After years playing a violin, I still dont know the correct heigh, and no one is talking about this. All this time, my chin has to squeeze the violin so that it doesnt fall. I'm never be able to let loose the finger board during playing, because it will fall. Could you explore more the correct posture, how should it be?

I just pressure wash mine while I'm doing the car and cat. Works just fine. 🤣😎

My difficulty is that I’m a small person and my hands are very small so it’s hard to replicate the holds I see in videos.

Woulnt mind a cinversation about the correct type of rubber band and the required tension. Can an O ring be used? Or is it too tight? Is the band left on the bow? Etc. Great stuff Eric! Are those natural rubber or butyl? Do you leave it on? Must it be on end of bow? Can a side ousted band work t? How many mm of forward tilt? Does band pull back on hand? Is pinky supposed to nest in front of screw? Is this accepted in symphony orchestra?😅

I am going back to your rubber band technique. I remember my tone improved when I did this band technique. Your a genius Eric, so cool so simple and comfortable the seat belt for the ring finger! I have been playing ones closing the door. Ive about got it except for timing with a metronome. Im using your idea for luster tone if I can find my rubber band. Thank you again! I preferred the EQ flat, Comp dyna, and no reverb. All the reverb setting sounded like way too much. But maybe a custom reverb making it extremely minimal might be ok.

I agree! Probably need to season in the new ill canone strings. I'll be real honest. My Eva Pirazzi greens are 3/4 of a year old. The A is becoming unwound.at the.nut but I can play a concerto intermixed with London Bridge is Falling Down and it sounds like Sara on Dark Shadows! It's eery how I miss judged the longevity of these great strings. I'm just a beginner with a 40 year layover from 1970; and I gave up to soon and before the miracle happened. Eric I admire your quick left hand fingerings! ITS amazing. Maybe some day I will try the solo I'll Canone, however as my mother wisely told me; when you find something that works you stay with it. I'm flabbergasted these ordinary green label Eva Pirazzis are almost a year old. True, I don't practice every day but when I need them there there for me. I'm perfectly happy with the E string too!. I run a tiny piece of chamois under the E and A strings as the A tends to be a little garish and the E likes to cut into my bridge. Thank you for testing the I'll canone by Larsen. For so many years I had to be content with silver wound gut but once there broken in and for me it's taken longer than 3 months, these Evas are a hot little tart! Thanks Eric I don't mean to diss your Larsens! But in the card game of strings I like to stand pat! Yours very truly ce. Usa.😅

Im a luthier. Just my two cents on using peg dope-- often when someone has otherwise usable pegs that they've doped up to smithermeens, they'll complain about sticky or ornery pegs. I clean more Hill paste off than I apply it. When I make a brand new set of pegs, I apply a little bit of Hill to check that Ive achieved good contact around the entire fit, but that's it. Well-fit pegs in a properly prepared peg hole should not need much lubrication. If your pegs are that troublesome, you need them fitted properly or cleaned and re-fit, not doped further. The Wittner geared pegs are perfectly fine. I've installed them on several instruments for arthritic clients, and they're excellent for elders who play cello-- cello pegs hurt *my* wrists, and I'm not even 30. Just get them fitted by a luthier who knows what they're doing.

My intonation is the best when my chin rest is taller and more to the side. I recently switched to an SAS, and then lowered my Khun shoulder rest a little.

I use Dominant Pro strings. I also use Leatherwood Bespoke Crisp rosin with them. I perform in small county towns in Australia and am no longer working as a professional. The combination of the Dominant Pro and Crisp rosin provides a massive improvement in tone and dynamic range that my audiences have noticed. I tend to use a very light french bow with this setup which might help avoid the issues you found.

Aaaaaahhhhhh! This is frustrating because you play this exactly the way I did in high school. The lady that commented saying you could be more in tune if you practiced this section as double stops is 100% correct. The other thing to do is focus on hand position and relative finger placement. Slow it down, get the fingering totally solid, then do this again.
