Tall Tomatoes at RBH... Can you say Over Eight Feet!!!!
Seems the Tomatoes, along with the rest of the Garden at RBH is enjoying the new Irrigation System... Checked things this week and the Tomato Plants are over 8 feet tall.... Yes, over 8 feet tall....
To date, the Garden has produced over a hundred pound of Vegetable Love... Gave away 15 Pounds of Potatoes, Peppers and Tomatoes at A Bikers Garage to our New Customers...

Gardening is a Labor of Love that Gives Back!!!... Today, I added an Irrigation Timer to the Raised Beds to further enhance the ability of the Garden to Endure the Summer... Eureka Springs receives over 45 inches of Rainfall each year... However, in July and August, it comes in large doses with extended (two/three week) dry spells... Which will Burn-Up a Garden... So, Irrigation is critical... ...

The Beekeeping is progressing well at Reds Bohemian Hillside just outside of Eureka Springs... Today, the focus was on Queens... We have had some Success... With two New Queens... Along with five Queen Cells on a Frame... We also have a Queen/Nucleus to transfer to another Beekeeper, Sarah. The best news of the day... Beekeeping, to a large part, revolves around the Queen and her capabilities... We have captured a couple Swarms that do not have a Queen... So, we have attempted adding a frame of eggs/larva in the hopes the Swarm would "grow" a Queen... No luck so far... So, we had a frame with several "Queen Cells" upon it and so we are taking a path to "Harvest" a Queen Cell and have placed them in "Mini-Nuc...

Beekeeping is a Fascinating and Unique undertaking... They have an entire "Social Network"... Can use their Bodies Enzymes & Proteins to convert Flower Nectar that will eventually become Honey... A forager Bee can travel up to 5 miles (but most often stay within 1-1/2 miles of the Hive) to collect Nectar... And a Bee can fly with a load of Nectar equal to it's own Body Weight... Bees also blend...

In the Yakima Valley in the Pacific Northwest, there is an abundance of Fruit Trees... It is the home of the "Washington Apple" and so much more... i will be making sauerkraut soon but with out caraway (don't like caraway)
Have you tried other flavoring ideas.... Onions, Carrots or Apples... Have heard some like to add these as accent flavors... Have not tried it myself... All the Best, Red
