    When Ganon dialed it's not fun to watch. It almost seems like he isn't even trying and and it's going in from 80 period when Macbeth dominated it looked like he was giving every throw all he had Gannon makes it look too easy 😊

    I knew Paul as a teenager. He has always had the arrogance of a champion. That type of arrogance in sport is captivating. Gannon is an amazing talent but he's nonchalant and boring to watch.

    The PGA Tour was the most popular when Tiger Woods was dominating and people loved watching it. Same when Michael Jordan was winning everything. I disagree about it wasn't exciting... Josh hit it on the head...if you don't appreciate the skill level we are seeing. Ricky was behind by 3 for a long time and if Gannon had one mistake it could have been 1 in an instance...he doesn't miss. We are witnessing an amazing talent.

    While his season is possibly the best of all time, all the talk of Gannon winning the 4 dgpt+ events as some sort of sweep is a little silly. The 2 "playoff" events are 4 rounders as well and are worth more in dgpt points I think. To me there are 3 rounders, 4 rounders, and 5 rounders. I don't care what they call them or if they have a "Major" designation. Strength of field and number of rounds is what matters. He's been amazing but I don't care about him winning all the DGPT+ events.

      I don't think they were defending the guy in this podcast. What I took from their conversation is the problem is proving intent in cases like this. I've seen the same thing happen with home contractors, they take $$$ for a home remodel and don't follow thru. To charge the person criminally Police/Prosecutors have to have evidence they intended to steal your money and not do the job, not that they are just shitty contractor(or TD in this case).

    I own a small disc golf company, and MVP has made me love selling their products. Not only do they have great players promoting their brand, but they also purposefully only sell special runs, stamps, and team stamps on their own site, while retailers get the stock products as well as some special edition discs. Other manufacturers, e.g. Discmania, Dynamic Discs, and Prodigy, not only sell stock items directly but often run huge sales that retailers can’t compete with. As a small retailer, this leaves a bad taste, so I stock and sell fewer of their discs. Instead, I’m focusing more on pushing MVP out into the community, which I believe is making a positive impact. Discraft takes a similar approach to MVP to a lesser extent. Manufactures should take notes

    Kristin Tattar was the first player to reach $100K in tournament prize money earnings and previously held the record for the most money earned in a single season, with $116,247. Gannon Buhr has now broken that record and currently stands at $127,132, with several big events still to play.

    Man I love you guys but it was really hard to listen to you guys during that TD situation segment. The player base got badly burned, not the TD who blamed personal medical reasons for his misappropriation (possibly theft) of 26k of the players money.

  • @iheartdiscgolf

    Let's say Kristin goes to MVP, Lat64 would still survive because of the European market. DD without Ricky is done, he is the only person that holds that company up, most of their molds are pretty forgettable. Innova will always be at or near the top because they sell to Walmart, Dick's, etc. MVP is becoming the #1 brand in disc golf and it isn't because of who they have signed. It is their plastic, people like the feel, the way it flies, and the ability to switch between plastics of the same mold and know that plasma might be more stable where electron or fission would be more understable. I would argue Kasta is kinda in that same category, people like Kasta because of the plastic not Joey Buckets.

  • @stephenfrancais

    I’m not sure how this points to a “challenge of being a TD” when the guy had a full event with waitlist participants. The issue was not that his tournament has become less successful post Covid, the issue is that he was spending tournament funds on vending fees and medical bills. It’s fair to say the the lack of disc sales while he was vending is what caused part of the issue, but it’s more so the not working through the winter that seems to have screwed him over. Hope the guy can recover but it’s been odd to see everybody in the good old boys club rationalize his mistakes in various ways. Expected better from this show tbh. Stuff like this will continue to hold our sport back.

    Regarding the PDGA magazine, it hasn't been about whether people wanted it. It's been about the advertisers paying enough to make it a net positive, which is what they have said for years. Maybe that isn't the case anymore but they have fielded barrages of accusations of wasting membership dollars while saying the magazine has made money. I think the issue here is that advertisers were wrong to assume people were reading the magazine.

    • @stephenfrancais
      @stephenfrancais 7 дней назад

      I have doubts that those advertising dollars would go away with the magazine, rather they could just be moved somewhere else. Would love to see an a tier get a title sponsor rather than a company taking a magazine ad out.

    A more telling number for the PDGA than current membership would be number of players participating in events and total events run. They may get far more revenue from events than membership fees. Or they may have during the boom.

    Boys - Definitely no Paul nor Paige Fanboy but honestly ya’ll are trippin if you think Paul and Paige only get 2 or less. Paul played some top golf this season. 2nd at Music City, Swedish Open, European Disc Golf Festival and a 3rd at a major w the European Open. And clearly he has some other things taking some of his attention: wife and newborn, foundation, etc. Boyz - a NEWBORN with limited sleep and major life change. You know why Paul most likely by himself exceeds 2 more wins is because he is a dawg. He is Kobe and MJ mindset. That guy will eventually walk off into the sunset but if his body is there his mind will do everything possible to get some more Ws. Plain and simple. As far as Paige - she won Portland this year which was a + event. FPO field is not nearly as stacked and many times when say Europeans go back home and skip a leg or few events in states field is halved as far as talent. So to say she won’t get another win or two to go with Paul’s possible wins is just bad take. Again Paige has at times taken foot off gas for sure but she’s coming back from injury and I bet she steps game back up next year. Over under 2.5 - I’ll take that over boys especially considering each pro has another 3-5 competitive years left in them a piece. No doubt. Cheers

    The 2 playoff events are 4 round events also. They are weighted the same (or higher?) than DGPT+ and are harder to get into.

    Kristin is still the clear number 1. 5 wins in 12 events. Not as dominant as last year of course, but looking at the season she has the lowest average finish by a good stretch, has the most wins, and has the least starts of anyone else close. Her 5 wins in 12 events is far more impressive than, for example, Holyn with 3 wins out of 18 events. No doubt she isn't playing as well as last year but still the clear number 1. Still just her in the player of the year conversation. To my mind.

      Some thoughts in addition -- 1) KT had a rip-injury (her own fault), which takes some effort to regain previous body-shape. 2) former has certain impact on one`s mental game as well. As e.g. KT last rounds at 2nd major and Great Lakes (and Worlds). She just can`t play better right now, despite having three 1000+ rounds at last events in USA. So, it is not about winning for her, but about regaining form and confidence for the next season.

    As far as McBeth "hanging it up". I can't imagine he'll be hanging it up anytime soon with that contract. I seriously doubt they gave him 10 million for 10 years without some clauses about him needing to play a certain amount of pro tour events. He's making a lot of money and he can probably make most of the contract money as long as he is out there playing. Even if he doesn't win. Doubt he's gonna turn down that money.

      @justbrowsing5279 12 дней назад

      Frankly, if Gannon can win even one more tournament (all 4 rounders), he's got POY for me. I just don't place undue importance on events that have an M next to them when it's the same field and same number of rounds. Worlds was 5 yes so that helps Isaac but the luck factor at Roll Away Hill hurts him. The only knock on Gannon is that he isn't capable of throwing within 30 seconds and he cheats with OB lines. Clearly the best player though. Wish he would just play within the rules. He'd still be the best.
