Excellent video, Eric!
Thanks! You can do a video with the steps to accelerate some difficult fast passages/pieces? please we need that jajaj
Thank you!
Thanks, will keep in mind
Let me know how it goes!
I have a question perhaps you can address. Is it common to have certain notes in 5th position on the A string, have an edgy sound, or even make the bow want to waver....having to be extremely careful with the bow position, angle etc.? And the note on either side of the difficult note, be just fine, needing no special care? This has been super frustrating. My violin is very resonant, quality vintage violin but has this issue. Just wondering if this is common or not?
I also have a really junkie fiddle that doesn't have this issue at all, yet it lacks tone quality and doesn't project.
Hi Eric, good to see a new video from you. I have a question : is TONE the same as what my teacher calls ' the CORE ' sound the violinist tries to achieve with each note? A kind of perfection of each note?
I would say so, yes!
So many times I'm telling my students to lift their knuckles to fingeboard-level or slightly above... and instead they end up doing the wildest acrobatics with their wrist xD I swear to Joseph Joachim, they're mocking me xD
It’s like subconsciously they’re doing it to agitate us haha
My personal teacher agrees. If I don’t have good rhythm and intonation, I might as well hang it up.
yes and no, because rhythm and intonation are learnt and practiced mostly away from the instrument, so you could be trying to achieve those but in reality you should hang it up and explore how to master them first
some tips to explore: rythm = body gesture, intonation = sing tones and semitones

My intonation 💀💀💀
I'm helpless.
