I did it yesterday, first time I've struggled with an approach in a very long time, not even LOWI compares, only similar approaches I can think of are KEGE and TFFJ
there is surprisingly a lot of aircraft noise for closed airport at weekend. I is closed for a half a day on Saturday and few hours Sunday morning only
The simulator tech in the back of the sim is the one acting as atc. I think him attempting his best Dick Van Dyke cockney accent would too distracting.
@@mtcytb Nope. Jet that i know that fly into the city all have additional aural callout that call you to start flare at around 100ft RA. The callout start when approaching 100ft RA, saying, "Standby, standby", and shortly after reaching 100ft RA it will say, "Flare! Flare!". It's not an advisory callout, but more like a command. Failure to follow that instruction will probably result in a nasty hard landing, so yeah, not possible.
London City Airport. Great so convenient. Wish I could fly there from Bremen. Used to be able to but then Crap Ryanair started to fly to Stansted so no more flights to LCY. You have to fly via Frankfurt or Munich with Lufthansa at rip off prices. You can fly KLM to via Amsterdam but getting your luggage back is a problem KLM is crap for that.
Planes also need certifying to land at City. The biggest currently certified is the Airbus A318. That plane is some sort of MD-10/11, much bigger than an A318 and therefore illegal to fly into City. Also, it’s a Localiser, not a Locator; the QNH is not given on final; and the Director is pronounced “Temms”, not “Thaymes”
That was horrible! No announcement of intention to continue at decision height. No attempt to go around when it was clear the landing was going to be very long. Scary if this happened in a real aircraft.

2:07 it's pronounced "Temms", not "Thaymes" (River Thames)
Really interesting and awesome episodes! great job!
Not realistic at all, there is no way the Thames river or Docklands harbor is anywhere near to resembling blue.
Can guarantee you it is realistically modelled - remember that the water colour will change depending on the seasons & time of day too
@@SloppySalad yea nah. Its never blue of any hue.
If you think the Thames is blue you need to go to specsavers.
Who cares as long as you land safely
@@mark-ish LOL - Thames is a lovely shade of shit brown. Awesome in the summertime.
Amazing approach ! Who esle is going to try it in Xplane after watching this vid?😅
hi OWO
No one, cause we're all using P3D.

You would need to do one on Toncontin in Tegucigalpa, Honduras...
London City Airport is also shut for most of the weekend starting from Noon on Saturday

I flew in to City once. Didn't even realise the approach was steeper.
It was a great approaching, but I think at the time in touch on ground the plane has been slightly bounced....In my opinion!!!
I can see them taking off from this airport from my house. They go up very steeply.
ATC needs to do a British accent to make it more realistic

You could make a video about Congonhas and Santos Dumont both Brazilian airports.
Congonhas is an aircraft carrier
@@AlonsoRules Congonhas is an airport in São Paulo.
Could you let the ILS get you down to about 50 feet before disengaging autopilot? That'd do for me.
I'm not sure what the limitation is for autopilot at LCY, but I could have left it on longer. I just prefer to hand fly when possible.

City airport is very congested
I fly from there often !
It's a crap airport
Why do you keep saying "locator" is that an American saying for localiser or am I missing something?
Adam McVeigh Locator is the American phrase for what we call Beacon in Europe.
I am not a pilot but I love making the approach in vr,xp11.

Pretty sure you can not fly over the shard like that
Pilot that flies out of there, he says no go-arounds most of the time. Also if it didn't exist, it wouldn't get built now.
good job
If I win the lottery , I got to get one of these
That looks like a heavy landing. Might have damaged the nose gear I think.
