, he's got more important things on his mind) 2) it doesn't matter if he's already with several women, you can join him too. (Read Gideon's story carefully, 2nd Chronicles 24:2, Jeremiah 3, Isaiah 4:1, Revelation 2 & 3)

Brilliant. Really amazing book.
More! More! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Fun fact: Orpah was the mother of Goliath. So David’s great grandma and Goliath’s mother were once sisters-in-law.
Really! How did you come by this piece of fun fact!
thats only from rabbinic literature and therefore is not a fact
@@dennisdatu6464 how can you say with certainty that one piece of Ancient literature than another piece of Ancient literature?
I'm not sure about that! An actual fun fact... Oprah Winfrey's actual first name is Orpah.
Oh really?
Edifying, thanks for this lectures.
Great metaphor. This is amazing!
Brilliant! ✝️

It was the custom.

I'm going to ask, cause noone else will: hair dye?
This was Tim almost six years ago... My how time flies and colors change.
No, Ruth did not dye her hair!!!
I'm the guy who hides his one talent and then gets thrown outside to wail and knash his teeth
