Sometimes working in production can seem like the odds are stacked against you and when you have to fight with a difficult carton, setting the machine up can feel like a fight. Once you have everything running, you can feel like a hero. Long ago, I had the idea to make a video like this, set to this song, and remember giggling at how amusing that would be. I made this video for no other reason ...

      depending on the structure of the carton, sometimes you can get away with running them backwards and turn the backfold into a header and use a finger. I've done that a few times, but just depends on what else you have to do to it. good luck!

    • @Oakhart76

      A minimum of 2, if the operator also acts as the feeder. Typically, there are 3-4. The operator who sets the machine up for each job, keeps it running and assures quality with scheduled checks. A feeder, who keeps the machine fed and 1-2 packers/catchers, depending on speed and whether or not you are hand-packing the job or machine-packing.

    Well that’s different. I’ve solved this problem by moving the right rail almost too the edge of the carton. Just enough to hold it while it’s coming down, and closing the gap between the belts to almost nothing. It may stick up a little until it hits the final fold, but there is enough of the top belt on it to keep it from popping back open.

    • @Oakhart76

    This is my first week with a new machine and no previous experience. Watching your videos gives me hope. Your setups are elegant and smooth. I have thousands of parts and hold downs available and seem to end up putting most of them on to force the cartons into submission. I keep referencing your vids to remind me that these jobs are possible. Thank you for the help. I still cant believe you use so few hold downs and it works flawlessly. You are awesome 😎

    • @Oakhart76
      @Oakhart76 5 месяцев назад

      I'm glad they help! Sometimes, you have to let the carton do what its going to do... sometimes you can use the carton's behavior to your advantage. I'll warn you now, you are going to get frustrated beyond belief sometimes and that is totally natural. also, remember that every great, seasoned operator will have that one make-ready once in a while that will totally kick their ass. It happens to EVERY one of us. best advice when I started was... when you get frustrated and everything you try fails, its time to walk away for a few minutes. go take a break, walk off for a second and calm down. Then think about what you tried that failed and what there is that you might be missing. in the beginning its tough because you don't know enough to know what you don't know, but if you keep trying and get too frustrated, you wind up working against yourself... which is why you take a break and collect your sanity. A lot of seasoned operators are gatekeepers of knowledge and that suck for newer operators... that's why I leave these vids on here, cause I know what its like! But keep your chin up and use everything good and bad as a learning experience. And once you get good, be willing to help others that come along. And always remember, tomorrow is a new day. Good luck my friend! p.s. Don't get into a speed competition. Some cartons want to run at a certain speed and there's nothing you can do about it. As long as they look like they're supposed to when the get to the end of the machine, that's what matters. Any jackass can speed the machine up, but a good operator will produce the quality that the customers are expecting.

    Sir, I am also running this machine, if it shows many errors in barcode in the display. can you tell me what happens

    • @Oakhart76
      @Oakhart76 6 месяцев назад

      Sometimes the color of the barcode will mess it up. If the barcode is too small of not clear or if some of it is missing, it can show errors. If the blanks were not registered when being die-cut or printed, it can cause the positionof the barcode to move slightly. Also make sure that the trigger eye and barcode scanner are reading the same carton at the same time. you may need to adjust the trigger eye so it reads the carton before the scanner reads the barcode. maybe slow the feed down so there is a bigger gap between cartons. Also, make sure the trigger eye is not being triggered by part of the machine (That happened to me a few times). Also very important to look at the cartons that are being ejected. Are they all the same die position? Of so, that means that those die positions were off register in die-cutting or printing. Take the bad ones and compare them to good ones and see if there are any differences. I hope that helps!
