People do exaggerate to some extent, but I would say as a tourist you come across more of the English speaking population than otherwise. I work at a Japanese company in Tokyo and the average English level in the office is lower than the average level in my class in middle school, in Sweden. Most 13-14 year olds in Sweden are better at English than most adults in Japan.

Being a foreigner definitely gives you an advantage. A lot of people in Tokyo (and especially Osaka) would approach me and speak to me even in broken English. Then they realize I know Japanese as well and start getting comfortable. Some have even exchanged LINE and IG with me. It's such a misconception saying that Japanese are all xenophobic, as if all Japanese are KKK equivalent in Japan

How sad…the orcas can probably see the ocean…freedom is right there. Don’t buy a ticket please. Don’t encourage enslaving one of earths, most intelligent and social beings, for our entertainment. Seeing something in a cage is never entertaining even if the cage is dressed up with a show were they doing mindless tricks repetitively until they die, which is decades sooner than they die in the wild. Some orcas and dolphins have even committed suicide in captivity. They separate calves from their mothers, they have incompatible orcas causing some orcas to be tortured for years, you can easily find sources on the Internet, where they have rake marks, blood there’s even a dolphin, right now that has a chunk taken out of his jaw, which is almost entirely gone and was ripped off by two other orcas… the stress of captivity and ignorance of putting together that don’t come from the same pod or species, even leads to sometimes even death… yes, orcas have died from fighting each other in captivity. This never happens in the wild though, because they have space to roam. We will look back one day and not imagine how we used to do this to any animals . The progress and wellness of a nation can be measured by the way that it treats its animals-ghandi Aquariums and zoos are barbaric . Just because they are normalized our society does not make it OK. It is imprisonment. The tanks also take away their ability to use sound and echolocation because of the nature of the tanks that are flat… It’s like being in a sensory deprivation tank, in addition to having nothing stimulating to do or look at the shows that are repetitive and Nature. They stimulation so much that they chew on the cement and their teeth to the point where they have to be drilled daily sometimes. Please don’t buy a ticket . Don’t teach our children that this is somehow OK or educational. Studying or captivity is studying a human in a prison cell. If you love something you should respect it…. We need to treat Nature with more respect than thinking that everything exists for our taking.. Let’s be better.
