Huh... really? I thought the Ancients came first and built the temple all around the world and thus was used to help Light Gaia against his fight with Dark Gaia. Do we have a time stamp of when these things happen? Well, it wouldn't be the first time the Chaos Emeralds being off planet. Sonic X Season 3 started off with Super Sonic sending all 7 Chaos Emeralds across the galaxy to prevent the Metarex from getting their hands on them when Super Sonic was struggling to hold one off.

@viruschris3160 No. The Ancients went from the Starfall Islands to the Master Emerald's location (which eventually led to Angel Island and their eventual devolution into Chao). Meanwhile, the two Earth deities have been at war for over 1 million years, and their conflict is a cycle. Sonic X is not canon to the games timeline and thus its events are not applicable.

The Master Emerald does seem to have Existed on the Planet Always, Maybe Chip used it/the Planet's Chaos Energy before The Emeralds ended up falling to the Planet.. I don't think we really know when the Gaia Temples were Made, So they could've been made after the Emeralds fell.

@ OK. So, the Gaia's are older. And I used the Sonic X EXAMPLE to explain that the Chaos Emerald were sent into space... like your suggestion the Chaos Emeralds could've originated from Earth and then sent into space that led to the Ancients's home world and were brought back with the Master Emerald calling them home. I know Sonic X is not canon to the game. It's a loosely adaption of the Sonic games, but it's own universe.

A couple of others have brought up the time stones as a version of other worlds having their own emerald sets. Which would also explain the Sol Emeralds to a certain extent as well. Nice comparison though, not to mention that Sonic takes after Star Wars in quite a few instances as well

I took it as Eggman's machine that sucked the emeralds dry, but that does raise the question of how Sonic was transformed in the first place. The only explanation I can think of is that perhaps Eggy found a remnant of Dark Gaia and used the emeralds to power said remnant; Ultimately it may have led to the laser being able to wake up DG?

@@Jiggyx3 yeah man it was clearly eggman's laser cannon that drained the chaos emeralds of their energy and also did you know there are multiple types of infinity the only two I would mention is countable Infinity as this is a type of Infinity you can count and quantify even though it is near infinite and uncountable infinity there's a type of Infinity that can't be counted or quantifiable like there are multiple occasions where the chaos emeralds lost their power multiple times

I think Amy is the best chance we have at that happening all jokes aside. I feel like her affinity for tarot reading and 'energies' are a form of chaos energy taking form

@Jiggyx3 did you know that cream the rabbit is A healer and I mean she has the ability to heal herself or others by using the purity of her own heart as it is confirmed in Sonic battle and I know you said Amy has the best chance of using the super form or chaos energy but what about cream expanding her healing powers with positive chaos energy to a much greater degree and I know this is a different game like sonic.exe blood tears good ending cream is able to refill your ring meter by using a technique I already told you about

I go more in-depth about this idea there, so be sure to let me know if you think I got some things right! I do like how you made the comparisons to the other characters though. They're powerful in their own rights, but nothing will compare to the sheer force of a 'Sonic'

@@PhageArc I mean... yeah. All versions of her moveset until Sonic Frontiers suggests that Amy *isn't* a good fighter, but she has tools at her disposal that *can help* in battle. Sonic Battle, I think, has my favorite moveset for her because you can see Boxing Gloves on one of her attacks, which is the in-universe way of saying she needs a lot more than her Piko Hammer to actually match up to the likes of Knuckles. I have a lot of critiques for Frontiers, the game which the developers thought a better option for her would be to actually give her Tarot powers, a decision I personally do not like, but even *then*, this moveset doesn't necessairly suggest Amy being a good fighter either, but a good MAGE-type of character. Her IDW counterpart is more of a strategist if anything, and she's also shown using her Piko Hammer to deal with stuff. My point is that you can say what characters are good at combat (like Rouge and Shadow, the jewel thief Ultimate Life Form), naturally gifted (Sonic and Knuckles being super fast and super strong respectively) and the weapon-users (Tails with his gadgets and Amy with her Piko Hammer. Hell, throw Cream essentially having a Guardian Angel in the form of Chesse in this category too) and that's not a bad thing.

There's a good link between Sonic's existence and shintoism, like he could be some type of deity over nature and freedom.

It's never fully explained what Hyper-Go-On is, but if I had to guess, it'd be akin to the life-force that people on Sonic's world has. Now if that's due to some other set of gems is up for debate, but I'd be interested in learning more about them tbh

@Jiggyx3 same. There's that cut line about it being stronger then the emeralds but we can't really use that but I personally theorize that Hyper go on is an off shot of chaos energy or something like that.

The true untapped potential of it all. On the flip side of that though, having too much power, or becoming cocky because of said power is what ultimately leads to their downfall though (in the case of the End and Solaris) The End probably thought that there was nothing fathomable that could destroy it because of said power, hence a being able to tap into it as well was what lead to it's defeat. TLDR; The same thing that makes us , can destroy us

I actually have a major issue with that fact from Frontiers because with how the emeralds were interpreted in the classic games, the huge implication being that the Master and Chaos Emeralds are powerful crystals of heaven and earth respectively. They perfectly contrast each other in so many ways. The Chaos are multiple, several colors, always scattered, found all over the WORLD. But the Master is only one, a single color, and only ever found on Angel Island on its pedestal. They’re as contrasting as Sonic and Knuckles themselves. So with the Chaos Emeralds being so associated with the Earth and the Master Emerald literally being the grand emerald ABOVE them in the LAND in the SKY called ANGEL ISLAND, it bothers me that it turns out the Chaos Emeralds are the gems from space (the HEAVENLS if you will), brought by literal celestial beings instead of the Master Emerald that was already associated with not being of the lower world. I think it would’ve made more sense if it was actually the Master Emerald that originated from space and the Chaos Emerald originate from Earth for those reasons. The Ancients would have the Master with them through space and see that it’s reacting to the Chaos Emeralds Earth and THEN, with their discovery, develop the new technology to contain them and use them for various inventions like cyber space and the titans. I mean really, if the Chaos Emeralds were their original sacred gems from their home world, why did they take the Master Emerald with them when they migrated to Angel Island instead if those? And ultimately, I think I would’ve preferred the Chaos Emeralds’ origins to be left as much as mystery as Sonic himself. As far as we know, Sonic was BORN running. We don’t NEED to know where he’s from and his background like we do Knuckles. We know the history of Master Emerald, we know where it always is, we know where Knuckles always is and what he’s doing, we have ALL the lore. Not so much for Sonic. We don’t know where he’s is all the time just like we don’t know where the Chaos Emeralds are all the time. They’re everywhere, just as HE’S everywhere.

@@nicholassgobero oh no, I’m not angry about it at all! It works totally fine and ultimately doesn’t make a lick of a difference lol. I just think it would be more coherent with the narratives behind the emeralds. Giving a place of origin to the Chaos Emeralds just kinda goes against their mysterious nature a little bit.

Personal preferences and head-canons aside (to the best of my ability), I don't see why the chaos emeralds coming from space while the Master Emerald was found in the earth is such a bad thing. Sure, we're introduced to it on the floating Angel Island in S3&K (unless you count hidden palace in S2 canon, which was on a different Island entirely), but that doesn’t mean it was always there. Its first discovery could’ve easily been with it in the ground; the shrine's creation being years to millennia after the fact. The ancients may not even have been the ones to move it. The Echidna tribe(s) could’ve (re)discovered it and felt its otherworldly power and decided to build the shrine we're more familiar with in reverence, worshipping it as their religious center. All we know is that the Master Emerald drew the Chaos Emeralds there, bringing the Ancients along for the ride. Even without Frontiers' lore, I wouldn’t call the Chaos Emeralds worldly since they were always found in special zones back in the genesis era of Sonic (also in Heroes and Rush). Who's to say they don't go back there everytime they scatter, sometimes finding their way to earth when something's about to happen (or being grabbed offscreen)? All I'm saying is that we don't know all the details and (usually) aren't the ones in the writing room to decide them; we just have to enjoy our takes with that in mind

@@OmarRodriguez-pj3qy i kinda disagree, we don't really know where they came from or how they exist, te ancients had them and brought them to earth but we don't know if they created them or just found them, if anything, i think the mistery is amplified when you consider that an otherworldy gem in the middle of space was somehow attracted to the Master emerald on earth, which just so happens to have the power to nullify them, imagine if all the plutoniom on planet earth suddenly decided it wants to go to Mars and when it gets there it stops being radioactive, that's kinda what happened Btw, Just wanna say that i didn't think you would be respectful in your reply so props to you, that's really rare in the Internet these days

I can see the Master Emerald acting as a sort of 'Middle Ground' for the emeralds if that makes sense. It's stronger that the regular emeralds, but can also be the reason why they surpass their limits as well. Akin to a 'I'll lead to to a power that I can not obtain' for the simple fact that the Master Emerald HAS to be a neutral point

I know that Fleetway is considered to be it's own canon unfortunately, because it only help furthers the idea that the Chaos Emeralds are not of Sonic's main world. They could've been these gems that multiple clans/groups fought over, with each one having their own history and use for the gems.

For sure feel as though Super Sonic could never be replaced, and the fact that we were getting new super-forms for a while (Knuckles, Shadow, Silver) back then should've been proof of that for them. Super Sonic will forever be the original and the GOAT, but they're def missing out on so much potential by letting other characters have a chance to flex their own forms/abilities

Now that you mentioned the black arms, I have an idea. So, we see in sonic frontiers that the emeralds actually were brought to earth by the ancients, aliens, right? So, if there's another alien race(the black arms) whose leader knows how to use their energy, perhaps the ancients and the black arms were somehow connected?

I mean, the Black Arms' whole deal is they like to conquer, so it's not too far out of the realm of possibilities

Never made the connection there, but I like how you explained it! I wish there was at least some glimpse of how the Master Emerald was reacting to that plot-thread of Lost World, so that we could theorize more on it. I'm 95% certain though that if things were truly dire, the gem would've been a saving grace

I'm SAYYYIIIINNGGGGGGG. I would believe that the Master Emerald going un-discovered for years allowed it to form a bond with the only thing it (presumably) has ever known; The Earth and life stemming from it. All the while, learning the ins- and outs of it and how to nourish its home

Nah, by all means; Be that guy! I love when discussion can be had, so I'm all for it. I wouldn't be mad to see that the emeralds are just here so that there's an 'all powerful gem' for the Sonic verse. Frontiers seemed to have been the beginning of questioning their exact origin, but that could just as easily be a plot dead in the water when it comes to future installments. From 6 emeralds, to 7, and then 8 in Sonic fighters, the inconsistencies will most def forever be present like you said.

Gerald's diary from Shadow Gens actually does goes over the creation of them (and the Artificial Chaos) - effectively siphoned chaos energy from the tests he ran from an Emerald. Excerpt from Page 9: Entry #530 Research into "Project: Shadow" is in full swing. The first step has been learning how to siphon [redacted] Emerald energy and apply it to living tissue. To that end, I've developed the "Chaos Drives." Direct application seems too harsh. Any organism that could directly interface with an emerald would be fearsome indeed!

It is actually explain directly, the caos drive are basically just containers of chaos energy created by Gerald in which Gerald placed the caos energy he estracted from the caos emerald he had, they also grant easly access to said energy to be use to both machines and organic beings, Buy most beings can really handle being expose to that much energy long term

​@@alexisrobinson353 that reminds me. Isn’t most of GUN's machines: robots, mechs, most of their tech; running on Chaos energy? Almost everything of theirs you destroy drops Chaos drives in SA2. Definitely adds to the lore that Gerald was still working with GUN (involuntarily) after Maria became a GUN casualty.

@voryndagothDL @alexisrobinson353 @tadeolaguarda6965 The case for Chaos drives is insanely interesting, because it suggests that perhaps anyone who isn't a talking animal wouldn't be able to withstand the emeralds power, thus needing the drives. Of course, we could also chalk that up to GUN and whatnot mass producing the drives so they wouldn't always need the Chaos Emeralds, but it's up to interpretation.

@JamesERoach I wouldn't be surprised if GUN forced Gerald to work for them leading all the way up to his execution. The man could make deadly weapons that any military would DIE for
