  • @Lederius18
    @Lederius18 10 дней назад

    Both ladies had an incredible season by any measure. However, I’d say when Coco lost this season, I feel it was always due to herself and her double faults. The end of the season seemed so much better with her confidence and her new coach. If Coco can get her double faults cut in half in 25’, I fear she will go in a tear and win a slam and possibly many 1000 titles. Zheng is a great player but I feel she always crumbles in the big moments sans the Olympics. She has the ability but maybe not the experience. Hopefully she continues to do well and we see many more matches between the two.

    • @GrandSlamStats
      @GrandSlamStats 10 дней назад

      @@Lederius18 Exactly! She absolutely needs to cut out those double faults, it’s crazy to think she has way more double faults than aces in 2024 stat. If she could cut them in half like you’ve said, there’s no doubt she could win multiple majors and dominate the Masters 1000 events. It’s not like she can’t compete with top players like Swiatek and Sabalenka in baseline play. The WTA Finals showed that Sabalenka’s power doesn’t bother her. Most of her issues seem to be mental; she just needs to stay disciplined and composed under pressure. Yeah with Zheng, it really comes down to gaining experience. Hopefully, she can learn from her defeats in the Australian Open final and the WTA Finals and push forward in 2025

    There's misrepresentation here of what Toni said -- You're claiming Toni only said Federer's elegance and flair as the reason. Toni says "Who played better? Federer." Meaning, according to Toni, the level of play (probably at their respective peak forms) from Federer was higher than that of the other contenders. That's separate from Federer's supposed elegance, poetic nonchalance, grace, et cetera.

    • @GrandSlamStats
      @GrandSlamStats 15 дней назад

      @@DLH-zw3lx I understand where you’re coming from. In the video, I did mention that Toni believes ‘Federer was the better player at his peak.’ I thought this was clear, but perhaps it could have been emphasized better.

    • @DLH-zw3lx
      @DLH-zw3lx 15 дней назад

      @GrandSlamStats @GrandSlamStats you mentioned it somewhere in the start. In the conclusion, level of Federer's play is not what is factored in. But that's what Toni was basing his words on -- Federer's level of play, not aesthetics. The conclusion of the video paints it much more a a "pretty play" vs. "stats" juxtaposition -- which, unfortunately, is completely misleading to the average viewer. Level of play, according to one of the most successful coaches in the history of the game, is a serious, non-feeling based metric, my friend

    • @DLH-zw3lx
      @DLH-zw3lx 15 дней назад

      In fact, Toni's comments from that excerpt of that particular 2024 interview at his academy do not even mention aesthetics or style of play at all. He says Federer played the game better. That's all.

    • @GrandSlamStats
      @GrandSlamStats 15 дней назад

      @ Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it. I see your point, and I’ll definitely be more careful and clear in the future if I cover a similar topic again. I’ll work on making sure the distinction between factors like level of play and style is more accurately conveyed next time.

      @jankobatricevic3782 16 дней назад

      @GrandSlamStats Your partially true on the dominant claim for the frist half of the season.The second half was dissapointing i mean that loss to Zheng at the Olympics was the biggest upset this year,like getting destroyed by a 5 foot Putinsteva and then losing to Pegula at Us open.Pegula who never went past the quarters and finaly the wta finals was dissapointing.Gets destroyed by Coco who she often dominates,almost lost to Krejcikova and the Kasatkina match was kindy not valid.Kasatkina didnt expect to play and obviosly as a said the fact that she has been caught guilty of using drugs makes no doubt that Sabalenka had much better season.

      @GrandSlamStats 15 дней назад

      @ Thank you for your response! I agree with many of your points, especially regarding the loss to Zheng at the Olympics, it was definitely the biggest upset of the year, especially since it was on her favourite surface as well. You’re also right that Sabalenka winning two Grand Slam titles gives her a strong case for having the better season. However, I don’t think it’s entirely clear-cut. You forgot Iga's bronze Olympic medal. That being said, Iga is the better player, except for her mental issue's. I believe she should fire her psych, as she is there for a job, not solving problems, except when she bets against her, knowing which buttons to push when she needs extra cash. Sabalenka on the other hand, has no such issue's, she can talk a boyfriend off a roof and finish her tournament without breaking a sweat. Aryna is an exceptional player, but she has to meet Iga on the court to achieve a fair #1, not wait until something happens to Iga and win by default, as happened twice, and Aryna is not good enough to battle Iga for the win except when someone is playing mind games with Iga. #quote

    Before he lost to Nadal at RG (retired hurt) he looked like he would outlast Nadal over 5 sets. I wanted Zverev to win against Alcaraz at the French, just didn't happen. I think Zverev will eventually win a slam. Wimbledon is his weakest though I think.

      I’m not sure he would have outlasted Nadal at French Open 2022. It’s a shame with that match against Alcaraz at French 2024 he should have kicked on from the 3rd set. Wimbledon he should be doing a lot better in that tournament.

    Chokers are not be created they are born as a chokers. Zverev is one of them. No matter how easy draw he gets he will find a way out to lose. Wordt thing is he lost many of his games when he was 2 sets ahead.

      He definitely has a mental block when it comes to slams.

      I reckon Jannik Sinner has a big chance of winning it.
