The Hopeful Angler
Великобритания
Добавлен 17 ноя 2007
Fishing videos of my trips out with a rod and line. I've been fishing for as long as I can remember and began kayak fishing in 2004, although kayak fishing has been my biggest passion I now find myself fishing more from my SIB (Soft Inflatable Boat). Fly fishing for trout in wild places is also something I enjoy along with catching Cod,Pollock,Coalfish,Mackerel and anything else that comes along while I'm out afloat in either kayak or SIB (Soft Inflatable Boat).
The channel began way back as a means to get kayak fishing trip videos embedded into the kayak fishing UK forums as part of catch reports, since the upsurge in Facebook groups the forums are no longer but I still enjoy sharing my experiences and making videos of my fishing trips.
We also have an allotment, where as well as growing fruit and veg, we keep around 40 chickens, there is always a battle keeping on top of pests so the odd rat control videos may appear So please enjoy and like and subscribe if you do.
Thanks.

On the Trout at Knitsley Mill - 4K.
This was a morning session at Knitsley Mill Trout Fishery in Co. Durham. It was the only chance I had this week for any fishing!.
I managed to catch on a small olive lure on an intermediate line, then I changed to a floater and a small daddy longlegs and got a fish on this. It was hard going I only saw one other angler catching fish so I was quite happy.
I hope you enjoy.

Tynemouth to Whitburn - SIB Fishing. A difficult day with the wind picking up from the west and pushing the boat across the tide, even using the drogue didn't help correct it enough. I tried various spots and even dropped the anchor and fished downtide, I kept plugging away and managed to avoid a blank. Chris www.youtube.com/@chrisdavison2022 managed a Haddock and a Codling and Alan also got a ...

SIB Fishing UK - Epic Farne Islands Fishing Adventure, in compnay with Chris www.youtube.com/@chrisdavison2022 This trip stood out as another red letter day as the fishing just got better and better. I was catching fish from 7 feet deep to 70 feet deep on soft plastics and metals. Coalfish, Pollock, Wrasse, Launce, Mackerel and Codling all featured on the day, in one of the biggest tides of the...

SIB Fishing UK - Epic Farne Islands Adventure. What a trip out this was in company with Chris Davison youtube.com/@chrisdavison2022?si=5_iC6uMpIhZ_Mmd- .The day started with barely a breath of wind and a glassy sea as we motored North from Beadnel to the Farne Islands. It felt like an age for the tide to start flooding but once it did, WOW! the fishing was fantastic with Coalfish and Pollock fa...
A Carp from the Lillies

Join me for a short session at a local pond after I've recently dusted off my old coarse fishing gear. I'm a bit rusty to say the least but I managed to winkle out a Bream and a Carp as I try to get my head around things again after a long time away from this type of fishing. The plan was to fish the method feeder (which is quite new to me) and then try for a fish off the top on floating dog bi...
Hot Smoked Mackerel in a Home-made Smoker
Просмотров 2755 месяцев назад
One of the ways Ilike to eat mackerel is to hot smoke it, it tastes lovely and the flavour can be varied by changing the brine mixture. There are lots of containers that can be used as a smoker or you can just buy a purpose made smoker, but me being me I like to reuse things. I need to come up with a better rack and ways to have racks stacked above each other. Any suggestions are welcome.

One man and his dog go Fly Fishing for Trout.

One man and his dog go Fly Fishing for Trout, we went to Derwent Reservoir in search of trout on the fly. I used to fish this water a lot back in the day and also from boats as they used to have them back then. Things are a bit different these days with an obvious head of perch and pike, I ended up catching more perch than trout and I could see several very small fingerling size pike in the wat...

SIB Fishing UK - A Hard Day North of the Tyne to South of the Tyne. The day started off badly with a damaged bolt on my trailer hitch, but with Grahams help we did a repair job good enough for the return trip home. I lost the sound on most of the clips so didn't use them, but we did catch fish even though the sea lifted and made things a bit bumpy. We launched from the Tyne and fished around St...

Tynemouth to Wearmouth SIB Fishing UK. The fishing was slow on this trip I was chasing my tail going from spot to spot trying to find fish. I had a look around the piers at Sunderland at the damage caused by storm Babet, no sign of any repair work though! South Shields Pier also damaged in the storm had contractors repairing it. I went out to a wreck and managed a drift or two over it for one W...

Hello. An amazing and careful setup. Clearly you are a thoughtful chap. May i please ask what battery setup you are using for the fish finder?
Hello and thankyou 🤝. If you check out the link for this video at 2:12 it’s shows the battery type and where it is in the box 😎👍. ruclips.net/video/uuC8rakpKSM/видео.htmlsi=FQf9x_V3xQgnx0fR
How many knots of wind?
I’m not sure what speed it was
Wow handles decent chop
love your videos what type of boat have you got please
Hi thanks 😃. My boat is a Truekit Discovery 330 I got it here truekit.net/en-gb
@ Thank you, I’m just looking the Truekit up now, would you rate them above the standard inflatable like the Hydrus from inflatable boat fishing ?
@@SeanOBrien-qr7yn I can’t compare to be honest, it’s the first inflatable I’ve had, the quality does seem good and it’s very stable on the water. A couple of things to bear in mind is that there is an import duty into the UK of around £400 which I didn’t expect and also if you do decide to get one make sure you get the new raised transom model, they changed the transom to an aluminium one which is stronger but it was around 2 inches lower than the old one which caused drag from there being to much outboard leg in the water, a lot of Truekit owners myself included raised their transoms to stop this, Truekit have now raised the transoms on their boats !
@ Thanks for taking the time to give me this information , much appreciated Keep up the good work 👍
@@TheHopefulAngler Hi Hope you don’t mind me asking Iv never fished Beadnell but hoping to go this year, where’s the best place to launch from ? Thank you Seán
On the verge of buying a true kit myself still deciding on what outboard to buy what sort of a run are you getting from your Suzuki outboard motor would appreciate your feedback
Hi, I don’t have the Suzuki anymore, I changed it this year for a Mariner 15hp EFI. I had to many problems with the Suzuki, there was a recurring issue with the pull start and being a carburettor model it had issues running and starting due to modern petrol ie the amount of ethanol in it. After having the 9.9hp and now a 15hp I would definitely recommend going 15hp though so much better and not that much heavier. I’m not sure where you are but one thing to bear in mind is that there is around £400 import duty for the Truekit into the UK.
The place is a fucking duck pond. With a garden pond fountain in the middle . When I first saw it I burst out laughing. Iv no idea how anyone takes it seriously. It’s weapons grade shit.
Each to the their own I like it.
@ true of course. But most people I meet in the real world agree the place is weapons grade shit. And that PBs caught there shouldn’t count, because it’s not a proper fishery.
I feel the same way!!! Amazing views!!! Where is this
Hi, thanks it was off Seaham North East UK 👍
Nice mornings fishing mate 👍🎣
Cheers mate a bit hard going but avoided a blank 🤣
Wayne it's a shame there not alot of fish about good video 😢
Cheers Davey 👍😎
Hi Wayne and Dexter , better luck next time xxx
Hopefully next time will be soon 👍
Great video - where about did you launch from? The last time I was there they had bollards blocking sibs from the main car park - is it free? I only seem to have Beadnell as a free launch available 365/7 days a week in the area
Hi thanks 👍 I have 4x4 pick up, on this trip I drove the SIB on its trailer down to the waters edge then parked up in the main carpark. Are you talking about the bollards at the bottom of the footpath that leads down from the carpark?
@@TheHopefulAngler yeah thats the one - as beadnell is grand to unpack the sib, inflate and wheel down. Didn't seem possible here - or many other places locally
If you head back out of the carpark and turn immediately left you can drive down the bank and set up at the side of the road opposite the play park then take your car back up to the carpark. However it’s a nightmare to get over the soft sand with transom wheels
@@TheHopefulAngler champion cheers marra, looking forward to the next vid! Hopefully some good cod kicking about after this spell of strong northerlies
No problem, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an opportunity to get out 🎣👍
What VHF radio are you using, thanks.
Hi, it’s a Standard Horizon HX270E. I’ve used it for a long time now I got it back in my kayak fishing days 👍
@@TheHopefulAngler thanks for that 👍
Cheers for the Cod curry tip BTW....! 😁👍
It’s the way forward 😋
Great video wayne loads of fish some big coalies you had a cracking day
Cheers Davey, aye it was a cracking day mate 😎🎣
Sniff Sniff... thats not your nose Wayne, it's me moaning that I'm not out with you both lol.. Cracking session bud and great footage again, can't wait for our next time out.. Fish On... 🎣🎣
🤣 cheers mate, yeah it can’t come soon enough
Another great video, great to see you both having a good day out, some lovely fish being caught. hope I meet up with both one day when I am fishing out of Beadnell. Take care.
Thanks it certainly was a day to remember 🎣 Yes that would be great 😎👍
Nice cod for Katie 😊😊
She’s already ate it 😃👍🎣
why ever did you put music on that?
Some day we had there wasn't it!? 😎
It was mate definitely one for the memory bank 🎣😎
@@TheHopefulAngler That's what RUclips is for!! 😎
Aye 🎣👍
Another great video wayne
Great video wayne plenty fish good sport
Cheers mate 😎🎣
Awesome session there and cracking footage again Wayne, absolutely gutted I couldn't get out with you and Chris on this day, dreamy weather and water 😢 Until next time though Bud 👍
Cheers mate, yeah we were definitely lucky. Hopefully our planets will align again soon and we can get out together again 🤞🎣😎
Pity about no Cod Wayne 😮
Fingers crossed for next time 🤞🎣
Looks good 👍 when did you get that weather? Last year? 🤣
🤣 we were very lucky
Nice fish Wayne 😏
Thanks 😃
Absolute belter of a day out there, im sure we'll all agree.. The music i love when were heading back together which makes it look racey.. I've done it in my vids and was pointed out from the session at "The Farnes" and that the sound of the engine would be better.. as you say, you cant please them all.. 😂 but keep em coming bud 👍🎣
Cheers mate 👍 yeah it was a cracking day and great memories 🎣😎
Never tried this type of fishing, I hear it's a bit more expensive than salt water fishing.. but not SIB 😂 Nice little vid again bud.. 👍
My mum will only have FRESH mackerel done on the BBQ... So... Is there much difference - if any, to fresh mackerel and frozen mackerel being smoked / BBQ'd..?
Both taste the same to me mate, I need to BBQ some just to double check 👍😀
Such innovation , well done Wayne 😊😊
@user-pl8gy7mt3d thanks 🙏
I mentioned in the description that I lost sound on a lot of my GoPro clips in fact nearly all of them, I was gutted, so I didn’t want to loose them altogether so did an intro to music with a small selection of them. Music is always difficult in editing especially when traveling out at sea as all you get is wind and engine noise, it’s hard to please everyone 🤣
Some trip that was!! Just a damn shame you lost some footage...
It certainly was mate, yeah gutted, it was in fact nearly all my GoPro stuff with some really good fish getting caught as well. But hey ho there’s always next time 🎣👍
What's this a music vid or a fishing vid ????
He hasn't got as much music as some do . Such a pet hate for me as ruins it . Still enjoyed the video . Some I'm forced to stop . The music drives me nuts 😂
What are those black bags on your handles for?
Hi, they are military canteen holders, I store my weights, lures etc in them.
Thanks Wayne!!!
Looks like a great time I love labs always dependable dogs just happy to be by your side
Yeah they’re just great all rounders, he walked up Cat Bells with us yesterday 😀
Little Dex looks nice and steady whilst you’re busy! I can’t do that with a spaniel 😂 Great vid as always 👍
Cheers mate, yeah he’s settled in nicely 😎
Feel partially to blame for the trailer Wayne, but glad its being fixed, ready for the next session at Newbiggin 😂. Another top video bud 👍🎣
Why not likely mate, it’s there to be used and plus I should have checked it over 🤦♂️. 🎣
Captain Dexter on the fish... great video again bud, see you out there soon 🎣🎣
Cheers mate, looking forward to it 😎👍
Cracking post mate! Dex looks very at home on the sib! Some decent fish too & those bloody gulls never fail to rock up as soon as the gutting knife is out!! 😂
Cheers mate, he’s settling in to Waynes world quite well bless him 😂
Surprised there's fish left at St Mary's due to the 'artificially' increased amount of seals there....
Hi.can you make video of your fishing gear, rods, lures, tackles please
Hi, yes next time I’m out I’ll put something together 👍
Is it free to launch at Seaham? Is there good access and parking? Cheers 🎣
Hi it’s around £130 a year plus an initial small admin fee for the key, the ramp is in the marina which is gated and has 24/7 security it is also well maintained but steep onto hard packed sand at low tide. It can be a bit awkward launching and landing in any swell. Access is good with parking but can get busy with day trippers and school trips etc. They will ask for proof of third party insurance when you apply.
Thanks very much 👍
Can’t see Roker Pier being opened for quite some time Wayne ? , informative video though , better fishing next time 😊😊
yeah it certainly doesn't seem high on the agenda!
What engine are you running?
It’s a Mariner 15hp EFI four stroke 👍
@@TheHopefulAngler ah nice! I've just been getting an Airdeck 310 with a Mariner 6hp 4 stroke. First boat :) Hopefully be able to get out this weekend, still looking for somewhere to launch though. I've put the kayak in on the beach between two piers at Sunderland, but I'm not sure if you're allowed to launch a motor craft there. Maybe I can just paddle out for a bit!
I used to launch the kayak there a lot and there is a sign saying no motorised craft. We aren’t blessed with launch spots in our area! Good luck when you get out 🎣
Have you ever thought about putting a bwit on the bottom after tope, hounds dogs or rays? And have you had many bass?
I’ve fished for rays etc in Scotland from the Kayak but not the SIB yet. I would like to catch Bass I should really go out and target them 👍
@@TheHopefulAngler yea theres a fair few in the north east these days
Definitely have to make a point of trying for them 🤞
Can you launch in Sunderland marine on the little beach next to the pier?
There is the yacht club ramp which I’ve seen used at the south end of the beach.
One of the ramps in Sunderland can't be used as there is a swans nest on it. It's all fenced off.
@JamesW81 yeah it is my thoughts are if they cleaned the mess up on a regular basis the swans wouldn’t have any nesting materials and choose another place! I’ve never thought it was well maintained for the money they charged! Apparently it may be getting built on as well.
Hi cousin. I know nothing about fishing. Are coley not good eating? I see it´s a type of pollock, and they are tasty. Fun video!
Hey Cuz 👋 nice to hear from you 😎 They are OK to eat but it all depends on your taste. Some people don’t like eating mackerel but I can’t get enough of them 😋
@@TheHopefulAngler Mackerel are good if absolutely fresh. At least there's no competition for them from your puppy.
🤣 he needs to get over it 🤣
Great video wayne nice calm day loads of fish
Great video wayne plenty of fish love the pup good fishing newbiggin
Cheers Davey looking forward to the next trip to Newbiggin, thanks again for your help 👍😎
Great if you've got a garage :D. Good job though, like it.
Nice one mate… looks like a decent day out! I’ve been busy catching rainbow wrasse in Greece 🇬🇷😎
Champion mate I take it it’s nice and hot ☀️
35c for most of the time! Almost too hot for the shallow fish… they head off to deeper water! 😅
What did we say...?! No one believes us when we say Newbiggin is an under rated mark.... That selection of fish proves that today... Well done you lot...👍
A lot going for it I’m looking forward to more trips 👍😎
